The Tourist (2022)
Shame about Danielle Macdonald
Really enjoyed the first season, it was dark and twisty and completely different. Helen's character quite annoyed me at that point but I could see past it - in season 2 however she just steps up a whole new level. I can't tell if it's the fact that Danielle Macdonald is such a bad actress or her character is just so whiny and annoying - or a mixture of both. Her accent is jarring, acting atrocious and character really emits no want for empathy or understanding. I feel like the costume department have really done her dirty and not dressed to her favour AT ALL and I also feel like the writers have done her dirty for writing such a boring, whiny character. Unfortunate as the rest is genuinely very good but whenever this character is on screen I just can't stand it.
Good Omens (2019)
Kids let it down
Absolutely brilliant show, which has been written and directed beautifully. The only thing that lets it down is how god awful the kids acting is. They're robotic and you can tell they're reading from a script as opposed to actually acting. Yes I know they're kids but my god they were so bland and boring, and almost cringey to watch. Hated watching any part with the kids in because it was just like cardboard and so cringe. It made make squirm so much 😂
The rest of the cast is absolutely brilliant and perfectly cast, the script was written very well and excellently bought to life by Tennant & Sheen. Was nice to see Jack Whitehall play a different character than his normal off Standish comedic caricature of a British person.
Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities (2022)
Gets worse the further you get
The first 3 episodes were absolutely fantastic. Had me squirming in my seat and hit the nail on the head with Theatre of Cruelty and the grotesqueness associated. Episode 4 and after is just a downhill tumble unfortunately. Episode 4 lacked any structure and was just flat out weird, taking "grotesqueness" to pure dislike of the character. The poor lead female was put in an unfortunate position where she had to play a flat out boring, as well as annoying character. Episodes 5 through 7 are belong, lack plot and storyline and are just boring. Not even going to bother episode 8 as I turned off episode 7 half way through.
Hollow Man (2000)
Absolutely awful
I will say, the CGI for its tome is absolutely fantastic. However, it is just full of sexual abuse, rape and misogyny. Absolutely awful the treatment of women in this film, and it really begs the question as to the directors & screen writers feelings towards women. Absolutely disgraceful.
It Chapter Two (2019)
Over done and boring
The jump scares were way over done and are way over the top, especially with the body and face transformations. Not remotely scary, laughable to be fair. And I scare quite easily. Got bored about an hour and a half in but thought I'd wing it out as there'd only be half hour or so left. WAS I WRONG. 3 hours???????? It's long, boring, and 3 hours I'll next get back. Actually, 2 and a half cos I turned it off. Too long. Boring. And over done.
Chambers (2019)
Good context and story line, disappointing ending
Really enjoyed it up until about episode 8, but that's only because t was really scary. Episode 8 was excellent, however episode 9 and 10 were major let downs. And unfortunately, when all is revealed, it's a massive cop out. They could have done so much more with what had happened and why, but it was extremely anti climatic.
They could have done a lot more with the intense storyline they created.
