Missing something
19 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I was excited for the show to come out, though I had limited expectations. I've only played New Vegas and Fallout 4 (loved both).

The show to me seems a bit...light hearted. One review called this the Disney version of Fallout and I think that's a perfect comparison. There wasn't much danger when traveling outside. And the people inside seemed like campy people from the 50s. Like a Leave it to Beaver cast.

The show also bounced around far too much and I don't feel that that they handled that all too well. Often I had to ask myself "did I miss something?"

Two last points...there was ZERO explanation as to why Moldaver was still alive. She's a key character. Kinda feels like that should have been touched on. And at the beginning the raiders were radioactive but weren't scanned?

Warning: Spoilers
This was not a bad show by any means, but it certainly wasn't the best either. The acting was decent (depending on the actor). The fight scenes were incredible. Really top notch. The comedy? They really should have worked on that. The writing also was decent but with a few too many plot holes.

The first plot hole is right off the bat. Charles is attacked in his apartment. His father shows up. And his father say "why did they only send three men for you?" Now, I'm not a member of any criminal organization, but my immediate thought was they were drawing out dad to off him. Then bang. Shot through the window. How do people that are supposed to be in a criminal organization not realize this?

Charles...big brother is a bad ass. His fight scenes were incredible. He had a bit of depth to his character but I would've like to see more. The actor did great. Writers let him down a bit.

Bruce...how no one shot him is beyond me. Completely devoid of any depth. He's a hapless coward with a moral superiority complex. Most of the other plot holes involve Bruce. Or rather, why Bruce was involved in a great many conversations or meetings. And that's all there really is to him.

TK was the quintessential bumbling BFF meant for comic relief. They could have utilized him more for the comedy aspect.

The cop girlfriend...has she ever acted before?

I would have really like to see the mother play a darker role. Or maybe the whole movie take on a darker aspect? But she was the essential mother who pulls the strings in the shadows to manipulate those around her. Or she could have been more.of that. Another missed opportunity by the writers.

I would have liked a little deeper understanding of the relationship between the parents. And I certainly would have liked something more involving the Boxers and their backstory.

Again, not a bad movie. Not a great one. If they have a second season I'll watch. I just won't set a reminder to check.

Legally Blonde meets She-Hulk
23 September 2023
I was bored one rainy Saturday afternoon, looking for something to watch and thought I'd give this show a watch. It was perfect to nap to.

First, to bill this as a comedy is a slap in the face of comedy. Quirky? Maybe. Funny? Not so much.

The CGI version of She-Hulk was poorly done.

The show was all over the place. Poorly written. Poorly directed.

Much like Disney has done with Star Wars, they took a half hearted script and threw the Marvel label on it. They're clearly just riding the coattails of the Avengers movies hoping to cash in. And they failed. If they had followed shows like Daredevil, I think they may have had something. But this....its not entirely unwatchable. It's just not very good.

I will say that Tatiana Mulvaney did a good job here. But she clearly had nothing to work with. The producers are clearly out of their element and have no idea what they were doing.

Shoddy at best
7 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I was excited when I found this show. I loved watching Supernatural. But I should have known better.

This is supposed to be a prequel to Supernatural, focusing on Sam and Dean's parents when they first meet. Sadly, they failed on all fronts.

The writing is poor. So much so far doesn't seem to fit with the Supernatural timelines. The casting bad. So bad.. The acting worse. So much worse. The characters are completely unbelievable as hunters. They felt more like the gang from Scooby Doo minus the dog. Then there's the monsters which are shoddy and poorly done CGI.

Also, the show is SUPPOSED to be set in the 70s but they missed the mark on so much there. From clothing to language to...well almost everything.

To summarize, they hired Jensen to make it a Supernatural spinoff, played some music from the 70s, and the effort stopped there.

Disappointing
15 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I was excited when it was announced it was coming out. But after a few episodes I can honestly say I won't lose any sleep if I never watch it again.

Joel was cast well. I have no complaints.

Ellie...Bella Ramsey has the emotional range of a potato. And when she smiles she doesn't appear happy. She looks psychotic.

Bill...they played that out all wrong. The episode added nothing to the story, especially if they were going to kill him at the end of the episode. If they really needed to tell his story they should have played it out like in the game but with minor flash backs. Bit they didn't.

All in all this is a show just like any other zombie show. There's nothing really special about it.

Awful
26 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Five minutes in and I could tell this would be a dumpster fire. I'm already rooting for the bad guys. For such a big company, Disney is an abject failure at producing quality programming.

If you want overacting, Ruby Cruz is your gal. Not quite sure why she was cast. She's dreadfully awful. Everytime she opens her mouth I cringe.

Erin Kellyman is unbelievable as a knight in training. Tony Revolori and Dempsey Bryk are jokes as the princes. Ellie Bamber is no better.

