Hello Mini (2019)
Biggest surprise and a must watch for everyone (Adult).......
I didn't expect anything from platforms like Alt Balaji, Mx Player and all, but to my biggest surprise and shock these OTT platforms are delivering some of the most spectacular Indian web series-es which most of the viewers don't expect, and the most shocking out of all is this 'Hello Mini', I mean every individual (adult of-course) must get this experience in their lifetime for once for my sake! I can assure you guys that you will be mesmerised after watching this, I can bet! The concept, the writing, the performances, direction, screen-play, BGM I mean almost everything is so apt! Its 22 episodes long, so must have certain flaws, BUT I'll overlook almost each and every flaws it's got for it's shear brilliance in writing, direction, acting performances & BGM departments. The biggest surprise and a very worthy moment in the Indian film-making history. 8.5/10.
Aspirants (2021)
Worth a watch.....but just a little more we want!
There was a web series named 'KOTA FACTORY' which was trend setter, before that the brilliant 'Preachers' and after that, 'Aspirants', and I'm damn sure that more surprises to come in the future from TVF originals. The moral of the story is parallel cinemas/web series are the future of Indian film, and people will soon realise that the end of Bollywood films are not too far, because if this is the level of film making which anybody can watch almost free of cost then there must be something very bad is going to happen with Bollywood industry especially after these pandemic situation! Audience is not stupid and as they say 'Content is the King!' TVF has proved it once again, but just a little disappointed that 'Aspirants' is winded up so swiftly, explanations of a few unanswered questions should be given by at least editing few song sequences which were too long and for that it remained a little bit incomplete in the end. But still we are mesmerised by the performances, story telling, background scores & cinematography, all in all it's worth a watch!
Chernobyl (2019)
No body should miss it....I warn you!
Boyo Boy!! What the heck! This is just unreal.....(Very real).........I just can't express my feelings towards this mini-series, so perfect! It reminded me of 'Breaking Bad' in terms of its quality and impact! Though it's a mini-series based upon a true event in Russia that occurred in 1986. But there is so much to learn from it, it's a lifetime experience, pretty like our present COVID situation, a dialogue goes like, "We may know the cost of truth, but do we really know the cost of lie!" I mean it's not a dialogue, it's a life lesson! In every department, this movie is outstandingly brilliant! A 9.5/10, if there is no 'Breaking Bad' ever existed then this series would surely grab a perfect 10 on 10. Guys don't miss it!
Kumbalangi Nights (2019)
An old gem......mesmerising !!!!
No words for Fahad Faasil & Friends, such a gem of movies they are producing, top-notch script, top-notch acting, top-notch direction, top-notch screenplay, top-notch music, and so on.....I think this is probably the best Malayalam film I've ever seen. Guys go for it until it gets copied by Bollywood and got ruined completely. Hats off to the makers.....outstandingly brilliant !!!!
Joji (2021)
Seamless and brilliant....
This is a new era of movies and yet another masterpiece from the south industry which defines no hero but characters only can drive a movie into the minds of the audience. An anti hero Faahad Fasil again delivers something very unique, very 'ordinary' and seamless performance with which we can find resemblance to so many people amongst us, of course not as criminal minded as he is but kind of 'good at nothing & lazy' type. But still wondering why is that rating? Let me explain its actually an 8.5/10, this movie is very easy going and a few more tricks and detailing could have been better, I know that its nit-picking! But the ending has everyone's own perspective, kind of open ended which is also a master stroke! I really wanted to give it a 9 out of 10 but then again wanted a tiny little more! Go for it guys coz ultimately it's brilliant!
