Hidden Figures (2016)
One of the best movies I've seen in a while
Great story lines, great acting and overall one of the best films I've ever seen.
I hate how I never learned about these extraordinary women in a history class before I saw it and I hope this film does justice.
No criticism from me and hope others enjoy it as well. We need movies like this because they give better roles for women and it tackles the issues of racism and sexism.
Awesome film, highly recommend
Fifty Shades of Grey (2015)
Should of left it as a book
I read the first book because of the hype but it was poorly written and had cheesy dialogue.
Watched it on HBO one day. The movie was cringe-worthy and the dialogue is even more embarrassing said out loud.
The sex scenes aren't shocking and there's no conflicts in the story. Just two people who try to date and know they shouldn't but they try to make it work and it doesn't.
There is no chemistry between the leads. Jamie Dornan looked so miserable and was wooden but Dakota Johnson at least tried.
One positive of the film is Sam Taylor-Wood direction. She took a lot of heat for the film but she did the best she could with the material given.
My biggest problems are the portrayal of Christian and Ana.
Christian is a creep who enjoys having sex and beating women who look like his birth mother and kind of just blames it on his childhood. He stalks, tracks Ana's phone, tells Ana what to eat and controls her. Christian's child molester, "Mrs. Robinson" doesn't face any consequences.
Ana thinks she can change Christian and at the end of the film, gets mad at him and then leaves even though she knows what he wants and what he's going to do.
Romance doesn't cure an abusive relationship and I hate how it's portrayed as a fairy-tale.
Kind of feels the author of the book hates women and doesn't know a thing about men.
Game of Thrones (2011)
One of the best shows ever
Great acting, great characters, great story lines and the locations where they film are beautiful.
It's a shame that some of the actors don't get recognized for their roles on the show.
My advice: don't get attached to any characters. It can be heartbreaking
Jurassic Park (1993)
Still convinced the dinosaurs are real
Feels like the dinosaurs are locked up somewhere or are either hiding because they look so real in the film. The CGI is incredible and looks realistic.
A fan of the book and the movie was and is to this day still breathtaking.
Ellie Sattler is still one of my favorite characters to this day
Fifty Shades Darker (2017)
Manages to be worse than the first one
The movie is almost the exact same as the first one.
Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson have no chemistry. Feels like they didn't even attempt to try and do better than the first one.
There are about four or five plot holes that had potential but if written well, they would have made it work on screen.
Cheesy, terrible and cringe-worthy dialogue.
The sex scenes are not sexy, and what makes them even less sexy is the music during the scenes.
The MAJOR problem I had with the film is how Anastasia is written. This is yet another weak female character on screen who likes to be bossed around and controlled by Jamie Dornan's character, Christian.
If you are fans of the book, I think you might enjoy it but they should have just left them as books. The dialogue and characters are written badly on paper but the author manages to make it work somehow.
