Piece of trash
27 August 2023
Wasted over an hour watching this piece of trash and should have turned it off after one of the early scenes with the cat in the kitchen. I only started it thinking it was a murder mystery type genre and it had Jon Voight in it. Whoever took the time and money to put this overly gory trash on film should have their license revoked and camera taken away. And Jon Voight should be ashamed for being in it. He must have owed the film maker something. It's junk. I won't give it any stars because it doesn't deserve any, only a vomit and several poop emojis. Lesson: picking a movie due to an actor is a big mistake. And why is there such a fascination with the F word with directors and writers these days? They can't think of some more creative words to say? Isn't that a writer's job? Any 2 bit foul mouth kid can throw the F word around in a movie. 💩 💩🚽

The High Chaparral: Ebenezer (1968)
Season 2, Episode 7

An excellent episode with some real history to it
7 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Great episode and one my personal favorites. It's a great story about the power of the press and the written word and and how important newspapers were in the early days of the west long before digital media and the internet came around. John McGiver plays the title role of Ebenezer Binns and does an excellent job, making the character believable and somebody you can get behind and applaud his courageous efforts in trying to establish Tucson's first newspaper. Arizona is still a territory at this point and has yet to become a state, so you can imagine how tough things were. The boy and his dog are a great addition to the story, characters brought into the story to help Ebenezer sell his paper and get it started. A great story and fun to watch.

All hat and no cattle

Warning: Spoilers
I did the free trial for yet another streaming service you have to pay for in order to watch a series so I could watch the first several episodes. I've watched the first 3 episodes so far and already find it blah. I like Nancy Travis from Last Man Standing as the family leader, and somehow watching this I wish I was watching Last Man Standing. And now Hallmark has to throw in the Brokeback Mountain theme to try and tell us gay cowboys should just be a normal part of ranch life. Hallmark, like Disney now, is no longer a safe experience for wholesome entertainment. Sad but true. And so far this series is just not that good or worth the time.

Bonanza: Five Candles (1969)
Season 10, Episode 22

Good script overall and good performances
1 September 2022
I don't agree with Thomas001's review of this episode in that Little Joe was annoying or caused a problem with how this episode plays out, it was still a very good episode. I'm a long time Bonanza fan and part of the reason it lasted as long as it did was due to Michael Landon and his portrayal of Little Joe throughout the series. This episode is no different.

As you watch you'll see the truth come out as to what's happening with these characters, especially the one trying to clear his name from being on trial for murder. Great character actors you'll notice throughout the episode and recognize them as a staple from other TV westerns like Big Valley, The Rifleman, and others. It may have been Tiffany Bolling's best part as Callie, for later in her career she played mostly in B movie trashy flicks. Good, tense, episode worth watching.

Important story about the damaging effects of drug addiction
1 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This is a good story, which I feel has Michael Landon's touch all over it, about drug addiction at a time when there were no treatment programs for it or meetings to go to help a person deal with it. At a time when TV and the media were just beginning to deal with the issue, the doctor becomes seriously and fatally addicted to morphine that ruins a promising career as a doctor along with destroying others at the same time. Great cast and good story writing in dealing with a sensitive but important that we're still dealing with today, such as the current opioid addiction crises that continues to ruin lives. This is a great episode to take a look at to help remind us all how important it is to take control of any addiction before it controls you.

Fun episode
8 May 2022
Bonanza is still one of my all time favorite series, westerns or otherwise, and this is a fun episode with comedy and some satire mixed in. It's not one of their best, but Michael Landon and Dan Blocker had great chemistry together throughout the series, and this another good example of it.
