Game of Thrones (2011)
Loved it
And I liked the last season, including the ending. Schocking! I know!
The Kahleesie burning down the capital and turning in to a murderous despot in the name of freeing the people, is the perfect conclusion to a story that depicts this glorious movement of freeing the slaves and returning the rightfull ruler to the throne, that implodes in to going mad with power, hate and vengefulness. I mean the guilty just have to be punished for their crimes and for their reluctance to follow the right queen.
It's a great depiction of every totalitarian regime that blighted the 20th century. It's as Thyrion describes it in his cell in the final episode. He believed in her and that what she was doing was good, untill it became apparent that she was mesmerized by her own righteusness to believe that whatever she did was good, despite any objective proof that says otherwise. And John Snows betrayal of his beloved queen showed how difficult it is to stand up for what is right and admit that one has been wrong and mislead by a crazy movement; including how costly it is to leave that movement to people that do. Such people often loose everything but their freedome.
So the whole story is an extravagant reminder to not follow an ideology blindly, just because it promises freedome and justice at the start. You have to keep a level head and still weigh circumstances as they arrive and always be ready to reevaluate your treasured stance.
Mom and Dad Save the World (1992)
I actually watched the whole movie
Despite the fact that I haven't been able to watch a whole movie i months and the fact that I've never tried pot nor mushrooms, I kind of liked it.
Holmes & Watson (2018)
A triumph of low expectations!
I saw this movie with pretty low expectations, but I found it to surpass them. It's a very silly comedy that does not take anything seriously which might have confused lesser folk. You see I am a dentist with an IQ 0f 142 and I am highly cultured, I listen to classical music AND metal, so I simply can't be wrong! ;)
Onihei (2017)
Understated action with a touch of the sublime
A story about life, honor and righteousness and a wonderful glimpse of the Edo period. In general a few shades short of perfection, but well worth a watch,
