One Day (2024)
Just amazing!
I've just watched this is took me 4 sittings, not what I was expecting at all I thought it might be a bit width washy but absolutely loved it! I like the fact the main actress wasn't conventionally beautiful it just added to the fact that he loved her for her. At the start I thought he was just a posh boy looking for a quickie and she was stringing him along but as the show developed he really had true feelings for her then I thought she was just being mean to him all the time! I love how they always met up on that day you don't do that with just anyone there was always something special there and how they reflected back on things that happened that wasnt always in the show. When they eventually got together I had a feeling it was going to end bad as they had wasted so many years messing around. The last 2 episodes broke me they were so incredibly moving and I just felt so sorry for Dex he was so lost without her. Even when Ian turned up it made me cry! Beautiful show.
Wonka (2023)
Great feel good movie
We went to see this last night and we all loved it even my husband who wouldn't usually go for this kind of thing! Great British cast even my 10 year old daughter recognised lots of them and there were a lot of very funny moments. The music wasn't too much either, when I first started I thought it was going to be quite full on but all the music was great we all left singing the last song!
It was much better than the weird Jonny Depp one that came out years ago. It told a story very well and the ending really made it feel like it was the beginning of the original story it all tied in really well.
Sweet Magnolias (2020)
Giving up in season 2
I really enjoyed season 1 the stories about the main characters were well told I liked how they all developed then intertwined with their kids etc and the ending to the first season was pretty good. I've not long started season 2 and I'm bored already I think I'll just give up. I'm disappointed as it had some potential but the storylines are already really uninteresting and too many outsiders coming in and the constant music in the background is quite distracting (I'm in the UK so I know it's an American thing but it's getting too much) it's all a bit wishy washy and fake I'm going for something a bit more gritty.
Mayflies (2022)
Amazing and very moving story
A wonderfully written story about true friendship between 2 Ayrshire lads. The acting was superb you could really feel the relationships and emotions between the characters. Brilliant throwbacks to the 80s which really brought out the story between the 2 main characters. I love Ashley Jensen and she didn't disappoint in this, her character was so well played. Martin Compston was great in it aswell it showed his softer side. It makes you realise that life is too short and none of us know what's round the corner and we should appreciate every minute like this great cast did. Best to watch in one go.
The Five (2016)
Loved this even if dragged out a bit
I have just finished watching this with tears in my eyes! Wasn't expecting the ending at all I had no clue who Jesse was going to be it kept me guessing til the last episode and I think it was very well done. Really felt for Karl and his dad in the end. It dragged out a bit in the middle with Slades story but other than that it was a great show with a great twist and lovely ending.
Four Lives (2022)
Very emotional and realistic
I don't remember this story when it happened but I found this series incredibly realistic and the 2 main characters Sheridan Smith and Stephen Merchant were amazing. Other reviews slating this are not right IMO this series was about a mother desperate for the truth and an evil killer and the sheer incompetencies of the local police force. Yes there was far more too it but as a short series I thought this was spot on.
Instant Family (2018)
Way better than I expected!!
I put this on thinking it might be nice movie to watch on a boring Saturday night.... Wow!! I laughed out loud a lot but did just as much crying, it was so much better than I was expecting and so incredibly emotional. My husband works in a residential care home for children so I know a bit of how the system works. Absolutely loved it I'm so glad I didn't flick past it while scrolling through the movies!!
Sex/Life (2021)
Don't listen to bad reviews!!
I am shocked at some of the reviews on here! I don't usually like stuff based around sex but this was gripping! As a 40 something happily married wife and mother I absolutely loved it. Took me back to my younger days of carefree living and having fun. We all have demons and the people who are offended by this or say its rubbish have lived a sheltered life. It's easy watching, beautiful people having sex and relationship issues but it's also a bit of light entertainment with no underlying "it's ok to cheat on your husband" nonsense or "violence against women" switch your brain off and enjoy.
