Shotgun Wedding (2022)
Fun, entertaining, hilarious
What's up with all the low stars-this film is hilarious!! We laughed and laughed, it was a great date night film. Super action packed non stop entertainment. Hilarious male female bantering. Beautiful scenery. Moments that were ridiculous which made it that much funnier. Also, real relationship moments that aren't Hollywood in style, they had a nice thread of authenticity going throughout the crazy parts of the movie. Slap stick in style, too. And oh so funny! Lead actors we're all in, they rocked!! Gave one less star for gratuitous violence. Besides that-lighten up everyone and enjoy a very entertaining flick that'll make you laugh out loud.
Badehotellet (2013)
Pleasant and fun series - it's a vacation at the beach!
I feel like I'm taking a vacation every time I watch this series! Delightful characters, fun romps and a bit of important history woven throughout the years. Every character eventually has their story unfold, and the impact they seemingly so innocently have on one another is part of the charm and pull. I do hope season 9 will come out soon! I miss these personalities and the break they offer. As an American it's easy to read the subtitles and follow the storyline - I don't even notice I'm doing so after a few minutes. The sing song sound of the language is also really lovely. Pre WW2 European Danish culture is depicted in such an interesting way and a joy to watch.
The Time Traveler's Wife (2022)
Disappointing
The movie was so much better. In this new series the script just drones on and the actors seem like they're stumbling over too much verbiage and story plots all intersecting one another. The script's character development is almost non existent for the lead stars, and the lead female role bursts onto the scene without much charm or finesse. It's almost as if she's challenging herself as an actress to define her performance as distinctly different from the actress in the movie. The camera angles are simple, it's as if their lenses are chasing around the actors who are chasing the lines. I kept thinking some of the magical quality of the original movie would surface, but it's disappointing and I'm getting bored.
IMDb on the Scene - Interviews: Fleabag (2019)
HORRIBLE, unless you like...
HORRIBLE, unless you like...an unaware, insecure, desperate female main character; male characters who are mocked and represented as idiots; sex scenes that make humans seem completely desperate, selfish and disgusting; a story line that's depressing. If all of the above was intended by the writers, then you make the world a more awful place with this empty piece of "art". As reviews go, I am generally a positive reviewer. It's depressing that this show was written and that it's won awards. I guess if your life really sucks and your world view is depressing, this might make you feel in good company. When do writers feel the responsibility to actually uplift? When do they begin to see their impact on society? Rather than dredge up all the potentially awful parts of humanity and place it in one show, why not try to improve the world with your writing? How far do you have to go down the dark abyss of humanity's weaknesses, to make a buck? How do you sleep at night?
Charmed (2018)
Enjoying 1st season-focus on relationship dynamics is refreshing in a magic Sci-fi series
Enjoying the 1st season-the focus on relationship dynamics is refreshing in a magic Sci-fi series. Usually there's a lot of gratuitous violence and gore in this genre, so I appreciate the writers approach of bringing life the characters and endearing them to us. Character development is sorely lacking in this genre - an example is a brilliant series like Timeless, which has excellent character development and smart stories - cancelled! I hope they don't take Charmed and destroy it in the 2nd series or cancel it just as it's getting it's legs. Charmed is something you can watch with older family members, but it is still spooky enough to be interesting. Charmed also has some class to it that's missing from many newer shows. The actors are also portraying characters that are natural in their diversity, so that stereotypes are forgotten. Please writers, just keep doing your thing and don't change series 2 so it's unrecognizable!
Il paradiso delle signore (2015)
Beautiful series from a more elegant time; characters to fall in love with!
Beautiful series from a more elegant time; characters to fall in love with! These characters are not only believable, but the script is well written and full of heart. The 1950's sets are creatively accurate and the fashion conveys the elegance of that time. There are poignant moments in each storyline where the values of the characters are touchingly challenged. The amount of old fashion restraint depicted in the characters, coupled with the modern time of the late 50's entering old world Italy, proves to add an indelible creative impact on the script.
The Italian society in the 50's is not only recovering from the war, but the largely catholic upbringing of the characters influences, pulls and tugs on each storyline. The series marks a time before computers, cell phones and the quick news of the world -- so much so that you are just as absorbed in their story lines as were the people of that time line in theirs.
If you love Downton Abbey, Victoria and The Crown, this series will add to your love of the beauty of traveling to another time, culture and place to absorb yourself in the lives of these complex and yet characters. Highly, highly recommend.
I hope that they keep their successful, beautiful and heartwarming style going in season 3. The actors are all brilliant, especially the lead couple of Teresa and Pietro. A real winner!