Godzilla vs. Kong (2021)
Its all about hype
There was a time when some of the fabulous films like King Kong 2005, The Hurt Locker or even Godzilla 2014 were not getting good ratings and reviews from the IMDB users. And now comes Godzilla Vs Kong and gets a rating beyond 8.0 + and also gets rave reviews from the so called YouTube critics, I don't understand what's wrong with the viewers now-a-days, are all these for publicity stunts only or there is something else! But, at the end of the day it's quite clear that it's all about business and nothing else. People like you and me fall into such traps and spend our hard earned money and time especially in these pandemic situation and go to the theatres to watch such movies and get disappointed. The hype that has been created with this movie is totally unjustified because its the most stupid portrayal of a monster movie, even VFX was not that great, it looks like hi-end PS4 games. The overall concept of the movie is totally rubbish. Only because of the monster fighting scenes its watchable, but then again when I compare it with the scenes of Kong fighting with the dinosaurs in King Kong 2005 and even with the fight scenes from Godzilla 2014 it doesn't stand out as the clear winner. So ultimately its a big disappointment.
Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story (2020)
Surprisingly worth a watch.......8.5/10
This is pretty new for me as I didn't know that there was a man called Harshad Mehta registered in GUINNESS BOOK OF WORLD RECORDS and his filmy story ever existed in the history of India! Very surprising for me as well as for a lot of other viewers for sure, so there should be a movie on him and here it is with no inhibitions at all, but could turn out to be a masterpiece if no 'BREAKING BAD' ever existed, I'm sure lot of my fellow users wouldn't like this comment of mine, so now get ready for some more - the lead actor, I don't find that he was an apt choice for the role especially with his skinny voice and fast accent. Though, we all feel pity for this character especially towards the ending and that's because of the different type of look he portrayed and the situation which he went through. The overall direction is very good and some other supporting casts did exceptionally brilliant jobs with their parts, Rajat Kapoor with his small role is the USP for this movie which certainly make the audience stand up and applaud for him and I'm sure everyone will agree, such a supreme talent he really is! A little more finishing is what it lacks as otherwise it has everything to become the best web series of India, no doubt. An 8.5/10.
Chaman Bahaar (2020)
Very fresh and very touchy...........jio Jeetu bhaia !!
Very ordinary yet very effective storytelling backed by stellar performances by Jeetendra Kumar, Yogendra tiku, Bhagwan Tiwari and others and with perfect music make a perfect 'Chaman Bahaar'. What more to say, I salute those makers who can dare to make such films at ease without thinking about it's business ratings as most of the bollywood film-makers do before making such films and end up making over-cooked khichris. And of-course this Jeetu bhaia the x-factor always clicks. I don't want to do any operation in this movie review but just want to encourage each and everyone of you the public for watching this immediately.....as I'm damn sure you won't be disappointed.
A 7.5/10 for sure.
Bulbbul (2020)
Good but just not there.........wish it won't have those little flaws.....otherwise it's a masterpiece !!!
I won't go for any nepotism kind of statements today but whatever is happening behind ultimately it's only upto the viewers to judge what's right and what's not. People are going to decide the fate of our movie industries and it's no individual's responsibility. But after watching 'Bulbbul' the only thing that I can definitely tell that movies like Bulbbul have a very bright future ahead. The cast, the crew, the music, the locations everything is so meticulously designed that one must have got immersed very deep inside this fictitious world of Bulbbul. The same goes with the movie 'Pari' as well. These newcomers (makers) have given great justice to some of our neglected and forgotten talents from different parts of our nation, and that's what a movie is all about, that's how all movies should be treated as there are no boundaries in arts, all actors, makers, every individual related to film-making should be allowed to perform in every platform and only then we can get to see more and more movies like this. Rahul Bose is always a very fab actor and it is proven once again in this movie, Parambrata is surprising us right from 'Kahani' as he is like water who fits so easily in any act, in any language, such a talent! Paoli is very hot and ofcourse a very good actor which is proven here also. We all want these actors to do more and more multilingual Indian films especially hindi films. Now comes the USP of this movie and it is undoubtedly the Bulbbul himself, Tripti Dimri, such a show she pulled off, one of the best female acts in recent times. Her casting is so perfect for this role, such a charmer she is that any bollywood female leads of the present times can envy her. We can easily overlook so many flaws in this movie just for Tripti's Bulbbul and she should be highly recognized for this role by the industry. Even Avinash Tiwari another young talent performed superbly as well. The cinematography needs special mention. The only negative as I think is the climax, otherwise, it would have been a masterpiece !!! Go guys watch it !!
