Babylon (2022)
Emotional and provocative.
Babylon is an good movie with fantastic cinematography, gripping action, and great acting, but the element that brought me out of the swirling daze of this film was it's brazen use of scenes and music from "Singing in the Rain" in a jeering rather than reverent manner. The movie is filled with various elements that, to me, were not nearly as tedious as some suggest but rather indicative of humanity which always flirts with self destruction in the wake of incredible accomplishment. The movie is great but lost my full vote when they made a mockery of a real classic in their attempt to succeed and validate this new movie.
The Voyeurs (2021)
Unbelievably Good
A gripping tale which takes the viewer on a brilliant journey of innocence, playfulness, lustful passion, intrigue, and shocking horror. Cannot recommend enough.
365 dni (2020)
Very steamy
For a steamy movie, this was superb. Few erotic movies are watchable let alone have an engaging story line and realistic acting but I consider this one to be the best I've seen in a long time. The music is great and no part of this film seems awkward or bland. 50 shades might be the bench mark for a lot of people but I did not find it entertaining at all.
The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)
A fantastic story
This movie is incredible because it is based on a true story. Whether or not the actions of Jordan Belfort were ethically correct should not detract from the veracity by which he lived his life. All the people who are damning Jordan's actions wouldn't have the balls to live a fraction of the life he lived. This movie is a story of the true American dream which is one without bounds.
Fifty Shades of Grey (2015)
Mental Whiplash
There are mere whispers of cinematic mastery sprinkled in a tedious, uninteresting and completely awkward film. It a total insult to passionate relationships. Grey is hardly believable as a Dom or as an expert on the sensual. The only good thing about this movie is the collection of Audis.
Rogue (2020)
Idea is cool, resulting film is not
Well the movie started out as a really cool idea but the characters were pretty horrible at convincing anyone that they were hardened combat vets. The leader of the team (Megan Fox) being former MARSOC is just plain awful. She's more like MARSUCK. The team seems pretty high speed until their hideous lack of talent and skill makes most of them wake up dead.
Ma Rainey's Black Bottom (2020)
Quite unremarkable
Good music but most of the movie involves arguing.
Undercover Grandpa (2017)
Not very entertaining
Although it begins quite well, this movie is hard to get excited about. All the "ex special forces" members aren't even the slightest bit believable and aside from pep rallies and "unit chants" they do not function like the badass team they were in the past. Their knowledge of weapons is hideous and they cannot even pretend to shoot guns. All in all it was hard to watch even from a basic entertainment standpoint because it was so painfully terrible.
Movie 43 (2013)
Terrible
While some movies can get away with being vulgar, this film is an absolutely scatterbrained collection of stupidity and coarse ideas like cold leftovers from all the major holidays mashed into a soup pot and served with a side of LSD.
Triple Frontier (2019)
Brilliant concept Terrible execution
The "elite Special Forces" soldiers were bumbling idiots who could have been stopped by the Boy Scouts or the Civil Air Patrol. And who overloads a cargo helicopter and has tactical arguments with a team they have been working with for years? Aside from being exasperating for anyone with half a brain, the movie had a very very plausible and Captivating story that would have been epic had not it been so poorly executed.
