A solid coming of age comedy!
14 July 2019
Such a great feel-good film. Kaitlyn Dever & Beanie Feldstein DELIVER comedy gold. You are immediately invested in their friendship and want them to achieve their goals of having a fun night before they head off to college. Olivia Wilde smashed it with this film. I did not lose interest or get bored the entire movie, and I eagerly await her next project.

Shazam! (2019)

All DC needed to say was Shazam! to up their movie game
26 April 2019
Yes, yes, yes. This is an insanely awesome movie. This movie gave me so much 90's wizard and magic nostalgia and was absolutely hilarious.

Zachary Levi & Asher Angel gave such a good performance, especially when it comes to making the audience believe that 2 separate actors are the same character.

DC have absolutely brought their movie making game with Shazam! showing that Wonder Woman wasn't just a fluke.

A good end to the Infinity Saga, but not a good film
26 April 2019
Avengers: Endgame is truly one of those films marketed to satisfy hardcore fans. Watching this film I truly wished that I was one of those fans and could receive the amount of satisfaction that they all seemed to have received from this.

As an outsider I feel like a lot of the humor was misplaced, a lot of the action scenes were dark and hard to see, a high level of predictability to the film, a loss of logic in a few of the plot lines and a really unforgiving run time. Also given that this movie has a lot of characters in it, there really is a big difference in some of their screen time and not in a good way.

Putting that all aside though there were some really good scenes, some of the jokes were hilarious and the overwhelming emotion of seeing all the Avengers from over the years finally assemble and give evil a true kick in the face was amazing to see.

I would definitely recommend seeing the film to form your own opinion and I am definitely glad that the creators gave their fans exactly what they wanted in this ending, as I would like the same sense of loyalty given to me for the saga's that I am I hardcore fan of.

Emily Blunt rivals Julie Andrews.
15 April 2019
Emily Blunt absolutely makes this film. She nails the character of Mary Poppins as an actress and has such an amazing voice I want her in every musical. Whilst the movie is fairly similar to the original, it feeds nostalgia to anyone who grew up with the original Mary Poppins. I'm not sure how well it appeals to modern children, but it is a fun film.

Gaga is the best part
15 April 2019
Whilst Gaga gives an amazing performance, the actual content of this movie is not great. Found myself bored by the plot and a majority of the other actors. Over 2 hours is definitely too long for a romance musical.

Bad timing.
15 April 2019
A great performance from Hailed Steinfield, awesome soundtrack and not a bad movie overall. The main problem I found was that we already know what is going to happen in this movie. It would definitely have been much better had this come out prior to the Transformer movies. If you haven't watched the others but want to, watch this first because you'll definitely enjoy it a lot more.

The Umbrella Academy (2019–2024)
10/10
A thrilling, mysterious, entertaining Sci-Fi adventure that everyone should take.
11 March 2019
The Umbrella Academy is by far one of the best sci-fi productions I have seen in a long time.

I usually find with most sci-fi TV series that there is always something lacking. Whether it's acting, production value, direction or story line The Umbrella Academy seems to capture all of these elements and bring the audience an entertaining mystery with a dozen twists and unexpected endings. From the mysteries of their deceased father, to the long-awaited return of number 5, to the bizarre romance between a time-traveler and a donut shop owner this series has it all and more. Time travelling story lines usually seem to be be over-explanatory or treat the audience like a child. The Umbrella Academy somehow steers away from this but also easily explains the sci-fi components to the audience without having to dumb anything down. There are amazing performances from Robert Sheehan, Mary. J Blige, Emmy Rover-Lampmen, Kate Walsh & the usual level of acting Ellen Page brings to productions. The most outstanding performance that stands far out from the rest was that of 15 year old Aidan Gallagher. He brings sophistication to his role and plays an extremely complicated character extremely well. He acts at a much higher calibre than what you would usually expect from a child actor.

To summarise, The Umbrella Academy is a well thought out show that keeps you thoroughly entertained and leaves you craving season two.

A marvel-ous & unexpected performance from Brie Larson.
11 March 2019
One of the better origin movies I have seen from the Marvel franchise, Captain Marvel sweeps in amidst a 2 part saga and blows us away. When I first learned that the after credits scene from Infinity Wars meant an introduction of yet another character in the middle of this epic 2 part story line, I thought that is would be rubbish. It actually turned out to be a really amazing break in the Infinity War story that we needed.

