Scoop (2023)
Another good one from Hansal Mehta
After the brilliance of Scam (the Harshad Mehta series on sony liv), my expectations from this Netflix series were high. It's not quite there, probably because of a different (and less glamorous) plot (nothing comes close to Rags to Riches to crash story of Harshad Mehta). But nevertheless, quite an intriguing series that kept me hooked for the most part of it. The protagonist is a strong impactful character played very well by Karishma Tanna. There were episodes during jail ordeal that were exaggerated and elongated, but other than that a well made series that shows the dark side of journalism. Watch it for the strong performances of Karishma and Zeeshan; and the strong storytelling of Hansal!
Acapulco (2021)
The best series I have come across in recent times
This is such a simple, cheerful, fun series to indulge in and feel good. Had it been an Indian series, I'd say it's directed by Raju Hirani.
Probably the only series in recent times that I have watched episode by episode, because I just look forward to every single episode every week.
The character are loveable and are laid out really well, so much so that you identify with them. The resort is another world in itself, so is the place it's situated at. Some of the bits I really liked are -
1) maximo's righteousness - it's not perfect, but it's human
2) maximo and Julia's relationship
3) the friendship between memo and maximo
4) Isabel is really pretty!
Criminal Justice: Behind Closed Doors (2020)
Pathetic direction
This is as bad as a series can get. Waste of a good star cast (Pankaj Tripathi) and the leverage previous criminal justice season had. The whole series could have been done in one episode, but boy she won't speak. Trust me, save yourself from the ordeal, give this series a pass.
