Cthulhu (2007)

Unspeakable failure
24 October 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I did not have very high hopes about this movie. That was good. When I first saw the trailer I thought "Oh, for a private production by a bunch of college guys this isn't half bad" and then I found out that this was not the case. It was an actual production, a "real" movie. Oh hell.

The worst thing about this movie wasn't the sometimes really bad acting, not the tendency to always follow the rule "when not knowing what to do with the story, throw in a weird montage" or even the lack of an actual plot line. The worst thing was that in some scenes it got your hopes up. It was like "Oh, oh, here they can save it! They can make it all better! Just let them make this into... no. Not this time either." It was a never ending anti-climax.

And yes, the ending is yet another case of that sickness. They could have saved it a little there. They could have blackened out the last scene and then showed us just a silhouette way out in the ocean. Something that would make us understand that He is coming. That this really is the end. Instead they just goes "Let's finish this off quickly and disturbingly, come on!" This movie never ever demand any sanity rolls whatsoever, so you RPG fans can just forget to bring your D100 along.

A true role-playing adventure!
26 September 2006
It has caught the feeling of the roleplayinggame totally. People who don't like this movie can't ever have played the game in their youth. It's like actually watching an adventure played by thirteen-year-olds, and its wonderful.

I think people take this movie for something other than it was meant to. I think it was meant to be a fun role-playing-inspired film. Nothing less, nothing more.

I love the fact that everything that happens is classic and that every character is so un-original that it almost hurts.

Someone wrote in their comment something about that the elf and the dwarf had nothing to do in the movie, and they're WRONG! How could you ever try to gather a party to save the world without the dwarf and the elf, I just ask. Everyone knows that they MUST be in the group.

Another person wrote that he can't help but laugh at people who like this movie, and thats so darn sad. Do he laugh to hide his grief over the sad fact that he is so stuffed with criticism that he just can't relax and treat the movie as its meant: with a grain of salt and a big smile, cause hey - epical fantasy humor is FUN! If you don't like the movie, buy the game, roll a D20 and create something better with your friends instead of whining like a baby.

The most splendid comedy-musical ever!
17 November 2005
I must admit I was a bit worried to see another troma-movie, but this time I got pleasantly surprised! Its funny, its crazy, its outstanding and you just can't stop humming the melodies!

The one thing that made my admiration complete was that this movie is a lot more tasteful then other in the genre. I mean, you don't even have to see when they cut up the corpses!

My tip for all you fans of this movie is to check out the homepage about it, there you have all the music and a lot of strange little extra comments about the making, aliens and likewise.

All of you that have any humor! Se this movie! Se it! Love it! Laugh!

No logic, no read thread, nothing!

Warning: Spoilers
I'm always spooked out by horror-movies, but this one didn't make me feel anything. It's a totally illogical story. Why in the world does the creatures just have their hearing? Why can't they feel anything (they don't notice the heat from a torch) or eaven smell anything? How can they find dead bodies to feed on if they don't have a sense of smell? And whats up with that little child and the birthday cake? No, this movie sucked. They took a promising concept and made crap out of it.

If you are a big fan of horror-movies you can see it just to laugh and complain about it with your friends.
