Nobody (2021)
Absolutely brilliant, trust me...
An amazing film. I almost gave up during the first 10 minutes as I don't like "out there" films. This did just enough to keep me watching, and boy am I glad I did.
It looks as though it's going to be a comedy, but it isn't. It's hard to say what genre it is, but I loved it. It's just really well balanced. It's a film that I wished wouldn't end. Even after watching I could have watched for another 1.5hrs.
So yes, please watch this, and I bet you'll recommend it to others. It isn't a super serious film (which is what I like most) but it still did it for me. I hate silly films, and I hate 007 for example, and although this had elements of both (do not let this deter you), it was just fantastic. Bear in mind that this is coming from someone who hates those sort of films.
Thanks for reading, and thank me later!
Good Joe Bell (2020)
Watch this, trust me, it had me hooked...
Absolutely brilliant.
Walbergs best ever performance, we need more of this from him. Truly blown away. His son in the film, equally phenomenonal, I'm sure we'll see a lot more from him in the future. Everyone in the film was just fantastic, they must have really connected.
Even some of what seemed to be cliché moments really weren't. It all came together.
This film moved me, let's just say I was glad to be watching this alone (ironic that I feel too proud to show emotion in front of others!...).
So yes, watch this and you won't regret it. Great story. 9.5/10 from me.
Get Out (2017)
Amazing. Brutal. Hard but good watch...
Just brilliant.
Literally don't have a clue why I waited so long to watch this, like I actually don't know, as this is my sort of film. Something must have put me off, maybe the reviews weren't brilliant when I looked initially?!
But yes, brilliant. Direction is a joke it's that good, phenomenal. I was engaged from the first few seconds until the very end.
This isn't a typical Hollywood film - I love gritty films, but even for me this was intense!
Fantastic, so I felt I must leave a review before I go to bed! Enjoy.
M.O.M.: Mothers of Monsters (2020)
Absolutely brilliant
Had to leave this review as the film is fantastic.
Ignore the strange bad reviews, this film is super good. Exactly what you think it will be, and then 5x more. Trust me.
Hate it when people mention plot twists, let's just say that I was surprised at how it all panned out.
So yes, just watch it. Brilliant direction, brilliant acting, brilliant cinematography, it has a lot going for it and it's certainly time well spent!
Homesick (2021)
Bizarre...
Nothing really happens. The acting is average but the phone calls are just not believable - they ruin it tbf.
There is some atmosphere, but in a strange way. The atmosphere is the only reason I watched to the end though.
So if you want things to happen then don't watch this, but if you want a bit of English atmosphere then this might satisfy you.
The main actor is OK to be fair, just the direction and phone calls are awful.
American Mary (2012)
Brilliant film!!
Really decent film. Nothing annoying about it.
I thought it may be over the top due to the trailer with Betty boop lookalike, but it's not.
Really well made. One of tune easiest and best films I've seen in a few months actually.
It is gritty too, which was refreshing.
Great work
Locke (2013)
Soooo boring
After watching this film, I haven't got the energy to write a long review.
It's legitimately terrible. I don't know how it is a film. It does engage you, but then you realise you are just watching a busy construction worker, arranging his plans for tomorrow in work.
I'm soooo confused. Assumed there would be a plot, or an ending lol...
Body Cam (2020)
Horrific
Probably the most boring film I have ever seen, and I've watched a LOT. The type of boring they makes you angry. The boring they makes you tell your self off for checking Facebook on your phone whilst watching a film, but in this instance, checking my phone was required.
It felt 5hrs long. Honestly, I checked time time after 1hr had passed, and we were on 11 minutes. Like I don't know how that is possible, but legitimately, that is the honest truth.
About 40 mins in it gets a bit better, but leads to nothing really. But I did think oh wow, here we go. And then just back to boring.
And yes, way too dark. Give me some light to breathe, even 5 mins per hour is fine. Not an entire dark film.
So yes, trust me, avoid x
Hotel Coolgardie (2016)
Omg literally horrific...
So so soooo bad. I've never ever seen a film like this, and hence felt I must leave a review.
Not one thing happens. And I literally mean nothing at all happens. As in, nothing happens. At all...
Horrible film. Cannot believe it was produced. 2 pretty offensive and annoying girls work at a pub. This review contains no spoilers because there are no moments to spoil.
If you dare watch this film, don't blame me when you hear I told you so.
This is my actual worst film of all time.
Feel sick thinking about it, it's that bad...
Last Ride (2009)
Just under average
Not good. The main actor is too repulsive. Just not nice to watch. Sometimes you feel for the actor, but in this film I didn't.
The child actor is brilliant. Just the film is average. Felt like a big waste of time.
So yh, I wouldn't bother
Cell (2016)
Brilliant. Absolutely ignore the 1 star reviews...
Really decent. Exactly what you are looking for if you fancy this sort of film.
I avoided for about 2 years because of the negative reviews. I would see it, click past it, and think why didn't I watch this. Then check imdb and think ahhh I remember, awful reviews!
They are sooo wrong. It's really gd. If you like world war z, you will like this. That is a better film, but if you want to watch a film that scratches said itch, whilst being something fresh, this is it.
Actual rating would be 6.7. But on this genre you could only ever achieve about an 8.5. So based on that logic, a real feel rating of 7.9 relative to genre.
Defo defo defo watch it. Tis gd
The Boat (2018)
Sooo bad
Horrific. Really annoyed I wasted a hour on this before I had to turn off
Brawl in Cell Block 99 (2017)
Not very gd at all
Very boring
Exactly as I thought it would be.
Very annoyed I payed for this.
Dark. Very very boring. Bit very gritty, just dark and unrealistic.
Quite angry I wasted an evening
Uncut Gems (2019)
Absolute masterpiece!
Some of Adam Sandler's older films are very gd. Big daddy, waterboy, happy gimmore etc... They are amazing but I wouldn't want to watch them now that I'm an adult (31yrs old). This has been true with his more recent films, just not a fan as too slapstick and in your face. This almost deterred me from watching uncut gems. Thank god it didn't...
I had a good idea what this film would be like. Some dark comedy, a bit trippy, maybe an overload. Well I was right to an extent, but in every area it really did over deliver. It's INSANE!
First 40 mins I thought, yep as expected. A bit hard to follow as it's mental. Next 40 I was thinking ah OK, this is very engaging. Then for the remainder I was just hooked and blown away. Just brilliant. Adam is an absolute genius and this proves he is a real artist.
Sooo impressed, just fighting the itch to watch it again. At the final credits I literally sat their staring at the screen just thinking wow that was intense. Very very rare for me. Just fantastic. I'll watch again within a few days.
It will be too much for some, but if you really know films, this will hit you. Enjoy the ride...
