Overlooked

Gandolfini nails the villain. Arguably his best role. An aging Redford demonstrates why he's...Well...Robert Redford. Support from pre-Hulk Ruffalo demonstrates why Marvel chose him to give life to Banner's role in the most successful series in cinematic history. This movie hits hard in 2021's climate. A reminder that America's will can overcome a corrupt criminal 'leader' like it did when an ethically and morally bankrupt anti-American clown didn't get enough votes to perpetuate his self serving autocratic rule. Great cast, great pacing, great story, great execution. Ahead of it's time.

The Conners (2018–2025)

Interesting episode, but future is bleak. Not sure I'll be coming back for more.

I'm a casual fan of Rosanne. I respect the original series and her. It could be hit or miss to me. But relevant, groundbreaking and important in it's day. It was nice to have a bit of that back last season. I looked forward to more Rosanne. Then the controversy hit, and we found out Rosie is out, and Conners will go on without her. I watched the show to see how it would play out. How they would write her out. It was interesting. Not great. Sad, and upsetting, but worth watching if you're a Rosanne fan. You have to find out what happened. Yet you can tell the show is going to bomb from here on out. The events in the episode took from seeds planted in the previous season. Seeds that were obviously and conveniently re purposed. The show was sprinkled with a few hot topic issues. An attempt to prove the show will try to push boundaries and involve contemporary debatable topics. It all just falls kind of flat most of the time. A bit forced. As much as I like supporting cast is great, Rosanne carried the show. it was hollow without her, even when they discuss her the vast majority of the time. The rest of the family just isn't as interesting on their own. I'll watch episode two to give it the benefit of doubt, but I highly doubt I can get over not having Rosanne on Rosanne.

I guess I can only hope this fails, and another network picks Rosanne back up, and they can put the pieces back together. RIP Rosie.
