The Orville: Blood of Patriots (2019)
When did 'he' escape?
Several reviews talk about Orrin Channing, the POW , who does not know about a ceased fire, escapes and straight after this blows up enemy ships.
That is exactly what one should expect from a patriotic, heroic POW!
As such the whole story is rotten..
However.. I think there is a much more likely scenario, one where LT Channing escaped quite a while earlier and only blew up these ships to try and stop these peace talks.
It would be highly unlikely for him to find this 'explosive daughter' in a Krill POW camp or on the run from one.. A danger like her would not be put in some camp with others and a runaway POW in enemy space will not go around meeting all kinda random strangers.
Sadly the episode really did not go in to this and my explanation also has some problems, like the question why Channing did not contact The Union after his escape or if he did, why there was no record of this. Still, there are more reasonable explanations possible for this then for the problems with the other scenario.
The Orville: Identity, Part II (2019)
THIS is SYFY!!!
The Orville, just like most, if not all science fiction worth watching is not perfect. I have groaned at plenty of plot holes, but the humor made them less jarring then they might have otherwise been.
However, when this show does get it right.. IT REALLY GETS IT RIGHT! To hit it out of the park this early in its, hopefully long run, is very promising.