Aamis (2019)
Get ready for a a stomach crunching experience......!!!
There are such surprising talents all over the world when it comes to film-making. Most of us have recently astonished by the South Korean movies especially after the worldwide recognition of a masterpiece like PARASITE. But then again we are surprised!! And this time it is not for any other Film Industries but for our Indian Film Industry (but surely it's not BOLLYWOOD !!!). Now it's the Assamese Movie Industry which has offered another masterpiece in the name of AAMIS. I am pretty sure that you all will be highly surprised after seeing this but only if you can bear this. It's pretty haunting. The direction, acting, music, cinematography, screenplay everything are so apt that you will get a feeling of the script being based upon some sort of original incident. Though I am not pretty sure of it, but one thing I am damn sure about is that this will blow your mind and make your stomach crunch like never before. An 8.5/10 for sure.
96 (2018)
Top notch.....Masterpiece........ & So on.......
There are very few stories, in-fact real incidents which when converted into movies turn into fiction. And there are few fictions which when converted into movies turn into reality. I think that is the case with 96 where the makers have been promoting this as a fiction. But believe me, there are so many people who may find themselves in the leads of this movie. The very situations and special feelings it offers which I think perhaps the best cinematic portrayal of many of ours/ordinary people's real life!! 96 is so moving that I think almost every body "EXCEPT THE CELEBRITY KIDS" of our nation find an immediate connect. Vijay Setupathi is the ultimate in 96. He just changes the definition of heroism and one must see him to learn what acting is all about !!! So many big actors of the film industry now-a-days have made themselves Global Icons with there aura, heroism and fan-base, even founded themselves in Madame Tussauds and all that. But in reality when it comes to acting talent then its the guys like Vijay Setupathi inspite of maintaining a very low profile in the industry beat those big names quite easily. But its the audience who I thing often got distracted with all those glitz and glamours & there lies the fate of such giant actors like Vijay Setupathi. I mean by looking at Vijay's RAMACHANDRAN in 96 I wonder why this actor is so underrated!! Not even a National Film Award !!! WTF !!! I think it is proved once again that its the south industry who is still offering original artist as well as contents and we all should look up to them from now on. There is nothing much to say about this movie coz if I try then it will be an entire essay. I just urge everyone to go and watch it immediately, but do hear the songs in original Tamil. All in all a masterpiece !!!!
Panchayat (2020)
Like a breath of fresh air.......A MUST WATCH
Better late than never! It's the connect; one must feel it to enjoy it. So many of us must have some experiences in working under a village condition or in a place far away from urban life where we use to live. And it is those areas where one can experience such innocence, simplicity and emotional connect that remain inside our hearts forever. PANCHAYAT is one of that kind which viewers are going to remember for a long long time because it's so original! I am really hoping that makers will not rush into premiering it's sequel very soon or rather they shouldn't bring any sequel. Because if they do there will be a high possibility of blunder. I am so conservative about this because I am in LOVE with this. It's got a very simple but effective plot, brilliant performances and a top-notch direction. Raghuvir Yadav is at his best; and it's a statement to all our front-line actors, film-makers & to our so-called heroes of bollywood who mostly use to believe in looking great, fighting great and dancing great, but their acting short-falls........come-on.......... who cares a damn as long as it earns money!!! But it's the person like Raghuvir Yadav an under-utilized gem who proves that after-all it's the acting that really matters. Then there is Jitendra Kumar, another great find, a real talent! so natural & spontaneous! Hoping for his BRIGHT career ahead. Chandan Roy, Faisal Malik and few other supporting casts are so refreshing and spontaneous! I mean this is not acting but it's like real people doing their day-to-day works! A BRILLIANT portrayal of characters. And last but not the least, the flow of the episodes is so unstoppable!! Hats-off. Dekhlo.......pyar me par jaoge!!!
Special OPS (2020)
Family-man alike yet special !!! Highly recommended for everyone guys....
