Testament: The Story of Moses (2024)
Moses Miniseries: Did Hollywood Rewrite the Bible?
Testament: The Story of Moses aspires to be a captivating blend of historical drama and religious narrative. However, it falters on both fronts. The visuals fail to impress, appearing more like a mediocre TV movie than a high-budget miniseries. Moreover, the show's portrayal of the biblical tale strays from accuracy in ways that may frustrate viewers seeking a faithful adaptation.
But the most glaring misstep lies in Testament's attempt to reinterpret the classic story through a contemporary social justice lens. This forced approach feels entirely out of place within the ancient Egyptian setting. Instead of enriching the narrative, it justructs the story's emotional impact and undermines its timeless themes.
If you're looking for a visually stunning and faithful portrayal of the Moses story, Testament: The Story of Moses is a disappointment. It might hold some appeal for those seeking a heavily dramatized reimagining with a modern twist, but even for that audience, the execution falls short.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods (2023)
Entertaining But Too Predictable
Shazam! Fury of the Gods had the potential to be a thunderous sequel, but alas, it proved to be nothing more than a feeble flicker in the superhero universe. As a fan of the original Shazam! Film, it pains me to say that this installment fell short in nearly every aspect, leaving me utterly disappointed.
One of the most glaring issues with this movie was its narrative structure. The story felt disjointed and lacked a cohesive flow. It seemed as though the filmmakers were unsure of the direction they wanted to take, resulting in a convoluted mess of subplots that failed to deliver any emotional impact. The pacing was erratic, jumping from one scene to another without allowing the audience to fully immerse themselves in the story. It left me constantly questioning the purpose of certain scenes and struggling to connect with the characters.
Speaking of characters, the development in Fury of the Gods was sorely lacking. The first film did an exceptional job of establishing the camaraderie between the foster family and their transformation into superheroes. However, this sequel failed to build upon those foundations. The characters felt one-dimensional and their motivations were muddled at best. Even the villains, who had the potential to be menacing and captivating, were reduced to mere caricatures with minimal depth or backstory.
Furthermore, the action sequences, which should have been the film's saving grace, were surprisingly lackluster. The special effects were underwhelming, with a noticeable drop in quality compared to the first film. The choreography lacked creativity and failed to evoke any sense of excitement or awe. It felt like a missed opportunity to truly showcase the powers and abilities of the characters, leaving me yearning for the thrilling spectacle I had come to expect from superhero movies.
Additionally, the humor that made the original Shazam! So enjoyable seemed forced and uninspired in Fury of the Gods. The jokes fell flat, and the comedic timing was off. It felt as though the film was trying too hard to recapture the charm of its predecessor, but in doing so, it lost its authenticity and genuine humor.
In conclusion, Shazam! Fury of the Gods was a tremendous letdown. It failed to capture the magic of the original film, delivering a disjointed narrative, underdeveloped characters, lackluster action, and uninspired humor. It lacked the spark and excitement that a superhero movie should possess, leaving me with a sense of disappointment and a yearning for the lightning to strike twice.
The Portable Door (2023)
A disappointing departure from expectations
"The Portable Door" is a fantasy film that sets out to blend magic, humor, and adventure, but unfortunately falls short of its intended mark. As a viewer who expected an engaging and captivating experience, it pains me to admit that this movie missed the mark and failed to resonate with my personal taste.
The film centers around the story of Paul Carpenter, a young man who lands an internship at J. W. Wells & Co., a mysterious company specializing in the supernatural. The plot attempts to unravel the mysteries of this magical world, with Paul navigating his way through a series of misadventures while pursuing his dreams. While this premise initially held promise, the execution left much to be desired.
One of the main drawbacks of "The Portable Door" lies in its pacing and overall structure. The narrative feels disjointed and lacks a cohesive flow, leaving the audience struggling to remain invested in the characters and their journeys. Additionally, the attempts at humor often fall flat, with forced jokes and gags that fail to elicit genuine laughter.
Furthermore, the character development in the film is shallow and underwhelming. Despite the best efforts of the cast, which includes talented actors such as Patrick Gibson and Gemma Whelan, the poorly written dialogue and lack of depth hinder their ability to truly shine. As a result, it becomes challenging to form any emotional connection or investment in the characters' fates.
The visual effects and production design of "The Portable Door" are commendable, showcasing a world of enchantment and wonder. However, these elements alone cannot compensate for the film's fundamental flaws. The plot meanders without clear direction, and the storytelling lacks the necessary depth and complexity to engage the audience fully.
Ultimately, "The Portable Door" failed to deliver a compelling cinematic experience. Its disjointed narrative, weak character development, and subpar humor prevented me from fully engaging with the film. While it may have its merits for those with different tastes or a fondness for the source material, for me, it fell short of expectations.
If you are seeking an immersive fantasy film that strikes a balance between magic, humor, and adventure, "The Portable Door" may not be your cup of tea. Instead, I would recommend exploring other films within the genre that offer a more captivating and satisfying experience.

