The Collector (2009)
NOT a good movie
I do not understand all of the 'wow what a great horror movie' or 'original' or 'a new horror icon'?? WTF to the last one in particular. I am from the genre OF horror: original FT13, Nightmare, Halloween, etc.. and all of the remakes. Ask me how many comedies i've seen and I can answer on one hand. But this movie is an insult to the genre. Icon, are you SERIOUS???? the scariest part about this killer IMO is how bad his acting is. Run thru a room full of traps and he misses them. Not to mention that it took more time to set these traps then it did to catch the people and HOW did he know that anyone else was even coming??? The effects were hostelish etc... anyway I respect all people's opinions and THAT IS WHAT THIS IS: MY Opinion
Millennium (1996)
Imitated extensivley never attatined by all of the wannabes
Ever since the pilot I knew this would be something special. Seeing Lance Henriksen in his own TV show was a dream come true. He was always a favorite and is my own personal favorite actor of all time. The Man with the Golden Voice. This show was too heavy for the era it came out. All the crap TV want to be's like profiler, CSI, closer, etc... what garbage. Even law and order took the two opening notes from millennium (wonder if Chris carter figured that out!). I have all the episodes and watch them constantly. I hate how the great shows get sent away then they come up with new crap (and crap it is) that isn't near as good and fails in every way. Millennium was the darkest and most intriguing show with the most intense character (henriksen) i've ever seen on TV. I wish people would take note of the crap they watch. I say go out and get what every crime show today has copied off of and will never be able to duplicate: Millennium. This Is Who We Are
Aberration (1997)
Caught it on SciFi - entertaining and not that bad
First of all; the rating scale is difficult to use as I recommend the movie (who doesn't love campy, tongue-in-cheek low budget scifi/horror; if you're reading this you do!). I use the scale for the quality of scenes not the movie whole. The acting was OK and at times rather bad. There were some cool aspects and the gore was quite good even though scifi hacked it. Pamela Gidley i've always loved! The lizards looked like a cross between older godzilla movies with a hint of digital animation at times. I loved the setting (cabin in the woods) and the snow. A hot snow bunny always helps. All in all it's definitely worth a rent.
Haute tension (2003)
Not your standard slasher
While we all may recognize elements of many American horror films that is to be expected. This movie is an homage to the 70's/80's, much as Wrong Turn was (another fantastic movie). Where this one excels puts the rest behind. The fact that there isn't much dialouge but the movie is enough to scare the hell out if you is the first reason. Second, this is a love story. Not your brainless slasher full of quips, boobs, butts, etc... This movie has BRAINS and an incredible story line. I have watched movies for MANY years and can tell you director, composer and producer of 99% of what i've seen. This movie went straight to the top of my list. It far surpasses any American horror flick or remake for that reason. Most foreign films do.
