Velma (2023)
Actually terrible
I honestly don't understand how shows like these ever make it to the point where they are being watched by the general public.
How does it make it past the first pitch? How do they spend this much money on development and marketing for an absolutely below acceptable finished product?
Not only is it unfunny, it doesn't even make any attempt at presenting itself as something anyone could possibly enjoy.
It doesn't follow the established lore or backstories of the previous series, or the established personalities and attributes of the characters we have a history with.
So I ask you, what is the point? Why even make this series? Why not create your own series within the scooby spoof teen mystery genre? Why this?
It appears HBO just has too much money, they don't know what to do with it at this point so they've resorted to burning it producing content like this.
The Orville: From Unknown Graves (2022)
So incredibly dull, contrived, and unrealistic.
There was so much wrong with this episode that I don't even know where to start.
Firstly it was around 30 minutes too long, there was a lot of fat that could have been trimmed off of this story.
Secondly how is lying to people in order to gain their trust and then revealing that you lied a plan that would ever work? Who would think that idea would have merit? I don't see how Ed or Kelly would come up with that plan.
And the story designed to make you sympathetic to the genocide of the kaylon people did not deliver the sentiment they set out to deliver. Genocide was not the only option as the kaylon with supposed feelings so indelicately put it. The androids could have formed a protected colony or left the planet completely. Genocide is never the only or acceptable option. I can't even believe that they wrote those lines.
As for Claire forcing Isaac to do something that he didn't want to do for her own benefit, that also felt very wrong and out of character for her.
I really don't understand what the writers were thinking with this episode, it's almost like they don't understand their own characters!
A League of Their Own (2022)
Completely inaccurate
I really do not understand the point of this series. If you are going to make a series about the aagpbl why would you not try to make it as historically accurate as you can while still interesting? And why would you spend so much time on stories that have absolutely no significance to the history of the league or where even a part of the history of the league. This series just pigeon-holes storylines that have no real importance or significance to the history of the league into a period piece and call it a day.
The Orville: A Tale of Two Topas (2022)
A bore of an episode.
I really don't care what this episode is an allegory for, wether it is transition or detransition, it is in my opinion a slow, boring episode. I understand the sensitivities surrounding this issue, but if it were about any other issue I feel that most would also regard it as far from interesting.
Queer as Folk (2022)
Don't expect it to get better, it doesn't.
This is what happens when you place portraying every possible identity and struggle ahead of good writing.
Sometimes you can't fit it all into one series, and you really shouldn't try.
Focus on telling a few compelling stories in the best way possible, not as many as possible in a big jumbled mess.
Really, I don't know what they were thinking.
Dicktown (2020)
Just lazy
Lazy writing and storytelling. Not worth your time.
The only people who will enjoy this series are those who wish to have their left of center political opinions haphazardly thrown at them.
Family Guy: Hot Shots (2016)
Just a bad episode.
Regardless of how you feel about vaccines this episode is just not good. Boring and preachy. Not funny.
The Midnight Gospel (2020)
I wanted to like this
I really wanted to like this show, I feel they could have done something cool with the initial premise, but I just could not get myself to sit through a fake podcast, and I enjoy podcasts.
The Umbrella Academy (2019)
So much potential, squandered..
Perhaps the most predictable, cliche, and naive show I have seen in a very long time. And the worst part is that it had so much potential!
I really wanted to love this show, but I just couldn't overlook all of its downfalls..
