Grease (1978)
Great Film
10 May 2017
I personally love this movie, however I have been told that you have to be a big fan of musicals to enjoy it. The music is catchy, the dancing is impressive, and the story line is great.

Sandy and Danny meet in California over summer break and fall in love. Little did they know that they would be attending the same high school when going back to school. Both were surprised and excited to see each other, however they were influenced by there friends at school. It is a question throughout the whole film whether or not Danny and Sandy will be able to regain their love.

Awesome Film!
10 May 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I remember seeing The Wizard of Oz as a child and still to this day I enjoy it. During a tornado Dorothy and Toto find themselves far from home in a magical land called munchkin land. Here, they are greeted by munchkins, witches, talking animals and other magical creatures. Dorothy meets a few characters that end up helping her find her way home, while she helps them as well.

This magical film is sure to put a smile on ones face. I was impressed by the editing used in the film, the lighting that set the mood, and the amazing technicolor. Definitely a recommended movie. All ages will enjoy it.

Robin Hood
9 May 2017
Although not accurate in history, this is a great film between the rich and the poor. In King Richard's absence, Prince John leads the Normans to begin oppressing the Saxons. Sir Robin of Locksley has no other option but to turn into an outlaw and begins stealing from the rich to give to the poor. This action/adventure movie, like any other, is also a romance. Throughout the whole film, Robin goes after a women he fell in love with, Marian. This great Technicolor movie is by far the best Robin hood film.

Amazing Film
7 May 2017
The movie takes place in the early 1900's where Bonnie Parker (Faye Dunaway), a waitress, and Clyde Barrow (Warren Beatty), ex-con, meet. They are immediately fascinated with each other and soon after begin robbing banks, which would lead to a spree of violent crime throughout the country. The viewer follows the couple through several of their criminal acts and witnesses them falling in love. This film, of very few, causes the viewer to sympathize with the characters even though they are criminals.

Bonnie and Clyde inspired many film makers to look at cinema differently. It defined New Hollywood where crime and killing could be shown.

This fast paced movie is definitely worth watching.

Very Interesting
2 April 2017
This movie takes place in a hotel in New York City where Marilyn Monroe plays the roll of a babysitter. Nell (Marilyn Monroe) got out of an institution about a month prior. Her parents sent her there due to her pilot husband dying and her trying to harm herself. Now that she was out, she was living with her uncle who she explained reminded her of how her parents treated her. Nell meets Jed, who is also a pilot, while babysitting and invites him into the room. After spending some time with Nell, Jed comes to find out that Nell is mentally unstable.

I was surprised how short this film was, however Marilyn Monroe did a fabulous job acting. Throughout the film it is revealed that you should not judge a book by it's cover.

The Stranger (1946)
Suspenseful
2 April 2017
In my opinion The Stranger starts out slow, but then eventually becomes more intriguing over time.

It takes place after World War II. Throughout the whole movie the characters are in a search to find a former Nazi who is hiding out in a small Connecticut town. This Nazi has completely changed his identity so they are using the only information they have, which is his passion for clocks, to try and find him.

This is definitely a film noir marked by the fatalism that occurs in the movie. Towards the end of the film the suspense continuously builds up, resulting in exciting ending scenes.

Fantasia (1940)
Definitely a Classic
7 March 2017
This is one of my favorite animated films and is definitely a classic. There are very few people that I know that haven't seen this film or at least parts of it.

Fantasia is an amazing way to use many different stories to interpret different works of classical music. I love the color that is used throughout the whole movie in addition to the lights and shapes that are used that almost seem alive. It is incredible how every single movement goes along with the music.

My personal favorite piece in this film has always been the Mickey Mouse section. This may be the only movie that Mickey Mouse plays an almost villain like character. He oversteps his boundaries too many times and it shows that even the "perfect" Mickey Mouse can make mistakes too.

The Women (1939)
Awesome Movie
5 March 2017
The Women is a hilariously funny movie. The cast includes all women who are all fabulous at playing their parts. Although only women play in this movie, it is all about men and the issues that these women have with men.

Norma Shearer stars in this film as Mary Haines. She finds out that her husband is having an affair and is devastated. Although they end up getting a divorce and her husband ends up being unhappily married to a gold digger, Mary fights for Stephen and her true love for him.

This is a fast paced movie which is sure to keep your interest. It is amazing how the camera is used throughout the movie and how fluent the cuts between the scenes are. This is a must see movie.

Great Screwball Comedy
23 February 2017
Warning: Spoilers
The film starts off with Hildy returning to her job at The Morning Post, only to tell her boss, Walter, that she is quitting. The funny part is that her boss just happens to be her ex-husband, which creates an interesting environment throughout the rest of the movie. Hildy originally wants a divorce from Walter because she wants a more homey life where she can settle down and have children. When she returned she also revealed that she was getting married the following day and her fiancé, Bruce, who was an insurance agent was with her. Throughout the movie Walter comes up with ways, by using Hildy's love of being a reporter, to elongate her stay.

This is definitely a fast paced movie with a lot going on all at once. It was interesting to see the screwball comedy that was used throughout the movie. I highly recommend this film. You are guaranteed to laugh.

Dracula (1931)
Intense Horror Film
12 February 2017
This movie is definitely a classic. Dracula travels to London with Reinfield who has been drugged by Dracula himself. Reinfield believes that Dracula is his master and is accused of being crazy and is locked up. Dracula follows a women named Mina around while some individuals question who he really is.

This was a great story line. I appreciated the way the camera was used in certain scenes and how they used the staircase to add to the intensity of scenes. The only issue I had was with the animation that was used (with the bats). This made certain parts seem a lot less realistic. Overall the movie was great and I would recommend seeing it.

City Streets (1931)
City Streets
5 February 2017
A mobster's daughter is in love with a not so wealthy shooting gallery showman. Nan has always tried to convince her boyfriend "the kid" to work with her father in the "beer" business. After assisting her father with hiding the evidence of a murder, Nan is placed in jail for being caught with her father's gun that was used for the murder. After spending time in jail and seeing all of the crime and what it can do to you, Nan has changed her mind about wanting "kid" to work with her father, but she may be too late.

Once it gets going this film definitely keeps you on your feet. The mixture of crime and love is just enough to keep you interested. This movie shows how power can both change you and brainwash you.

Wings (1927)
Wings (1927)
31 January 2017
Wings (1927) is an excellent movie. It starts off in a small town during World War I. Two young men of different social classes are in love with the same girl. David and Jack are both in love with Sylvia. Sylvia loves David, however feels bad and does not want to tell Jack the truth. Mary, Jacks neighbor, loves Jack, but he only sees her as a friend. Both men head off to war to become fighter pilots. They start off as enemies due to their common interests in a particular woman, however they find it hard to stay rivals. Eventually they become close friends and work together as fighter pilots. Although this is a silent film the turn in events throughout the movie keep you on your feet. I would highly recommend this film.
