Champions (2023)
Saw the ending...then didn't
Difficult movie to review properly. Was mostly the predictable fodder you get in these movies...different take on the genre made it so much better for me. For example, as usual the Coach doesn't want the job...but under duress reluctantly accepts, and again, as usual once in the job starts to draw out all of their inner beauty. How many times have we seen that movie? So far so predictable. However wasn't too overly sentimental, and the ending was the direct opposite of what I expected , thought I saw it coming but didn't ...better for that. Cast were excellent. A film like this doesn't always need the perfect happy ending...this one was better for that.
Blue Collar (1978)
Don't waste your time
Honestly, a really poor movie, was really struggling with it from the start. Less than a quarter of the way through checked the reviews. Mostly fairly positive, so let's charge on........Big mistake, really....really...really slow, you keep thinking that something significant will happen. It never does. Better stuff out there.
Your Honor (2020)
Very disappointed after a promising beginning
Saw a few early reviews of the first episode and given the cast involved, this did indeed look to be highly promising. First episode was indeed promising and seemed to be a first class set up for what I thought was to come. Sadly went very steeply downhill after that. Numerous gaping plot holes and impossible coincidences as well as totally unexplainable and foolish behaviour, by most involved was to follow. As an example in the middle of the story a blackmailer turned up....no explanation or back story for this guy, just turned up randomly, no idea or detail as to where he got his evidence from? Just appeared from nowhere and asked for a massive amount of money?? Seriously?? Also, and this is a personal thing. Loved Michael Stuhlbarg in season three Fargo, so found it really difficult to believe his role as a top mob boss in this.
