Fractured (2019)
I don't understand
I don't comprehend why the father would kill his daughter. There is no explanation why he would kill his family. He lost his wife and unborn child 8 years ago in a car accident so why would he kill his new wife and child now? Because he likes to drink alcohol? This is a bad script. And the shrink explaining that if humans do terrible things they shelter themselves from it with a false reality. Yes, but the evil was done on purpose. There is no need to hide from that. Am I too naive, or why would a father throw a rock at his daughter to hurt or kill her? I know this could happen but it isn't made clear why, in this movie.
Terrible.
Berlin, I Love You (2019)
Berlin is in Germany
I only write this review because of a special propaganda scene. The one where a 16 year old boy kissed an adult, wearing a dress. He just turned 16 that day. Before that they talk about that it's legal for him to drink beer. This is some kind of signal, emitted by the producers of this propaganda movie. He can drink, so he can kiss? Of course people in reality kiss all the time, no matter what age, but this scene here is clearly another attempt of normalizing pedophilia. Get used to it. Like in "Call me by your name". A movie I would give a 10, but because it's a perversion on display, I don't care about that. Berlin is so cool, there is no nature in it, only crowded parks. What else would you do, in this hell, so why not kiss adults, the world is going down anyway.
5 to 7 (2014)
New York City's like a Graveyard...
There is really no depth in the 2 main characters. No flaws are shown to make me connect to them. They are all too perfect. The guy doesn't even need to work. He can choose when he wants to continue writing without financial problems. His inner poetic and prosaic thoughts are boring and not original. I don't understand how he could have become famous in the end. The music is just mediocre noise. Actually this movie is kind of depressing that if a "perfect love" happened to a person in real life, it would be such a shallow, unconnected experience. The woman has no charisma although she has all traits of beauty. She would be a statue in the living room, an idea of life and love without bearing true personality and substance. What I liked best was the dialogue of the writer's parents. This movie is like eating dry bread for one week.
Fikkefuchs (2017)
Enjoy the ride
This is a great, entertaining and funny movie about the obsession to get women laid and about how men and women become alienated because men are confused of how they should act. Should they be very strong or very sensitive? Some women have contradicting demands towards men, so whatever they do is wrong. These demands are shown in the mainstream media and create a false image of how women actually are. The film dispenses with morality although it has a rather happy end. It is made clear that beauty is just a temporary illusion till age sets in. But when you're obsessed with sex all this doesn't matter, you just need it and it makes you a victim to your desires so that you might not even seek true love and have a family. In the end you get old and become a pathetic hunter for sex and die lonely. But the movie shows that it's not black and white like this, that sometimes little sparks of hope occur to cope with this bitterness.
The Good Doctor (2017)
Unsympathetic main character
The agendas in this show (gender, racism) are really too obvious and annoying. And Shaun, the main character is the most unsympathetic character I have ever seen. Of course his autism plays a part in this, when he can barely look people in the eye. When he is crossing personal borders without thinking first he seems like taking advantage of his disadvantage. I will continue to watch this show for the other characters.
Tod den Hippies!! Es lebe der Punk! (2015)
Don't miss this one if you want to see something new
This movie is pure punk. It is fast, wild, transitions seem to be missing. It is exactly what punk to me is: Exaggeration, hedonism, provocation, without any ideology. It doesn't need politics to be against or pro, it just needs the every day boredom and stagnation to break out from. The movie doesn't describe the punk scene in Berlin or Germany. It shows the intention of punk and how it might feel to be punk. It was a big wave back then (I suppose) just carrying every one with it, offering booze, sex, music and of course risks and damage. Sometimes some scenes can be seen as surreal but I think that those are just subjective observations of the main character like when he meets Fassbinder or Nick Cave. Those encounters might be a (blurry) memory of some one who really met those persons back then. The movie is very funny because on every corner something unexpected is happening. So while watching this I was in the suspension of what might happen next, what chaos would be revealed. There are no stereo types about punk or rebellion. May be those were just skipped because the story is not really important. There is nothing to learn from what the actors experience. Just that it's about punk and the present.
