Married at First Sight (2014)
Annoying At First & Last Sight...
The concept is intriguing. The first few seasons had some purpose, at least providing guidance and exercises for the couples (not so much any more).
This season (17) was the worst ever and could have been wrapped up in 5 -7 episodes. After 17 season and the individuals are oblivious to the concept of marrying a stranger and working through the process. In all fairness at least the women came prepared to talk and work through things.
This season they went back to stretching 35min into an hour and a half or 2. They will show a clip at the end of the previous episode, the beginning of the episode, before and after the commercial and then play it unedited. They do that the entire season. There were a few years they went away from that crap but once again its the norm.
If your watching this for a feel good , happy and healthy story, you will get that only about 16% of the time; exact opposite of traditional marriages with 80% lasting at least 5 years.
Again, season 17 is the WORST and perhaps the nail in the coffin for me.
.
*** Edit ***
If The Season Wasn't Bad Enough, The Reunion Was Worst.
The Mother (2023)
Zoe - "Not Eating Bambi's Mom"
That is the only memorable quote that made me laugh, from the scene that is about 2 and a half minutes long (starting at 01:06:25).
The Acting is not bad all around, nothing great, but not bad.
The Worst part of it all was the Writing. There was no rhyme or reason for any of it. It literally jumped from point to point with not real purpose. The dialogue short, straight to a point and mostly senseless. All 3 Writers Suck.
The casting was really confusing, especially with no character development (my 1st time ever using that phrase). Zoe resembles no one in the movie... which is hard since she has very distinct features. She doesn't look like of her adoptive parents (understandably); She also looks nothing like her biological Mother; maybe she could look like one of her Fathers (there are two possible candidates)... spoiler alert, Nope ! Not even close. The Director Sucks.
As a Veteran, I try to watch these type of movies through the eyes of a regular person with zero combat training. But watching 30 perfect head shots from everyone who pulls a trigger is annoying, the one 1 miss is the one that lets the villain get away. Really annoying.
Jennifer Lopez didn't hurt this film but she doesn't fit this character... Veteran, not only a Sniper but an Elite one at that, Mistress for a Cartel Boss & A Gun Runner at the same time, let skip the part where either could be the Daddy, she also playing the roll of a 40+ to 50+ Vet which for some unknown reason the government hates.
In total, I enjoyed 2.5 minutes out of a 2 hour movie =(
Four Weddings and a Funeral (2019)
Pleasantly Surprised... (I actually laughed)
I must admit, I didn't watch the movie and I bumped into this show by chance... I'm glad it was 7 episode deep when I came across it. To me it isn't a must watch but more of a good to watch. The story-lines are well written; the actors are relatable and vary enough to give them a sense of purpose; the pace flows very well picking up when necessary and slowing down when needed; all bought to life with sprinkles of laughter, surprises and shocking moments.
Overall it is light hearted and entertaining, nothing is over the top or shocking beyond belief but it is delivered in a way that you don't see thing coming from a mile away. I was entertained with the first episode enough to want to see the next and as others have pointed out it gets better as it moves along. The improvement is not because of any changes, it is more because of the steady development of the stories and characters.
It is a Comedic Drama similar to Desperate Housewives, Brothers & Sisters, Ugly Betty & Jane The Virgin. Like all those shows it is light hearted, while also tackling a mesh of real life issues. A really good show to watch at the end of a long day.

Cold Pursuit (2019)
Horrible Waste Of Time
This movie (i use the term loosely) is just bad on every level, every single level.
There is no story line to give things a purpose. Everything just happens to justify the next scene, with no connection to the story or the characters.
All the charters are cold, boring & forgetful, with the exception of the little boy. but even he served no real purpose.
If you get a chance to watch this for free, just ask for your money back.
Superfly (2018)
SuperBad - UnSuperFly - SuperWhy
I try to view movies from the perspective of why it was made or what its goal is as opposed to what I expect or want.
There is "NO" story line or purpose to this, remake (?). I'm not even sure it should be called a remake. Nothing Develops, nothing makes you care, characters exist just because they can.
If a movie is bad, I usually won't rated because maybe its not for me. This on the other hand is something that is just horrible on every level. I gave it two stars because at least I didn't throw up (maybe I should have).

Proud Mary (2018)
The Movie Is Okay, Not Great But Descent
If your looking for a master piece this isn't it. If your looking for a movie to relax and not think too much then this is fine. I can see why some people don't like this movie the editing "sucked". for example in the first 5 minutes she walks in to a room see a guy answer the phone, then says don't answer that (too late) and then just shoots him. little things like that kept happening and causing you to wonder, whats the purpose of that.
The acting, scenes and dialogue were all descent. Nothing memorable or mind blowing but also nothing that was horrendous. The characters could have used a little more development. Even if it added 10-15 it would have made the viewer connect more with the whole story.
Maybe, I was a little generous with an 8 but after all the low rating I was expecting a really bad movie and it wasn't that at all. i think the editing was the biggest flaw and you can't blame the actor for that.

Max Payne (2008)
WoW ! Just WoW !! - Greatest Pain...
I avoided this for 10 years... I enjoyed the game too much and didn't want to be disappointed. Here it is 10 years later and guess what ? I was freaking disappointed. Here are my thoughts on it, FYI there are no spoilers - "nothing" in this movie is worth spoiling.
1. Number one warning : it is categorized as an "Action, Crime, Drama" and rated PG-13. - only the rating is appropriate.
2. If the goal is not to be like the game then you shouldn't use the title, character and style of the game - BTW this goal was totally achieved.
3. Without the title name, there is no reason to see this film - there was nothing memorable about this movie.
4. I will be remembering writer Beau Thorne and directed John Moore - if I ever see anything with their names on it, I'm running away screaming.
5. I saw this for free and I demanded my money back - I got $20 to go away and stop yelling.
Love Beats Rhymes (2017)
This Is Not A Musical And Yet Enjoyable
Let me start by saying that going in, I was expecting something different. Perhaps because I was just going off the title and hadn't seen any previews for it. As it turns out, I feel that was a good thing because I see this as a Romance/Drama. Listing this under Musical is way off in my opinion. Music and Poetry are the driving element that push the movie along and give it a purpose to watch. That being said this is not a musical and nobody is going out to buy the Soundtrack.
The story was well written and the pace of the movie didn't drag. The acting fell between decent and very good. I watched it twice a will probably watch it again (but not anytime soon). I would recommend it to others but wouldn't label it as a high priority or a must watch. For me I would say it's a 6 to 7 but others may see it somewhere between 5 and 6.
Some things I liked:
1. Craig muMs Grant - guest appearance, dropping some poetry.
2. Jill Scott - She was a force to be reckoned with the last 00:38:23 - her poem was a beast mode.
3. Last 00:38:23 - the last third of the movie was perfect pace, acting, music.
Some things that lowered my rating. First 01:06:37
1. Bass - just too much and served no purpose (and I breathe HipHop, but damn)
2. Music - there was music playing all the time in the background.
3. Jill Scott - I love everything about this lady but her acting "SUCKED" for the first 01:06:37 (and yes, I triple checked the time.
4. No Cut Scenes - 2 or 3 minutes of cuts scenes of her and her father listening to old HipHop would have better served the movie. Injecting it into the dialogue made it feel disconnected.
5. NUYORICAN Poetry - They hijacked the movement and presented everything but a NYRican. I've seen them perform and personally know the passion and work they put into their craft, it would have been nice to see them being represented in their own forum.
