Street Food: Latin America (2020)
Food: the mirror of the roots.
It's really great how the documentary shows the roots and traditions of those Latinoamerican countries, and how its food is the outcome of thousand of year of traditions, but also the result of braves hearts of common people that found in street cuisine a way to raise their children, and keep they hope and passion alive.
Of course, after you finish the serie, you will have the necessity on your heart to go to those places and eat that marvelous food.
All the Bright Places (2020)
Good Introduction, awful conclusion.
Don't waist your time watching this movie. At the beginning it has a great chemistry between two main characters, and it's so genuine. But when the story has to be deeply and intimate it just ruined it. There's no connection with the viewer, no subtexts, and no ability to develop a story with great potential.
It's a very shy way to approach suicide and too romantic whit a topic which is not.
Miss Americana (2020)
Empty
It's a quite bad documentary. At the end, It was made to show herself as the perfect woman (again). Which is radically the opposite of what the narrative of Taylor was at the first 25 minutes of the video.
You cannot say you're tired to be the "good girl" and then make a documentary that shows to the world how politically correct you are (because be honest, we all know support LGBTIQ and hate Donald Trump is the mainstream, nowadays well seen, and it's what the "good women and men" do).
Andy Murray: Resurfacing (2019)
Intimate and honest. This is how a documentary about sport's players must always be.
This is one of the best documentaries about sport's players ever crested and probably the best of a tennis one. You can connect with Andy just as the crowd do in the courts. The Documentary shows literally what was on Andy's head during whole process of injuries, surgeries and rehabilitation almost directly with not much cuts neither editing. Also, this production never falls in the extra dramatization, the manipulation of feelings or the way of be a "feel good" story. It's pretty real bad honest to us and let us meet more about who Andy really is. The voice notes and the self recording moments are simply perfect, because they make us feel close to the player and let us know the backstage of all that process of recuperation. Finally, I'd like to say Andy puts on the table many things about social media, magazines, newspapers and a so, that really make us thing about what we say en social media about famous pakyers, and what's more relevant, what the big journalist and experts say about players.
Historia de un crimen: Colmenares (2019)
The good: unbiased, the bad: try to do too much
Let me start with the conclusion,
If you like crime stories you should definitely watch this serie, it is really interesting and it is amazingly similar to the real case. If you are looking for high quality in performances, photography, and directing, it is not for you.
I am from Colombia. That crime was so popular from 2010 to 2013, and even in 2019 is not 100% closed. The first positive point is the cast, surprisingly similar to the real people involved in the case, really the actos looks like the twins. Also, the serie did not take any side, just expose the reality according to Colombian law and courts, which is suitable given the circumstances - almost every single colombian person know the case and think Laura and Jessy are guilty-. Sadly, this is not enought, because the greatest point is also the most negative one ,the mayority of actors and actress did not make a good performance, even when they are so similar to real characters. They failed in way to create tension at critical moments (excepting the brother of the main character and Jessy), but the sountrack did not help neither, nor the photography.
Bad Times at the El Royale (2018)
It's a weird experience but enjoyable
It's pretentious, of course. It's not for every kind of public, yes. But this movie deserve to be watch. The play roles are so good, the scenerios and music it's top, and surprisly the story makes you feel the drama so good, thanks to the film puts you on a position of "I don't know what's happening, where will the movie go? ". That helps to create the suspense. Sadly, that do is the reason why the movie is not remarkable; we don't understand what is the purpose of the story, there are big loops and it feels like the movie has a great argumental picture but the director doesn't know how to finish it with success.
A Star Is Born (2018)
One of the Best Reboots
It's necessary to say that there has't been a film with this high level of chemistry betweet actor and actress in a long time. All the songs are really powerful and have the right balance with the narative.
Bradley debut as a Director is a complete success. It's not a innovative thing or a "all in risk", but it really works for the audience.
Pájaros de verano (2018)
Cultural Patrimony of Humanity
Exciting, symbolic, cultural, philosophical and dramatic. These are the words that can best describe this Colombian cultural work by Cristina Gallego & Ciro Guerra. From the first 10 minutes he puts in focus cultures and linguistic samples -First movie spoken in Wuayú- typical of an aboriginal society of South America that had never been explored in the seventh art. There lies the beauty of the film, because it takes the time to show and exhibit an ancestral indigenous culture with the help of impeccable photography, unforgettable landscapes, masterful actors direction and a narrative style in the best style of La Iliada.
The public will encounter a family drama with shades of narco novel. However, the latter should not disappoint the public, since the whole issue related to marijuana is just a thread that allows us to unite the center of the film, a story about the decadence of the ancient values and traditions of an aboriginal people of the Peninsula of the Guajira.
Possible Spoiler, To enjoy the film better, it is advisable to pay special attention to the use of songs and animals as a connection between the spiritual world and the material world.
We are facing one of the best films that Colombian cinema has given birth to. It will surely be nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the Oscars 2019, and who knows, maybe it'll keep the prize. Cultural Patrimony of Humanity