The only believable characters are Boorman (kudos to Amar Chadha-Patel), Sorsha and Willow.

The original movie was such a classic, and there is always a challenge in meeting expectations when producing a sequel. I get that. But Disney has failed miserably here. Walt must be rolling over in his grave at what his company has become.

In the minority it seems
12 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Everywhere I turned people were talking about this show so decided to check it out. And after doing so I don't understand the hype. It had potential, but Tim Burton dropped the ball.

Jenny Ortega does an ok job as Wednesday, but in my opinion she's not the godsend that everyone makes her out to be. Her acting is marginal at best, and the character wasn't portrayed as being dark enough in my book. This is Wednesday Addams we're talking about and she just came across as a moody teenager.

Catherine Zeta Jones absolutely failed as Mortocia. Angelica Huston set the bar on what Morticia should be, and that standard was not met.

Fred Armisten was incredibly annoying as Uncle Fester. He had the look down, but everything after that was an abject failure.

Again, this show had potential but needs to be darker than it is. It's more Sabrina the Teenage Witch than Addams Family in my book.

Not an awful watch but I won't be anxiously awaiting season teo.

Season One was great. Season Two was good. Season three...well I would call it a dumpster fire but that might be interesting to watch. I'm hoping they don't try another season.

Netflix paid for this?

I can't believe anyone thought this would be a good idea. Is it classic Mike Myers? Yes. Is that a good thing? No. Not in the least bit.

The show is dull. Plain and simple.

I had low expectations going in,and those expectations were met.

I felt like RDJ did well with what was given him, but the script and supporting cast were lackluster at best.

Simply dreadful

I understand this is supposed to be a parody of sorts, but it's truly terrible. It's like if Power Rangers and Watchmen had a baby. But they were related. Closely related.

Disappointing
28 February 2022
This show is merely a copycat of Vikings, The Last Kingdom, etc...They took the same storyline, tweaked them a little and put in new characters.

The production quality is good. Cinematography is good. And I liked the actors/characters.

But still walked away disappointed.

The history of the Tuskegee Airmen is an interesting one, but this film didn't do it justice.

The air combat CGI was amazing, but the acting felt forced and the film just...seemed generic otherwise. Kind of like an after school special.

But it falls short of the original. Like many, they relied on cinematography to replace the story. Halfway through and I was ready for the movie to be over.

Moby Dick in space
1 January 2022
The plot was confusing at times.

It was difficult to get attached to any of the characters.

My personal opinion is that with better writing this would have been vastly improved.

The special effects were decent.

The female actresses are easy on the eyes.

Not a great movie. Not an awful one. But entertaining nonethless.

Unremarkabke
25 December 2021
This movie definitely had a Disney feel to it, and I felt myself remembering all of the pre CGI Disney classics from when I was younger.

Sadly, that's about all it had going for it.

An unremarkable and forgettable film that cost more than it was worth.

I have only read the first book, and it's been awhile at that. So I can't compare the book and the show. I will say that trying to bring the book to screen would be a daunting task. One that has clearly failed.

The writing is poor and the acting is not much better. Every episode seems hastily put together. The cinematography I very much enjoyed though. But that's about it.

The only thing this show has accomplished is reigniting my desire to read the comllete series.

30 November 2021
While I like both of the lead actors in this, I felt like they lacked any sort of chemistry whatsoever. The jokes seemed forced. Actually all of the dialog seemed forced.

I get it was meant to be campy. But it really could have been so much more.

I watched the first episode, and that was more than enough.

Poor acting, lackluster writing/story and awful characters.

This is The Walking Dead as an after school special.

I see people commenting about the good acting in this show. Did we watch the same thing?

I didn't read the book, so can't comment on that. And while I like the premise, this is just another teen show filled with horrible acting. I'm very surprised they brought it back for another season.

Maybe the CEO of Netflic should have apologized for THAT instead.

Just awful
26 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
400,000 men on Dunkirk and they only show a few hundred at a time? They failed on an extreme level to show what a massive evacuation this was. Where were all the German planes attacking the beaching? I don't see what all the hype was about. Or where the budget went. This film is a travesty. Nolan should be embarrassed by it.

Picking up a book
8 September 2021
I found this show mildly entertaining at the start, but then it went downhill. The production value and acting was good, but the script seemed to fail fast. I've never read the books, but after reading these reviews I'm going to pick up the first one.

Wound up being Rodriguez brothers.

Mildly entertaining at best, I feel as if the writing and directing really dropped the ball at times. I also think Karen Gillian was miscast as the lead. Totally unbelievable as the bad ass assassin.

This movie had potential, but winds up being that show you nap to on lazy Sunday afternoons.
