Mary Queen of Scots (2018)
NOT historically correct.
Yes, i also complain about the gay husband and the variety of color in the queen's cabinet. I even seriously thought about the history of slaves and the British relation to Asia in those times. Until i saw that the historical truth was destroyed by new age contraracism and acceptance of whatever you want to be. Well, it's okay to be whatever and come from wherever. But not in history. It's NOT historically correct. This is alsl a form of racism, to put people of certain colors where they have not been. What's next? An Apache George Washington? Maybe in the next movie, Hitler dances with Hindus? Or asian vikings? How about that?
I'm sorry. All human beings are equal, but in historical circumstances it can't be.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (2018)
Sabrina goes dark + Potter 2.0?
I barely remembered the older series of Sabrina the teenage witch. Thanks to this one, one remembered a lot, although there is not much connection between both of them. Names and places, but that's it. It also remembered me of Harry Potter. I mean, a "half blood" witch who encounters the dark lord, who is master of a dark cult? A school of magic? Forbidden books she uses to do forbidden things? A destiny she might have to fulfill? Anyways, I prefer Sabrina. Somehow innocent, cute, intelligent... surely due to the actress, who's gonna have a bright future. First I thought it was the story of a normal girl who got witch powers, but I learned I was wrong. Sabrina has always been a witch, with a witching family. Although she finds her love between the mortals.
What did surprise me is the easy way she does all the forbidden stuff. Someone died, so we resurrect that person, although is the most dark thing possible. She meets the dead without fearing to die and wields hell's flames as she would have done it all her life... it all happens too easy. Well, she's got help. Okay. That "hell" is what i dont like. Why so easily? Free will? Where? The end is the most horrible. She was just a playball for the devil... and may be even more used... All the fight for free will, for her friends and loved ones, was for nothing? I hope not.
I'm burning as in hell, awaiting a second season..... which may be less easy, less destiny, but more Sabrina and more free will.
Knock Knock (2015)
It's all about the sex scenes ....
I expected a movie that makes me feel the pain shown in it... maybe like "saw" or "hard candy" (which has a way "harder" ending).. to feel scared and horrible.
Nothing happened.
What do we have there? A father of two children, married to a sexy wife, stays alone over the weekend. Suddenly, two soaking wet sexy hot party-girls ring the bell of his door. Some smalltalk and they seduce him. Finally the sex scene! Yeah! The morning after, they don't want to leave and leave a mess in his house. To punish him, in the end, they leave him unable to move in a hole in his own garden, with a sex video of themselves playing on his cellphone in front of his face. Girls leave. Family arrives. END.
The beginning is all about waiting for the sex scene, because nothing else happens. After that, it's all simply disturbing. Not terrifying. It's disturbing and boring. It reminded me somehow of a guy in secondary school. One day, he wanted to come over to my house - without any reason. He was amazed of my videogames and we played. Then he didn't want to leave, closed himself into a room, threw things around and left a mess before he finally left. Same happens in the movie. Just with sexy girls and sex. So... instead of terror by some sexy chicks it's all about a children's game? YEP! It is.
So. Would a man like him let those girls enter his house? Would he allow them to seduce him? I mean... maybe he couldn't have sex that day with his wife, because the children came in, but i'm sure I would do it more than daily with a wife like his one. So he is not one of those guys with a boring or not-sexy wife who didn't have sex in months. Seems none of both had an affair. Everything fine and good. Why should he do it? But well... he did. What man never thought about two wet sexy girls ringing his bell and.. have a threesome? Why not? The end is the most disturbing. They left a mess. Okay. And?!? How are they gonna "punish" him? He can say that the girls made him do all of that stuff with a gun on his head and that's it. Police looks for girls, locks them up and end of story.
Watch it, if you want. After a while, you will jump to the sex scene, be bored of the rest of the movie and jump to the ending. I promise.
The Neon Demon (2016)
Why Elle Fanning?
I couldn't stand watching any more of this movie. I got half of it and just had to leave my comments about it right here. The first exercise not to despair were the 3 minutes of opening credits, without anything to show. The movie starts right in action. We don't know anything about that girl, she doesn't know anyone .... we're right there in any moment of her life.
What happens? Good question! Nothing happens! Scenes as long as Andy Warhol's most boring boredoms, mixed with nice colors and electronic music. All around Elle Fanning. Due to the fact that she is in reality a model, the following question answers itself: Is she good enough to be a model? But wait! She may be a model, but could she be that most beautiful creature as shown in the film? Is she tall enough? Is the pretty enough? I'm sure that someone else, someone really pretty, could have played her role much better. Someone more authentic and credible. That way, it wouldn't have been necessary to show all the other models dumb, to maintain balance to Elle's insecure smile and rather stupid laughter.
She's pretty, the models are pretty, but it could have been prettier. Way prettier. The story is boring, dialogs are quite dumb, scenes are too long. All that deserves my few given stars are the used colors, the music, scenery and the try to make a model related black swan story.
Sundown (2016)
Mexico without Mexicans and a good story told in a bad way...
I discovered this movie looking for more work of "Karla Souza". You may know her in the role of "Laurel" in "how to get away with murder"; she is quite famous in Mexico for several movies (rather funny ones trying to be romantic) and some funny (almost stupid and hilarious) comedy series. She's an image and Idol of the sexy, beautiful and successful Mexican actress. Karla is supposed to be in this movie. Have you found her?
Funny story that the main role of the sexy, Mexican girl is played by Camilla Belle. She is simply stunning, timelessly beautiful and so sexy! I loved to see her playing the Mexican girl. Although her accent sounds rather Russian than Mexican... and she forgets about it, especially when she yells at someone. That does not happen in reality, does it?
Talking about Reality: It was recorded in the very city of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Streets, buildings and public transports are real. This is where authenticity ends, because everything else is very exaggerated. The Taxi driver "Chuy" is the joking joke about taxi drivers of his kind. They really do exist! The "Chuys" in the reality don't have wrist bands which are VIP-Tickets to all clubs and events, but they know everyone, all places and have a lot of "Cousins" (not that many as Chuy). I'm sure even Pimps like Gaby's Boss may exist in Mexico, but also this one is very exaggerated.. and a real one probably wouldn't be afraid of Chuy's army of Cousins. So the whole Mexican part can't be taken serious... there is a connection to reality, but it's all exaggerated. Maybe the name of Karla Souza is a sign that the Mexican scenes are made her style. Funny, exaggerated and hilarious.
Besides, the story could be placed anywhere else. How about Las Vegas? Ibiza? Dubai? Why not? The movie wants to be advertising for Puerto Vallarta, but it's too sad we don't see much of it. Even the DJ's, which probably wouldn't work at tiny events as in the movie, don't help. Only Chuy (for the funny part) and Camilla (for the sexy part) make this movie watchable.
By the way, while the ending credits appear, some photos show what happened after the story. Karla Souza appears in a few images. So if you are going to watch this movie because of her, don't leave the theater too early!
