Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
An epic blockbuster that lives up to the hype!
Avengers: Infinity War (2018) is an epic blockbuster that scratches that superhero itch you've felt since its trailer. With a cast as big as Thanos and action that blows you back into your seat, it's hard not to re-queue when the film is over.
Unlike the destruction caused by Loki in the first film and Ultron in the second, with this film, Thanos brings a whole new definition of threat. The heroes' greatest battle begins here and the special effects, acting, emotion and intertwining story arcs make for an exiting Marvel experience.
The humour element was well balanced, unlike the changing trend with some of the latest Marvel instalments, and the chemistry between characters seemed authentic. I do admit, however, that some scenes seemed disjointed and proved to block the flow of the narrative - a minor nit-picking issue. The pacing of the film flowed well and at no point, in the 2.5 hours, did I feel bored.
Infinity War is a high-octane, action-fueled, amazing instalment that succeeds in living up to its insane fan hype.
The Internet is a harsh wasteland, and spoilers are out there, tread carefully!!

A Cure for Wellness (2016)
A gripping melancholic tale
A Cure For Wellness (2016) is a somewhat familiar melancholic tale with scenes of intense emotion and a story as gripping as it gets. The acting by Dane Dehaan (previously known for The Amazing Spider-man and Chronicle) as Lockhart is definitely an indicator of his great acting potential in the genre and would love to see him perform more in future thrillers. Along with co-stars Jason Isaacs and Mia Goth the casting choice was great for delivering the style of film in a bleak, eerie, creep you out of your skin style.
The accompanying eerie music with beautiful cinematic shots of Germany drew me into the film and the 2.5-hour running time flew by, like those cheesy time flying montages in movies where the hand rapidly spins and the seasons change outside as I was glued to the screen. I do admit that coming out of the back end of the film I did feel drained and needed some fresh air, but hey credit to Gore Verbinski for sending me on a thrilling roller-coaster ride.
The film successfully provided a spine-tingling atmosphere, although, a downside is again its lengthy duration of 2.5 hours, which could have easily been shortened allowing it to be less slow in parts. It's not a masterpiece, to say the least, but it is definitely a great addition to the genre and I would definitely like to see more thriller/horror directed by Gore Verbinski in future films as his artistic vision is what makes his films what they are.
So go check out A Cure For Wellness (2016) you won't be disappointed!

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)
As good as the first?
When you hear the words 'as good as the first' it is often met with skeptical ears, however, I think your friends will be pushing for you to go with them again to see Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 as it is definitely as entertaining as the first, if not better (shh don't tell). With the intense action scenes, met with the classic one liners, tied in with the classic soundtrack your dad would dance awkwardly too, this film is definitely one for your friends and family to rave about. The acting was in parts a bit over the top and a little try-hard-like with the humor and some characters had grown a somewhat over the top personality since Vol. 1, but the hilarious lead acting of Chris Pratt as Peter and the bad*SS support of Zoe Saldana as Gamora made you not care about previously stated issues. Marvel continues to pump out the action-packed blockbusters that kill at the box office and Guardians vol. 2 will definitely follow those steps. Compliments to director James Gunn! Be right back queuing again.....

Patriots Day (2016)
Emotional film of unity And courage through the people of Boston.
The Film "Patriots Day (2016)" is a tragic but true story that creates a seamless flow of real time and Re-enacted footage of the terrorist attack on Boston, which occurred on the 14th of April, 2013.
The Acting was A-class (as expected) with the big names that came with it (Wahlberg, Goodman, Bacon, Monaghan and so on). The character relationships integrated well, you can feel the somewhat strained bonds between them and that adds to the emotions of the film experience. The action scenes were brilliantly executed with a "natural and realistic" feel too them which gave the films intensity.
As someone who isn't from Boston nor the U.S, watching this film gave great clarity and depth to the events that occurred. This effect gives total props to the Director Peter Berg (Lone Survivor) and his co-writer Matt Cook (Triple 9)
The final 10 minutes made the film all the more better and filled with emotional that tied the film in a special way (I'll let you see for your self!).
However.... My initial thoughts were to question the necessity of the film. The events occurred not even 4 years ago, was it too soon? Was it completely necessary to convert to film? However since watching, this thought has yet to bother me again.
Overall.. The resilience, strengths and unity among man/women was shown throughout this film, even in a time of crisis. This shows, that even when times are tough we can still band together as a society to help our fellow man and counter the destruction of terrorism.
Great Film: 8/10