It was light, not heavy with the usual origin plot lines, the acting was great and the movie had awesome production value.

Brie Larson and Samuel.L. Jackson brought a lot to the film and Brie Larson made her character a lot better than I would have thought.

Definitely one of the better Marvel movies out there in comparison to movies like Iron Man & Captain America.

Fun and exhilarating, but leaves fans confused
29 November 2018
As a Harry Potter fan I couldn't help but love every second of this movie, but at the same time be rather annoyed by it. It stays true to the Potter World in terms of places, beasts and magic, but unfortunately lost some of it's audience with the plot and characters. I think they have tried to grasp at too much without any underlying information like we had in Harry Potter from the books. And the fact that the plot is straight to a movie without a book, has made it hard for them to figure out what works and to convey the story. Aside from that, it has a wonderful production value and great acting. I was happy Zoë Kravitz own her role as usual and have never enjoyed Jude Law more than this role. I also believe Ezra Miller is going to become one of the greatest actors of our time. If you were a Harry Potter fan I would recommend seeing it even with the plot holes, if you haven't enjoyed the Potter-verse then I would give this movie a miss.

The Strangers are back in full force
21 March 2018
In 2008 The Strangers hit the screens and it was terrifying. After 10 longs years we have been given a second film and boy, was it worth the wait. The second installment in this mysterious and chilling story about 3 strangers on the hunt for blood, is just as scary and bloodthirsty as the first. Writer & director Byran Bernito made some great choices in this film and whilst the soundtrack is vastly different to the first, it almost turns it into an entirely different experience. If this is still screening where you live, I highly recommend you give it a go.

Black Panther (2018)
5/10
Definitely outshines some of the other Marvel movies.
21 February 2018
Black Panther is another great film in the Marvel universe, but I feel is a little out of touch with the Infinity War plot-line. It has all the right points for an origin story but we are shown nothing new about the personality of the character that we didn't already get from Captain America: Civil War. I really enjoyed performances from Letitia Wright and Michael B Jordan. And the set up and location of the film was great, they did a really good job of showing us Wakanda. Definitely not one to miss out if you enjoy the Marvel franchise.

The best of the Insidious sequels
20 February 2018
Insidious: The Last Key is marginally better than Chapter 2 & 3, but not by much. Keeping in tone with how bad horror sequels usually are, this installment gives us mediocre jump scares and not much story. Lin Shaye gives a good performance being the best character in the series. Her story line is decent but undervalued by the need to fill out the movie with over the top and drawn out suspense scenes. If you have seen the other 3 Insidious movies then I would recommend giving it a go, but if you haven't or disliked them then I would probably give this one a miss. This installment makes me hope that it is the last in the Insidious series.

Absolutely stunning
20 February 2018
The Shape Of Water is a stunning film that is deserving of Oscars for all 13 nominations. Mixing in themes of romance, supernatural, gore and msytery, the film brings us a story so bizarre but beautiful in the best ways possbile. Sally Hawkin's performance shone throughout the entire film and delivered the character to us perfectly. Richard Jenkins was lovable and brought us a human side to the story whilst Octavia Spencer brought humour into this drama in a way that only she could do. Definitely Guillermo del Toro's best film since Pan's Labyrinth and an absolute must-see.

Thor-tastic
27 October 2017
Thor Ragnarok is a fun and entertaining film. Reminded me a lot of Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Great performances from Tessa Thompson, Cate Blanchett, Tom Hiddleston and Chris Hemsworth as per usual. Seems to be more of a fan-based movie as opposed to telling more of the infinity stone sub-plot that runs through some of the other movies. Worth the watch!

Flatliners (2017)
3/10
It kinda fell flat.
3 October 2017
What started off as potentially a great film, suddenly turned into a complete boring mess. While going in a different direction to the 1990's version, I don't think the creators knew exactly what that direction was as it seemed to jump all over the place. While I giggled at certain ridiculous moments, the rest was spent thinking what exactly is going on? Ellen Page's performance was okay but I think the movie itself squashed what could have been a great acting role.

Wonder Woman (2017)
10/10
So damn great.
3 October 2017
By far the best superhero movie to date, Wonder Woman has everything you want and so much more. Gal Gadot does such a fantastic job of the role of Wonder Woman. It's so great to finally watch a superhero movie that focuses around a woman that doesn't point that fact out. Patty Jenkins directed this superbly and made it so much more than just another origin story.
