Maniac (2018)

Gives ''Gripping'' and ''Compelling'' back their true meanings
2 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Once it establishes itself, and breaks free from its nods to 'Brazil' (movie), Bladerunner and early David Lynch, it becomes itself in its own universe.

The move to the Fantasy and Confrontation signals, I thought, a weakness in the therapeutic narrative mainly because the fantasy context and the separation of the two protagonists dropped the intensity. There was also no advance to resolution or acceptance which that stage demanded.

IMPORTANT MOVIE
19 July 2018
So many things are really important which are trivial. This movie is not one of them. It is important. This movie demonstrates our self-destruction through diet. Tax sugar 1000%.

Structurally Unsound
10 March 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Arc of story spoiled by having wrong character as lead. Anniken should have risen in prominence, become the lead and the driver of the unfolding events. The last two episodes were plain silly. There was no resolution, no evidence, just ambiguity and irrelevant splurges of violence.

Moral ambiguity leads to plot disssolution
28 February 2018
Warning: Spoilers
It is worth watching. It is like watching a series that has a plot made up while shooting is taking place. It talks itself through its own absurdities while walking away from problematic events.

The cast make it worth watching. And the FX computer people do fine work. Going for ''back to my family'' blah blah and times with the flakey Kellog instead of UST (unresolved sexual tension) with the buddy was a strange and unworthy decision.

It has much going for it but confuses ignorance and complexity with mystery and wonder.

A great fantasy movie
28 February 2018
The bitching hipster haters who love to castigate this movie seem to forget what fantasy means. This movie is a fantasy. It works. Brad Pitt is amazing. The hating on him in this movie over the last 20 years is totally disgusting.

Unmissable

Behind the great cast, storylines, wonderful guest stars, excellent soundtrack music and lotsa fun, there is a great deal of cleverness. Unlike American shows it is not wearing a PC corset.
