12 Dates of Christmas (2011)
Better than your average made-for-TV Christmas movie.
I have pretty low expectations for movies of this genre, but this one really surprised me. The script wasn't cringeworthy, the acting wasn't cringeworthy, and the story, though it's pretty predicable, wasn't littered with clichés. Not only I was able to watch past the first 20 minutes, but I would actually watch this movie again.
Dirty Dancing (2017)
Not as bad as I expected
Sure, it's not the original, but it's really not as bad as most people are saying. There was a lot of depth added to the characters (and not just Baby and Johnny either) that you don't see in the original, and honestly the cast did a pretty good job considering what they had to live up to. Abigail Breslin's dancing was not phenomenal, but it was sufficient, considering that the character only had three weeks to learn to dance, and even for a naturally talented dancer, that's not a lot of time to get really good, so Abigail's level worked for the character pretty well. Before watching I was really skeptical about how the acting was going to be and if there was going to be good chemistry between the leads, and I was very pleasantly surprised. So give this movie a chance. Go into it to enjoy it, and appreciate the good changes it made.
By the way, I gave it an official 7/10 because I usually rate movies on how much I like them, as that's what really counts, not how well- made they are. As far as overall quality goes, I'd probably give it a 5/10.
