The season premiere was a disappointment, to say the least. The pacing, as well as the entire mood of the episode felt very off. The writing was bad and it just didn't feel like Game of Thrones at all. The episode felt like a badly written Hollywood-movie, not the GoT we all know and love. There were too many cheesy moments that shouldn't have been there. Too many things felt off. I'm usually amazed by the show's stunning CGI, but that too, was undoubtedly bad in this episode. The acting wasn't at its peak either - although I'm not sure if that was the bad writing.
There were, however, some good moments, Peter Dinklage is always fantastic as Tyrion, and John Bradley was brilliant as Samwell. The best part of the episode was when Jaime arrived at Winterfell, setting up what we've all been waiting for.
Hopefully, the show goes back to what it once was. I still have hope.
