Karakomik Filmler: Kaçamak (2019)
Another alien movie from the best comedian
Unfortunately, GORA is still Turkey's one and only decent space movie, this one is not as funny as GORA but still does the job and annoys enough those who hate alien movies. :)) I love sci-fi movies a lot but I like this one even more because Cem portrays aliens as not monstrous creatures on the contrary a peaceful, kind and humane neighbor of ours from other galaxies. The movie made me think maybe we are the monstrous ones that's why aliens do not make themselves visible yet. I hope one day we become better humans and establish relationships with the other civilizations in space. The end of the movie was a great relief for my conscience. Extra kudos to Cem Yilmaz for that amusing justice. P. S. I showed my mother the refrigerator in one of the most hilarious scenes of Turkish movies in Kacamak and she ended up purchasing that exact refrigerator thanks to Cem. :)
Karakomik Filmler: Emanet (2020)
Superb drama acting for a comedian
Cem Yilmaz is Turkey's all time favorite comedian and I knew this wasn't a comedy movie but the more times I watched the more I laughed at Birol's miserable ineptitude. He is a lunatic! I know it sounds psychopathic but it is Cem Yilmaz for God's sake! He, again impressed me with his acting skills and reminded me of Robert De Niro in all Karakomikler movies. He can play any character and he will be immensely successful in all of them. I have started realizing that his acting skills are greatly underappreciated by his Turkish audience. He can be anyone and you can see nothing left from Cem Yilmaz (as seen in Ayzek) I know that he can play four characters in a movie and no one would recognize three of them are played by Cem Yilmaz, too. Let's go back to Emanet. It really takes courage to play losers for an actor. Birol is weak, flawed, cringeworthy and mostly unlikable exactly the opposite of Cem Yilmaz in real life. I give 9/10 because of the plot since Emanet was the least I like in Karakomiks maybe it is because I am not a fan of TV or social media at all so I am not familiar with what is going on on television channels or social media in Turkey, though I am sure they are not any different in here in the US. Other than the TV part it is an exhilarating example of how Cem Yilmaz' mind works. I like his movies.
P. S. He smells the air better than anyone, he made Emanet two years before Don't Look Up of Leonardo Di Caprio but Karakomiks have been the victims of the childish political tug of war in Turkey.
Karakomik Filmler: Deli (2020)
Even his hard-core fans were not ready for such a thing :)))
Disco... I wonder if it is really called disco as disco in asylum houses. If it is I would be even more impressed by Cem Yilmaz' meticulousness in his job. Cem Yilmaz is all time best and most creative and productive comedian in Turkey and I knew this wasn't a comedy movie before I started watching. However, I could not continue watching after a while because it was too disturbing for me. Yes, I knew it was not comedy but I was not expecting the movie to be a psychological thriller with Once Upon A Time...In Hollywood type of dark humor. I am not an expert on movies, I am not a cinéphile. My only compass for a good movie is how it makes me feel. This movie made me feel as if I was in Guven's shoes the whole time in that mental hospital. It was scary. I stopped watching at around 45th minutes and decided to watch it during the day. I was only able to ready to learn what happened Guven (is Guven, Ozan Guven?)in disco after several days. Don't miss this out of the line Cem Yilmaz movie. You will kind of sense why he has been the best comedian for the last 25 years. He has a strange mind. :)
Ersan Kuneri (2022)
This was exactly what Turks needed the most at this moment
The mainstream understanding of good comedy in Turkey is mostly political satire which gets so boring, dull, repetitious and outdated over time. Ersan Kuneri in the opposite is a light, enjoyable, colorful, different, absurd, unexpected, relatable and sometimes an emotional roller coaster but I wouldn't have it any other way. I really enjoy watching powerful female characters. I am so impressed that Cem Yilmaz covers up the severe bitterness with such cute goofiness. I think that's the most I love about Cem Yilmaz. I would vote Ersan Kuneri as the best and only Turkish sitcom made for adult audience of all time. Everyone on this show is so witty and delivers their lines superbly that it's hard not to like all of them equally: They are not trying to be funny, their characters are silly enough to make every situation they involve funny. :) A very cozy show. Feeling blue? Watch this sitcom. Feeling happy? Watch this sitcom. Feeling bored? Watch this sitcom. In between classes? Watch this sitcom. Work lunch break? Watch this sitcom. It's my comfort show, and I will forever love it. Interestingly, never fails to entertain its audience. I have yet to find another Turkish show that is remotely close to the level of entertainment this show can provide. This sitcom will be just like Cem Yilmaz' stand up shows which you can watch over and over and again, yet never find yourself getting bored from it and laugh like you watch the first time. You will enjoy reciting the transcript lines with the characters after a while. This is also a good Turkish sitcom if your native language isn't Turkish and you are willing to learn that fascinating language. Not many shows are just as funny today as they were 15-20 years ago but Ersan Kuneri will be absolutely one of those shows. He sure raised the bar to the sky one more time!
