Imperfections (2018)
Charming Comedy-Crime Film
This film surprised me in the best possible way! Imperfections effortlessly and skillfully combines both genres crime and comedy into this character narrative. The film follows Cassidy, played by Virginia Kull, is a struggling actress who was fired from work due to an audition. Realizing her dream as an actress isn't successful in Chicago, Cassidy moves back in with her mother to save move for a move back to Hollywood and starts working as a diamond runner for her mother's boyfriend's jewelry store. The salary of her new gig won't help her cover the costs for her move, she and the boss' son plan a heist to help solve their financial problems. I wasn't sure what to expect, but Imperfections surpassed my expectations and pleasantly surprised me with the entertaining story line that occurred throughout. The casting director did a superb job as I feel the story and characters truly came to life with these actors. The footage is well paced with cool shots that complements the excitement of the story. Imperfections unfolds into a gem of a film with witty humor, heart, and an unpredictable plot that I highly recommend to any film fan!

Good Fortune (2016)
Engaging Doc about Compassionate Entrepreneur
Good Fortune is truly one of the best documentaries I have seen and takes you on a journey through John Paul DeJoria's life from his poor and humble beginnings to his success as an entrepreneur and philanthropist. For him success is defined as being the best at what you do and helping others, not about profit. DeJoria is a person who improves upon the world each day and has the desire to make a difference. This film sparked an inspiration in me to always give what I can to others and to persevere over all of the obstacles life throws at you. The directors excel at engaging you into his story and making you feel connected to DeJoria. From being homeless twice, to creating a solar powered car, and then celebrating his 70th Birthday with a fundraiser for first responders, John Paul is one of a kind person. I highly recommend you watch this film as you learn about the compassionate and charismatic JP DeJoria and by the end you will feel as if you knew him all along.
Danger Close (2017)
Moving Film in Honor of our Heroes
Exhilarating, moving, and authentic, Danger Close takes you on an array of emotions, but at the end leaves you silent and humble. As a viewer, you are given an inside look into the uncensored and raw footage of the most courageous men and women, our soldiers. Recording on the front line, Alex Quade brought me right in the middle of action of our troops' everyday lives. Quade is the only journalist, male or female, to be embedded with special ops forces long term, which makes this documentary unique and a one of a kind experience. Her journey through Iraq is to honor fallen Staff Sergeant Rob Pirelli and the family he left behind. Quade moves from units in Iraq determined to deliver evidence of the mural in his honor. Along with the footage of her quest with different units, I was transported back to his family remembering their loving brother and son that left me connected and empathetic to this gold star family and others who have gone through the same loss. I was given a dual look into the life of military and their families. I was reminded that as they fight for our freedom, there are families wishing for their safe return. Quade does what few reporters have accomplished, affecting me emotionally with her determination to give a honest story and bring closure to the Pirelli family. It is a honor to be able to see into the lives of our modern society's heroes. Even though I will never experience first hand the life of a soldier, Danger Close delivers an insight and truth into their lives that few films have. I believe this is a documentary for anyone seeking a better understanding of our valiant soldiers and a remembrance to fallen soldiers.
