Hook (1991)
A bit underrated
22 November 2021
This was a gooood film and Spielberg was a genius. I don't understand why a lot of people hated it. It dealt with the loss of childhood innocence and the dread of adulthood by embodying these themes in the character of an adult Peter Pan.

A perfect war film
22 November 2021
If Spielberg mastered his filmmaking craft in Schindler's List, then he perfected it in Saving Private Ryan. A classic modern war film that redefined the genre. A perfect film in all sense.

Eternals (2021)
The freshest take on MCU so far
22 November 2021
It's not as bad as the critics make it to be. Actually Eternals is probably the most unique and freshest installment in the MCU yet, with the whole film feels like a Zack Snyder film instead of another MCU film.

I respect and like the fact that the story, the tone, characterisation, and underlying moral and philosophy questions are different than what we used to get from a MCU movie. Plus, this being a film from Chloe Zhao, the cinematography and the visual effects were fresh and outstanding.

With that being said, the fact that it's being the most challenging and ambitious MCU film is also the reason for it's flaws. The pacings were off at times and the story got messy on the second and third parts. And to be honest, I think the Eternals line up is just too many. It will be better if they only focus on 5/6 Eternals instead of 10.

Still, I respect the different route that it takes and the fact that at least it makes me feel that there could be new things to anticipate from a MCU film in the future.

Banglasia (2015)
Meh
3 September 2021
Well.. it's just that, I guess? I give credit to the film and Namewee for being so brave and I would consider this is the first local film that went all out for political satire - jokes about Najib, Rosmah, GE13 jokes, IC to immigrants jokes, Lynas etc. This film also had Namewee handprints all over it, and this film also was set in a fictional Malaysia, as Malaysia is being invaded by the Luk Luk army, and Atikah Suhaimie is running around in skimpy nurse outfit, which definitely is not what Malaysian nurses wear. But I'm not complaining.

Banglasia was interesting as it was set in a fictional Malaysia and packed with political satire with a Bangladeshi worker as the protagonist, so we see the struggles and what the immigrants went through everyday, so that's interesting. But that's all Banglasia had to offer. It doesn't go any deeper than that, and yeah, I understand that it's a comedy movie, but even for comedy, the jokes were just meh and sometimes out of place. It felt like there were moments of running gags for Namewee and it shouldn't be because this was a film and not one of his videos.

Still, Banglasia was a brave film and the 2.0 version was updated with added scenes related to what happened post GE14. I hope Namewee would continue his brave pursuits, and for more filmmakers like him to come out.

Worst X-Men movie
13 June 2019
I can't believe I would say this, but X-Men: The Last Stand or X-Men 3 was better than DP. At least it tried to tell a story, just that it failed. And I also think X-Men Origins: Wolverine was better than DP. There were a lot of fun and cool moments in Origins, just that the final arc sucks. DP didn't felt like trying to set & tell a story, just basically a 2 hrs visual from one scene to another. Silly characterisation, silly dialogues, stupid forced feminism moments, fucking cracked villain, & cheap CGI.

The only good things out of this was Michael Fassbender as Eric & the score. Whenever he's in, u can see dude's giving his best to save the movie. As for the score, it was great bcs it's bloody HANS ZIMMER lmao. Hans, what are u even doing wasting ur talent on this movie??

Wtv, it's sad to see Fox's X-Men that's been going for 20 years to end this way. This franchise should've had an Endgame-level final movie but then again they didn't even plan their whole franchise beforehand so yeah.

4/10 easily the worst X-Men film.
