Not Friends (2023)

Friends are important in our lives
23 March 2024
The film is brilliant and I think the director executed the film in a fresh and touching way. This is not a cliche story and I loved every twist of the story. I laughed and cried soooooo hard at the same time.

If you are a movie lover or love shooting videos, you will resonate deeply with this film. My personal opinion is that I like teenage school romance drama with both charming leads, and although this is not a romance film, I still find both actors are lovely and charming.

To anyone reading this: cherish your friends. I want to say to my old friends that although we are no longer in contact, I also want to thank you for being my friends and created many wonderful memories.

Tissue warning!!!
2 December 2023
Please don't begrudge your time to listen and care for the people around you. This action can save him or her, and it can also save yourself.

The writing is very detailed, and through a suicide note, it tells the protagonist's story, inner regret and sadness, and reveals the mental health problems that everyone may have caused by school or family or even interpersonal relationships. I'm sure we've all been through this. The film makes good use of reverse chronology to make the characters and themes more three-dimensional and touching.

After In Broad Daylight, this is another movie worth watching.

This is Hong Kong
27 November 2023
This film is marvelous,no matter the director or writer, everything is brilliant. Lawrence Kwan handled the film well.

The whole film is heavy and heartbreaking and it broke my heart in a million ways, especially it was based in a true story. Some scenes shocked me. Some said film is a medium that reflects social reality, and this film tells us what exactly happening in Hong Kong.

Not much to comment on the performances, they are great.

In broad daylight, many bad guys will do evil things that are not in line with human nature. They escape because of the loopholes in the system. We need to use limited power to defend correct things and values.

One of the BEST film in 2023
15 November 2023
I have ZERO expectation when I got into the theater, FULL of surprise when I left. Taiwan's movies are getting better and better.

The chase scenes are tense and the fight scenes are fiery, full of Taiwan's unique characteristics. There was one scene that I really want to scream at the theater, so good so good. (You know which scene I'm talking about if you watch the film, I give you 10 second to think or LEAVE)

The characters are well developed. Every actor did a great job, especially Ethan Juan, Ben Yuen and Yi-Wen Chen.

The story contains Buddhist principles, is meaningful and full of fun. The Chinese name 'Zhou chu chu san hai' has a inspiring story behind. If interested, you can go check it out.

Really worth seeing.

Great thriller
21 July 2023
I didn't know anything until I went to cinema and found it to be a interesting black comedy, especially when Marco arrives Korea. The plot is easy to follow, the twists are fun, and the thrills are great. The ending is fine, everything pours out, the truth is there with a real purpose, but not an open ending.

The opening gave us a precise vibe, you can see blood and 'professionalism', which was kind of cool. I love Kang Tae-Ju, he is really good. We had the same question as him while watching, what's going on right now? Who should i trust? Where should I go?

I need to give credit to the writer. Until the end you will never know Nobleman is good or evil. It was a bit slow at first, but it got better gradually. Worth a watch.

Call me GAY or husband
2 June 2023
There must be a reason why this movie is so popular in Taiwan. I had high expectations before I entered the theatre and I was not disappointed. I know the reason now.

First, the cast is perfect. Love the cast. They have a great chemistry together. Greg Han Hsu is amazingly great and sexy in this film. Po-Hung Lin and Gingle Wang also did a great job.

Second, the film is entertaining. There are so many laughable scenes. While some are outdated, but still work. The story is perfect for me. The film delves into many issues. It is about gay, posthumous marriage and also FAMILY. I mean the ending wasn't hard to guess, but is touching nonetheless. I cried so hard.

I wish same-sex marriage can be legal everywhere, and everyone can give their love and support to this.

A male corpse sparks social problems in Hong Kong
21 April 2023
Last year, the directors' "The Corridor of Justice" was well received. This year's has a completely different style compared to the last one, it can resonate more with Hong Kong people. The reality is actually as absurd as the movie. Although the plot is a bit off topic, it involves issues such as land issues, pets in private buildings, family ethics, marriage, real estate advertisements , haunted house property prices, etc., a lot of culture shock, a lot of details, I believe Hong Kong people have a special resonance, there must be laugh with tears. The cast is good, although there are many characters, each has its own characteristics, especially the security guards of the building.

Greedy
19 January 2022
This film is like Taiwan version of Along with the Gods, but more simpler. I can see the visuals, and the editing is OK. I don't understand why the director included the joke during a touching scene, it totally ruined my emotions.

The story is terrible. The creativity does not compensate the bad storytelling. Ko cannot balance the storyline of the afterworld and the love story, it feels like there are so many to express but completely loses its focus. However, I can say the leads are great in this film.

Eternals (2021)

A breakthrough
19 January 2022
First, the visual is amazing, especially Zhao didn't do very much green screen, we can see modern London and ancient Babylon, those are huge and impressed, it fits the huge background story of Eternals. Not many fight scene, but I can deal with that.

The main theme of the story is all about Arishem, is God always right? The story actual speaks more than that, but I'm not gonna say it right here. I think Zhao did an amazing job on developing the characters within 156 minutes runtime.

We don't need to argue if this movie is good or not, I think Shang-Chi is old-fashioned, however, the fight scene impressed me. In the meanwhile, I think this movie brings something that other superhero movies cannot bring, maybe it is not exciting as you thought, but is makes you think. In conclusion, I will recommend you to see this, it has its uniqueness.

I will definitely miss this series
29 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
There are several scenes are not necessary that make the movie a bit too long ; a lot of explosions, a bit scary scenes. The plot is simple, but with some surprising deaths. This is the perfect ending for this movie.