It's really heart-breaking that a show like this is not getting enough response from the viewers coz it's really SPECIAL!!! A couple of months ago a brilliant and something similar show came-up which was titled "The Family-Man" on Amazon-prime and even after a brilliant piece like 'Asur' from VOOT "Special Ops" makes its mark quite deep. Then again, with this content and stellar performances makers could make this a 10 on 10 but fails and so as the ratings suggest. Why we can't make a perfect 10 on 10 like Vince Gilligan, David Benioff & D.B. Weiss did even with their longest-running TV series ??? I think that's only because of the backdrop of commercialization. As in case of Special Ops where the whole bunch of agents toying and tricking with the villains in UAE, few unnecessary love angels, too much sharp and colourful visuals and of-course rich but not so well executed action sequences unlike in Family-man, poor performances of the foreign villains and not so convincing finish restricted this from becoming a perfect scorer. But with Kay Kay's killer performance, we may overlook so many flaws as this guy deserves a HATS-OFF. I thing unlike Manoj Bajpayee in the Family-Man Kay Kay showed how to tackle such acts with shear responsibility and ease. Even Vinay Pathak, Karan Tacker, Gautami and of-course Divya Dutta deserve full credits for their brilliant portrayal of characters. Divya Dutta again proves that only a few screen presence is enough to make a mark on the viewer's mind because whenever she appeared on screen we felt like threatened which even our main antagonists Hafiz, Ismile etc. even after getting bigger screen time couldn't deliver. I wish makers didn't make those mistakes, otherwise, it would have been a blast!!!
Mard Ko Dard Nahin Hota (2018)
This movie perhaps one of the best surprises of Bollywood....very impressive !!!
It's a gem of a movie which is pretty unexpected from bollywood. I know why it's got only 7.4, that's because it doesn't contain BIG names and that's how it delivers a big punch on the face of this industry which often runs by nepotism. The screenplay is so unique and so as the performances. There are clap-worthy moments in the film too. And the action...my god....which can easily beat most of our bollywood action movies, even that of Baaghi & Commando series I can bet. Background scores are also very refreshing. All in all very impressive........8.5/10 for sure. Renowned bollywood movie makers are surely having a tough time out there. I would appeal all viewers to be more appreciative towards these small budget movies which got contents. Wake-up guys coz otherwise we won't be able to see these sort of original movies again !!!
Asur: Welcome to Your Dark Side (2020)
Worth a watch.......
Asura, divine, in Hindu mythology, class of beings defined by their opposition to the devas or suras (gods). Every individual is a combination of both SURA & ASUR, the bright & the dark.......I think that it tries to portray. But that's not all. Episode after episode it reveals so many hidden aspects and one has to concentrate hard to find what's exactly going on. You couldn't miss a single moment as you might not be able to understand, and it doesn't allow you to do so. It is that engaging & gripping. All credit goes to the makers, the actors & ofcourse the background scores. But yes it has some flaws too which I wish is not there. Like it lacks pace, few sloppy performances, few 'Dark Knight' inspired scenes with much lesser pace and not that gripping climax. But the detailing, science & mythological plots incorporated in it makes it "worth-a-watch."
Bhoot: Part One - The Haunted Ship (2020)
Watchable......
Bhoot stories are nothing new but can be presented in different ways, with modern days technologies and of-course with modern thinking. But unfortunately this movie in-spite of being in a modern era doesn't offer you any freshness like 'Stree' did. But with a below average expectations viewers may find this quite watchable. The visual effects, background scores and Vicky's act (to some extent) make this movie pretty interesting and thus it does't bore viewers. But, that's it. There is nothing more to mention.
Malang - Unleash the Madness (2020)
no logic......disappointing!
Its disappointing because this movie could be far better. I am not comparing this with any other similar movies if there. But it had something different in it which needed again a better treatment. It feels stretched and lacks pace. The climax doesn't make any sense too. 'Just to create a story out of nothing'- sorts of strategies don't work well. This movie is an example of that as it doesn't hold the attention of the viewers. Though, couple of rave party scenes, few soundtracks, gorgeous Disha, Kunal's post interval act and the body transformation of Aditya are to watch out for guys. All-in-all below average.
