Mosaic (2018)
Flat, predictable, and progressively more boring
I wanted to like this mini-series, but this show clearly falls flat. I liked how they took time to create an interesting and deep character story for Sharon Stone. Her character and performance is the star of the show. However, as the plot progresses, her role is diminished, others take over, and it becomes a snoozefest.
It was one of those shows that you begin and think it is pretty good. After a few episodes you think it has to get better, it has to get going, it has to have a climax. It, sadly, does not. The ending is terrible. Perhaps they left it that way in hopes of season two, but thank goodness they ended this Mosiac misery after only six episodes.
De forbandede år (2020)
Very good...and then it stops
WWII history is an interest of mine, so this movie caught my eye when scrolling for WWII films I had not yet seen.
The occupation of Denmark by the Nazis is of particular interest to me after studying WWII and reading novels like "Hornet Flight" by Ken Follett.
This movie starts out very broad. There are a wide range of characters and the film does a good job of providing some depth to each of them. This, in my opinion, is the best part of the movie.
A wealthy industrialist Danske family navigates the occupation in a variety of ways due to conflicting opinions within the immediate and extended family.
It was a historically accurate film with views from both sides of the war that sadly ended far too quickly, leaving the audience craving more from the characters so deeply introduced.
One Dollar (2018)
Very underrated!
One Dollar takes the time to show an incredible amount of depth into all of the main characters.
There is a lot going on at times, and it ties together nicely at the end. It is too bad there is not another season.
