Unique downfall
7 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Quality film, unique and crafted in art, but the ending was up there with the worst. Shallow, very shallow. No sense of home, characters left in the dark, and a random scene to end it. The music is good, the videography was good. The transitions were good, the acting was average. I thought there were pockets in the film that were confusing because of the acting.

The best scene was about mid way through with the boat tipping. The sounds and the extended cuts were incredible. The ending made zero sense. They made it to a random spot and then the movie stopped. As if the budget got hit with a hard stop. Okay I'm at my limit.

Failed uniqueness
4 April 2022
They attempted to edit the film in a such a unique manner in which they failed. The constant explosions led me to believe this was a Michael Bay film and I was right. This is a below average action film at best. The perfect 'Netflix and chill' movie if you will.

Quaid well done.

Quaid's acting job was incredible. The others, not so much. The story was shallow, but the concept was fantastic.

Interesting film, poor closing
14 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
From the beginning the film had me questioning what would happen next. There were plenty of actions I would've liked to see play out, but it seems like the writer just decided to close the book too early. They portrayed the different parts of the project and their roles pretty well. However, what kept this film from being great was the failure to show us the purpose behind the entire drive and desire to start this project in the first place. They didn't show what the end of the project had looked like, what the investors felt, how Eva Torres and her company ended up, and most of all how the two main characters continued with life.

Because I like the cast...
11 June 2019
If I didn't respect the cast, this movie would be a 1. If you're into pure stupidity with no humor, drugs, and sex, this movie is it. It makes 0 sense.

If this weren't the last...
28 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Then it wouldn't be rated as high. 3 hours was stretched, there was too many "motivational quote" moments and they forced a lot of the jokes. Other than that, the acting was good from the main cast and the point when they encounter one another was fantastically done.

Great start, poor middle
19 April 2019
The film had a fantastic start with plenty of action. Throughout the film it felt like the same story that had me itching for more depth. However, it was a unique concept and I applaud the creator for that.

Dark and boring.
1 April 2019
The film had a good story behind it, but failed to execute on the main cinematics. The entire film was so dark it was straining to the eyes. More than 60% of the screen at all times was black. It appeared to be a low budget film as they had the crew confined to one space nearly the entire film with hardly any true interrogations of a suspect. A 4 is generous because of what the film could have been.

Diggs, well done.
16 February 2019
This film is unique in its own way. Blends of horror, comedy, drama, and truth create what could've been an amazing film. The political stance is a bit much, but the acting of Daveed Diggs was fantastic.

This film created a scenario that degraded white people, but it also showed the truth of what African Americans face.

Cons: stereotypical and political Pros: some truth behind the film

Felt Empty
17 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The original Incredibles had such a deep storyline to the characters and I felt like Incredibles 2 was missing that. I couldn't connect to any new characters. There was no surprise in the bad guys because there were really no other candidates.

No. Just no.
22 April 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Every other second is a sexual scene and it's a bit ridiculous. Without the child at the end and a seemingly normal family, this movie would've gotten a 1. Not only is the lack of feelings between characters strongly noticeable, but the entire movie is based around emotionless, careless sex. This movie goes against all typical fundamental human values and morals. From cheating to beating, it's hard to watch and figuratively damages the soul.

P.S. I strongly recommend this as a Do Not Watch.

Great build up, to nothing.
20 April 2018
The movie kept me in constant questioning about who the killer was. However, the end left me confused and felt rushed and blended in a way that couldn't be followed. It was an interesting concept, poorly executed. There were too many flashbacks and too much future and present footage that was blended in a way that was hard to be followed. There was a lot of questions unanswered.

This film isn't amazing, but it isn't terrible. It's just an average movie.

Funny, but political
15 April 2018
The film began funny, with a variety of uniquely relatable characters. The scenes had bits and pieces of comedy. However, once again, this film escaped the dry humor and went straight to throwing political messages in the dialogue. The film had plenty of "chuckle" jokes, but no die laughing jokes.

If you're going to watch this film to try to escape conversations about the topics of feminism or sexual preference, then turn off the tv or leave the theater.

Don't Waste Your Time
13 April 2018
Warning: Spoilers
If you like movies where characters make cringeworthy irrational decisions, this is the one for you. From not leaving the camp when they should to hiding in a tube instead of running, this movie has it all. I do give props to the killers though, they seemingly knew where everyone was at all times and even where they were going to be.

This review is a warning to all, just skip the film or waste your time.

P.s. The first Strangers was much better than this.

Good Story, Poor Directing.
13 April 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This film had extreme potential after watching the trailer, but failed due to unrealistic (very unrealistic) aspects of the film. This is a film that keeps you questioning the characters behaviors, but that's all it does. There is no deep connection with any of the characters simply because the lack of backstory. Also, 80% of the movie is filmed in a house, which makes it extremely frustrating to watch. SPOILERS: First, the good. The characters were played well, the filming and lighting was strong, and there was a good (poorly developed) story.

Really? In broad daylight at an LA Fitness? Next to a guy who is backing out? No.

Really? The guy is terrible at his job, allowing the girl to escape multiple times. Also, the girl gets good hits but never finishes him. These type of kidnapping films make me cringe. The ones where they attack their kidnapper but never knock him down hard enough.

There is hardly any character development and no depth behind the characters lives. The film seems to drag on and on, but finally comes to an end after multiple escape attempts.

Quality Heist Film *No Spoilers*
13 April 2018
First off, how can multiple people give this movie a 10/10 or a 1/10? There are multiple flaws within the movie that keep it from being perfect and there are well thought out action plans and plot twists to keep this film from being the worst movie of all time.

Anyways, this film was a strong film with very well thought out action scenes. In the introduction, the scene was extremely realistic to the point where everyone said "in other action movies with guns, *this* would've happened". Props to the director for making it realistic/believable enough. The one part we didn't like was that some of the scenes had cringing saturation and the story didn't dive deep into each characters life. Heck, we only met the main characters wife for two scenes.

I came with low expectations and left very pleased. This may not be a movie that drops your jaw, but it is worth the watch and has very interesting concepts and scenes.

2 words: Heath Ledger.
29 March 2018
My time is limited for a review, so if you want to see the performance of a lifetime, this movie has it in the Joker. The part is played with so much passion and unnerving realism that it radiates. The sounds, the cinematography, the makeup, the acting, there are very few flaws within this movie. One of the best movies of all time. Worth a watch.
