Could be better
25 February 2023
I have watched a couple episodes and am not yet overwhelmed. I liked Joel McHale in "Community" but here his character is too mean and judgmental. The others are typical oddballs ala "Community" or "The Office". One female character is too involved with drugs, another is always complaining about food theft and the office manger seems to be just mean. It also appears that the characters spend most of their time in the office. The show might settle into a good experience but I am not holding my breath. Also, while the series is supposed to tale place in Seattle it seems they never did shoot here (I am on an extra's network) and just work in Vancouver, BC.

An American View

Just watched episode one and it is obvious it is a British show. Not just the accents but the phrases used for what Megan wants from the guy and of course all the bleeped dialog that makes it OK for US broadcast. While I have grown up with video games (original Atari 2600 buyer) I have never gotten involved like the characters and don't identify with them but their interaction is still fun.

Science Fiction Theatre (1955–1957)
Personal connection to series
25 December 2008
I was an avid viewer of the series in the late fifties and sixties when it was being syndicated. While I was born in 1949 I was still a little young to see it during its original run though I may have seen a few episodes with my grandfather who called this type of show "educational". Anyway, the title of this post refers to the fact that during the opening of the later episodes a computer was shown. That computer was a Bendix G15 and I know this because I got to work on one when I started college in 1967. The school I attended, Rose Hulman Institute of Technology, had such a machine in one of the basement labs that could be operated by students. It was vacuum tube based (of course), booted up with paper tape and programmed via an old electric typewriter. The programming was basically a machine code system with the entry of a numerical instruction code and memory location. While I never really did anything constructive with it just the novelty of being "hands on" with a computer was enough, not to mention the connection to the show.
