Bratz (2007)
I lost the will to live.
So we decided to watch this film, as a laugh. It was Very far from a laugh, it was terrifying and traumatising, The shrieking awful actresses with their squeaky voices running amok screaming 'BFF' and 'IT'S ALL ABOUT ME' sent traumatic shudders up my spine. This piece of tripe is not a CHICK FLICK, nor is it a kids film, it's a horror movie, that resides in your brain and destroys it after watching it. I can honestly say that, my brain is still in the process of recovering.
The deaf boy wasn't really deaf, I don't think i reluctant deaf boy would have learnt to lip read in such a quick time, nor speak properly. Furthermore, the final performance 'bratitude' is the WORST WORST WORST performance ever. No she cannot sing, and they cannot dance. =_=.
Night at the Museum (2006)
I enjoyed it..surprisingly
Kids Films nowadays are renowned to be horribly executed pieces. Right? And Night of the Museum certainly lives up to that title. What the critics don't tell you that even if it is a horribly executed piece of work, it still can be tremendously enjoyable. Night of the Museum ticks these boxes as well.
I was surprised to see so many homages to other kids films/cartoons. Injections of Scooby Doo, Jumanji, Red Indians and Cowboys. It's the perfect mix. It's enjoyable and you can say it is rather crap, but you know, not everything is perfect. Because if it was incredibly TERRIBLE then why would actors like Steve Coogan, Dick Van Dyke sign up for this. For them, The end product of this isn't to make it PERFECT but you can see that it was a time for them to be kids again. Therefore, Watch this with an open and childish mind. You never know, critics, you might just enjoy it.
Over the Hedge (2006)
Yes, i bought the DVD.
Let's be honest here, I wasn't really expecting much when i was dragged to the cinema but my younger brother.
I was pleasantly surprised. Not only does the film keep its humour throughout the whole length of the movie but the voice over's were a blow away. RJ, the raccoon voiced over by Willis is somewhat, knwoledgebly street smart in comparison to gary Shandling's dry humour. However, it is not these characters that steal the show. Hammy the hamster voiced by Steve carrell was an absolute star to watch.
The plot delivers, the humour delivers, the DVD delivers. What more could you ask for? go buy it now..
Fruits Basket (2001)
warm, heartfelt and delightful in every way
Fruits basket is one of the most amazing anime and manga's i have ever read. Although i do have to admit, this genre of anime is directed at female audiences young and old( my mother loved this too.) I found that the story is unbelievably mushy but you can totally get absorbed into the 'mushyness' of the story. I completely fell in love with the story line because it was very beautiful and in a way had a lot of dimensions to it. The story had a funny comedy side and a romantic side and also a dark serious side that does make you see a lot of morals in the story. The morals are beautifully shown.
The characters of the anime were very different from some anime i have watched in the past. The characters are very 3 dimensional. they show a lot of emotions each and in a way you ache for their pains as thought they were real people. this is the anime where i cried a lot in, each characters background give them a really good base to work from and to enter the hearts of watchers. my favourite episode has to be the last three because every time i watch these episodes, i still cry non stop. and also i enjoyed momiji's story because this anime does make you think about life in a sense.
i loved this series and, if you enjoy emotional stories, this is sure to be a winner with you