Street Dancer 3D (2020)
not that bad guys........
Ya.....It's pretty late and that's because of again the illogical & stupid ratings by my fellow users. I mean come-on....guys!!! What's wrong with the IMDB users these days!!!! They seem pretty confused & biased as they don't know what ratings should have given to what movie. If I am not wrong then I thing most of these users are letting the standards of IMDB down. Now, after all that crap let's get into the movie review-and It's surely not as bad as the overall rating shows. Being a dance lover I quite enjoyed the movie. Though it's not as good as its predecessors but still its a handful watch. Story could have been far better and so as the characterizations. Dance numbers are very good, and Norah.......my god!!!! She in her street avatar looked ecstatic! She really danced like a pro. She is the USP of this movie and because of her this movie is worth-a-watch I guess. But her role was limited and again it's a drawback. This movie also felt a little stretched. But overall it doesn't bore the viewers. But it required a better treatment for sure. Pretty watchable guys......go & have fun!
Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior (2020)
There is no logic behind 8+ rating guys!! Coz it's an AVERAGE!!
Reviewing 'Tanhaji' is little difficult for me as there is already a 8.7 rating its' got. While watching this movie when it was already scored 9 by my fellow IMDB users I was constantly tallying the movie with the rating & honestly it didn't match up to that rating. In that way this movie is quite disappointing. However, It's obvious that after a masterpiece like 'Baahubali' any movie in that genre will automatically get a comparison. Though it's a little harsh but that's the way it is. Though it's a good try but when the benchmark is already set and set so high makers could have been more careful while making this movie.
Now, come to performances- Ajay as Tanhaji did an ok job; Saif as Udaybhan-the villain did pretty good job, though his character could be more dynamic, but again the comparison-his character reminded me of Ranveer's Alauddin Khalji from Padmaavat & I thing Saif didn't match up to Ranveer; Sharad Kelkar as Shivaji was brilliant even in very small parts of his role in the movie, he looked like a Maharaaja, he acted like a Maharaaja, he proves that it's not only his voice (the 'Baahubali' voice) but also his acting can be an asset for bollywood as its enough to leave a deep impression on audience's mind just like Baahubali; Kajol as Savitribai also did full justice to her character with her matured acting; like the great Srideviji this actor is playing her second innings in full form! I have never been so impressed about Kajol's acting untill this movie.
VFX/CGI was good but not great, screenplay is poor, the movie lacks its pace sometimes, 3-D doesn't add any betterment for the movie.
So, except being an entertainer only there is nothing fresh this movie offers. And users need to be more logical before rating any movie so high.
Marjaavaan (2019)
Sach me marjaavaan
There is no option like '0' or 'Dislike' and that's why 'single star' for it. Actually it's a big zero. So stupid this movie is and I really don't understand the 'funda' of making such films. At this age of Amazon, Netflix etc. wherein damn powerful contents are being released day-in-&-out to mesmerize the audience and these idiots are presenting films like this. Its a shame for Bollywood. Stop making such films to waste our time and money you idiots!!
Terminator: Dark Fate (2019)
This terminator is pretty watchable........
After a long gap since 1991 when a masterpiece of a movie called 'Terminator 2: Judgment Day' released worldwide and immediately created buzz, this movie quite lived-up to that buzz. It is perhaps the best version of terminator series after Terminator 2: Judgment Day I guess. But before watching this viewers should forget that there were other terminator movies released before this post Terminator 2: Judgment Day. They should see Terminator 2: Judgment Day rather. This movie begins with the backdrop of Terminator 2: Judgment Day. So there is no need to recall other stupid terminator movies already released before this. Without experimenting too much this movie rather deals with a simple story-line and Terminator:2 like character backed with stunning VFX and action sequences. Linda Hamilton could not emote that well and that's a let down. There were a few clumsy moments as well in this movie.
Gabriel Luna as the main villain did a great job. So without much expectation because of the stupid earlier versions of terminators post Terminator:2 this movie is surely pretty watchable.
