Sadak (1991)
10/10
Great musical romance come action/revenge drama
29 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Sadak by many is referred to as the Bollywood taxi driver but I generally don't see how that comparison or conclusion is made.Sadak is a great Bollywood watch with some great music acting especially the villain Maharani. Mahesh bhatt succeeds in directing a Bollywood masala flick with a few serious themes underlined.

10/10
one of my all time bollywood faves
29 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Vaastav is in my top 10 Hindi film list of all time and in my opinion in the Indian gangster genre only GOW2 and Satya are ahead of this. Vaastav isn't as violent as the previous two mentioned as it is a drama that centres around the Gangsters family life and relationships. Vaastav tells the story of a lower-middle class family whose eldest son has no choice but to accept and embrace the Indian crime world of Mumbai after he and his friends accidentally kill a local gangster's brother. Why do I rate this film so highly is essentially the performance of Sanjay Dutt as Raghu Bhai a character we slowly see transform to a manic and terrifying Gangster whose rage we see slowly burning and building leading to the explosive climax absolutely superb. Mahesh Manjrekar deserves credit as director as do the entire cast not one performance is out of place in this classic. Dutts portrayal of Raghu Bhai is easily the greatest on screen gangster portrayal of Hindi cinema.

Khalnayak (1993)
10/10
Great Hindi Masala flick
29 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Khalnayak belongs to Sanjay Dutt a great over the top character played with great swag and vulnerability as only Dutt can. Dutts portrayal of Much celebrated Bollywood Film maker Subhash Ghai's Khal-Nayak an over the top manic almost comic super villain type of character. He is so much fun to watch that he completely over shadows Madhuri Dixit and Jackie Shroff in roles that are also considered amongst there own career best performances. Now you will either love khalnayak or hate it there will be no middle it is loud larger than life and unapologetic its characters, songs, dance sequences, are all larger than life but at its core it is the retelling of the story of Raavan, ram and Sita from the Hindu holy book Bhagvad Gita if I'm right.

Naam (1986)
10/10
one of he best Hindi films of the 80s
29 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Naam is film that is rarely mentioned among-st critics when discussing great Bollywood Films and it is rarely, if played at all on the dozens of Indian television channels we have access to but all Bollywood buffs know the two popular songs of the film, but Naam deserves to be remembered for a lot more than just the songs. A great script that was apparently written by the great Salim/Javed duo the create-rs of Sholay and Deewaar for those that don't know. The story is that during there split the two had rough drafts of Mr India which Javed Akhtar took and Naam which Salim Khan took and both developed the two scripts further separately. The two films released just a year apart and were both as successful as each other and although Mr India still manages to get showered with love 30 years on Naam is somewhat neglected. If your a late 90's 2000's kid chanced are you haven't watched this gem and id strongly recommend you do ahead of the ton of junk Bollywood tends to throw at us. this is for me Mahesh Bhatts best film and the cast especially Sanjay Dutt and Paresh Rawal in their breakout performances are excellent, Nutan is exceptional, Kumar Gaurav, Amrita Singh and amrita singh are OK as is Poonam dhillon although her breakout at the start of he film is filmy, although the film can seem a little melodramatic at certain times Naam is a film I would put in the top 5 Hindi films of the 80's.