Finish this movie review...Great story. Great acting. Great message! If we had more movies like this and less of the terrible stuff Hollywood is putting out our country and culture would be so different, for the better!
This movie is a shining example of how powerful cinema can be in shaping our society. From the powerful performances of the cast to the thought-provoking themes explored in the story, every aspect of this film is executed flawlessly.
The message conveyed by the movie is particularly impactful, as it touches on issues that are not only relevant to our current social and political climate, but also universal in their significance. It is rare to find a movie that not only entertains, but also educates and inspires its audience to take action and make a positive difference in the world.
If more filmmakers followed the example set by this movie, we would undoubtedly see a positive shift in the types of stories that are told and the messages that are conveyed through cinema. I highly recommend this movie to anyone who is looking for a truly impactful and meaningful cinematic experience.
The Batman (2022)
Ok...But Did Not Live Up To The Hype
Toooo long. Not a bad movie but could have been edited to cut out a lot of unessessary material. Movie should have ended after they caught the Riddler. Didn't think it would ever end.
The Book of Boba Fett (2021)
Some people got together to cosplay Star wars and somebody filmed it.
I've watched three episodes now and I am so disappointed. How does this even pass Disney's gatekeepers? Have they really just given up? I've seen old episodes of the A-Team that were much more thrilling and better acte.d. Yo, this mess is terrible.. please stop making these until you can get some more qualified people to direct and act.

Couldn't Get Passed The Terrible Acting
Beautiful scenery. Story not bad. But the acting...it's bad. Real bad. Tim and Faith should stick to singing. The best actors were the horses. The high number of good reviews seem fishy.
Titans (2018)
Season 1 and 2 Pretty Good. Season 3 Took It Downhill Fast
This was a good show for a while. Then season 3 came along and the writing took a nosedive. Are these even the same characters? SO LAME now. Actors that were pretty decent now look foolish. What happened?
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021)
Fire the writers. Nevermind it's too late, they've ruined it
Just meh. Action scenes are good. Writing... Not so good.

Believe The Bad Reviews
If you see all the bad reviews on here and think to yourself... Awe come on... it can't be that bad. Well... Go ahead and see for yourself. This movie was terrible and it almost ruined a great Christmas day with my family. I say almost because we did have some fudge left over and we sat around and unanimously voted a one out of 10 for this movie. It helped to remember that we are a family and life will go on. I heard that Patty Jenkins could be directing a future Star wars movie... please don't let that happen... please
6 Underground (2019)
Oh my gosh! What a bunch of fuddy-duddies!
If you don't like this movie then you just don't like action movies. Go watch something on PBS. Pure entertainment!!
Sing Street (2016)
Awesome
I'm 48 and love music. I love this movie! Took me back to the perfect 80's.

Was a Letdown
This is a decent action movie, but don't expect much more. Just so so.
