The Under Dog
This is a feel good movie about the under dog beating the odds. This film uses the exact locations not just sets so you get a real sense of what it was like and even the real jockey who rode Mine That Bird. Most of the actual characters get cameo's somewhere in the film and the actors who were chosen to portray them do a great job. I am a big fan of Christian Kane and love him in this movie as it's close to his Texas cowboy persona. The rest of the actors Skeet Ulrich, William Devane and all the others do a great job too. It's not a huge cast so all the characters develop through the film and it was only shot on a comparatively low budget of about $8.5 million so given that the scope of the movie is amazing. Good fun and entertainment for all.

Friends and relationships
This movie has lots of actors/actress's with overlapping stories but is still easy to watch and follow. It's based on old college friends and how they have grown apart and together since finishing. The 2 main characters were together but separated and she has since married. The ex comes back for a wedding reunion and still has feelings for his old flame. This causes some anger, understandably for her now husband Christian Kane as she sorts through her feelings about her ex. Through out the film other characters figure out what they want and where they are going in their lives. As I like Christian Kane, it's great to see him play this kind of character and for him to keep his girl as usually his characters in other films ends up as the bad guy or alone! In the end everyone seems to find what they are looking for an come closer as a result.

A Family friendly movie
I recently watched this film and thoroughly enjoyed it. This is a great family friendly movie with great cast of main characters and supporting actors. Michael Caine and Robert Duvall as the old uncles are fabulous and i couldn't see anyone else doing these characters justice. I'm a fan of Christian Kane so the choice of him for a younger version worked very well for me. Hayley Joel Osment is great as the young Walter is so appealing.
The flashbacks are a little tongue in cheek and are meant that way as they are told to a young boy and given a little "poetic license" to entertain him. I think that this movie has something for everyone and can't think of a reason for anyone to dislike it. A great way to spend an hour and 3/4!
