NCIS: Los Angeles (2009)
NCIS Fans: You will not be disappointed
I was a huge fan of CSI: for years, so naturally, I was excited by the spin-offs. And, like most true CSI: fans, I was sorely disappointed. That's not the case here. While NCIS: LA is not as "investigatively-oriented" as its original, it is still an intriguing and adventurous show. The lack of forensic investigation is easily explained away in the NCIS introduction show, stating that the LA team is more "Special Ops". The show has its unique characters, many of which seem to have a similar back story as the original - Callen's mysterious background mirrors the shaded past of Gibbs, Eric and Dom the techies are reminiscent of McGee, Kensi is (trying to be) as tough as Ziva. Even Hetty has an odd and enlightening past, much like Ducky. The only thing missing is the quick wit of Tony. It was very easy for me to become addicted to this show. And I hope it is the same for other NCIS fans out there!
Dead Meat (2005)
Boring, sick, and plot less
Well, what can I say? We rented this for my friend's 18th birthday, and regretted it. Between the horrible dialogue, sub-par 70's gore, and semi-pornographic content, this movie is just about enough to make you want to rent a chick flick or an Al Gore movie.
This movie has absolutely no continual plot until roughly 20 minutes before the end. You follow 4 horny cheerleaders, 2 lonely convicts, and a crazed cannibalistic serial killer. There is really no point to most of the film, no story to explain anything at all. The plot finally thickens when you learn the back-story of one of the convicts, and the story of Andre (played by ex-porn star Ron Jeremy) is finally revealed. However, even this is hard to follow and very cheesy.
If you're into poorly-written scripts, un-passable blood, and low-grade softcore teen porn, then I would suggest buying this movie. In fact, save us all the pain, and buy EVERY COPY YOU FIND. No one else really wants to see it.
Doom (2005)
I LOVE the game, but the movie was thoroughly disappointing...
DOESN'T GIVE AWAY TOO MUCH, DON'T WORRY!!!! I've been playing DOOM and DOOM II since I was 4 years old. A friend got DOOM 3 about 6 months ago. I love the original two. The third was okay. I've read the books at least four times (execpt the third...let someone borrow it, never got it back.)I was PSYCHED when I heard the movie was coming out. But, then I read the previews. I mean, does anyone see how The Rock can fit as Flynn Taggart??? If anything, I think that Karl Urban (who plays John "Reaper" Grimm) would be a MUCH better Taggart. He even looks kinda like him! And where are our other characters? Arlene? Albert? Jill? What about the monsters? Where are our favorite bad guys? I only saw a few game-movie connections, and only ONE book-game-movie connection. I don't know about you guys, but I want my old monsters. This movie reminded me more of Resident Evil (the zombies in R.E. just moaned and walked around...in Doom, they have guns) and Half-Life (scientists being attacked by aliens and slowly turning...). I think John Carmack needs his head examined. He creates a game that changes the way First Players are played, and, yet, he approves a movie that kills the true DOOM feeling.