Joker (2019)
Indecisive
This is a kind of movie on which there must be a lot of debate. After watching this there must be a constant battle between mind and brain of each and every viewers for sure. Because of the indecisive character this movie portrays viewers will get confused whether they should appreciate this Joker or should hate him. But the story behind this is just a one liner. Then there are constant awkward laughter of the Joker throughout the movie which seems pretty nagging, the background violin is also very depressing and the last part of the movie is also very disturbing. All of these aspects will ultimately leave a dark impression on viewers mind and will make them think. But the character portrayal of Joker by Phoenix is something unreal, unbelievable as he was like a school of acting. Though this movie is not for everyone guys......!!!!
The Family Man (2019)
The Bomb yet to be explored !!!!
It's like very sad that the rating which is given by me is very low for a bomb like this. I wished it could have a 9.5 or some thing close to that. But then again the title is not justifying it's brilliance, few pretty cliche moments, average acting by the lead Manoj Bajpayee and of-course the BREAKING BAD alike features are stopping it from getting a 10 on 10. But otherwise this is like a bomb yet to be exploded. A bunch of great acting, Hollywood standard camera work, jaw dropping action sequences especially the car crashes & shoot-out scenes which looked damn real, great locations and a few glimpse of BREAKING BAD or we may call it as BREAKING BAD moments. All of these have made me go crazy for it! Neeraj Madhav (Moosa) needs a special mention for his brilliant portrayal of a cold blooded terror, very refreshing. Contributions in movies from the southern part of India have always been very memorable and this MOOSA is a living example of that. Bollywood should never forget that. I think time has come when makers need to stop wasting so many bucks on making stupid action films like WAR etc. Rather they should learn from these kind of content driven action movies. It's also kind of sad that a legendary actor like Manoj Bajpayee is under pressure !! He is not at his best now-a-days. His clumsy & skinny face tells it clear. As such, in this the family man is not leading from the front in terms of acting. Though brilliant direction, screenplay and other departments already mentioned above have covered up each and every flaws this movie have. Moreover the edge-of-the-seat climax will surely make the viewers very hungry for the next season. Eagerly waiting for this bomb to get explored.
Season 2: I won't compare this to season 1 as that would be unfair, BUT it's not good enough! We expected a lot, despite having some of the finest actors of our industries the director duo couldn't pull it off, the reason being "bollywoodish" commercialisation, and there lies a big problem with this season. The halfheartedly choreographed action sequences, unfinished screenplays, failure in creating gripping moments, I mean it's hard to believe! The acting performances though were brilliant, and ofcourse Manoj Bajpayee is in his form here, but I again blame the director duo for not crafting the talents well enough like they did in season 1, and Samantha.....oh she is great! She did full justice to her character, but I wish she gave a little more efforts in her running shots as she otherwise looked damn tough. Overall it is not bad, but could have been much much better!
War (2019)
why this stupid WAR !!!!
After a stupid BANG BANG here comes a stupid WAR. And the most funny part is that the makers are thinking about its sequel !!!! I don't know what for this movie was .......business ???? I think so........and this is the most disappointing part of bollywood filmmakers. It's all about business, not about art. Even reviewing such movies is a shame. Though Two Stars are only for Hrithik & Tiger. That's it.
Saaho (2019)
Messy........Jai Ho
Begin with Prabhas, his presence wasn't felt that well except in a few fight scenes & in those music videos where he performed just superbly!!! Any body if thinking that he is just a "one film wonder guy" then they need to see these music videos, as they will find how versatile and brilliant Prabhas really is. Thus his presence is the only thing a movie needs to break all records & that's what happening now I guess. But it doesn't deviate the viewers from finding out flaws in the film as most of the viewers like me will surely find this movie a real mess !!! Three long years, about 360 crore budget, the great Prabhas & a so so director with an experience of making only one so so film, this is really unbelievable !!! Shraddha Kapoor though looked very MISHTI. Action sequences were also good but not great. However..........JAI HO !!!!!
