Bewitched: Samantha's Caesar Salad (1969)

Jay Robinson as Julius Ceasar!
11 August 2023
Worth a watch for the reprisal of Julius Ceasar by the actor who perhaps played him better than anyone in Hollywood history. Jay Robinson took quite a step down from his legendary portrayals of the maniacal Ceasar in the Robe and Demetrius and the Gladiators. But sadly, many actors find themselves taking what they can get as they age. For the episode itself, another one of the many tired Bewitched scenarios where a legendary figure of the past is conjured up to present day scenarios until the bumbling witch,in this case, Esmeralda, can figure out how to send him back. I gave this episode 7 out of 10 only for Jay Robinson fans only.

Funny!
6 August 2022
The episodes with Sonny Drysdale the great old time comedian Louis Nye, were some of the best of the early Beverly Hillbillies run. His character of an older mama's boy trying to court the innocent Ellie May , America's sweetheart, is just pure 60s comedy at its best the likes of like you won't see again. Unfortunately.

Parking Wars (2008– )

Good and different reality series
16 December 2008
I'm not much for reality type serials, but this one is pretty good. It's interesting the way people curse out and villainies the Philadelphia Parking Authority. (PPA) It really shows how clueless those folks that ignore simple rules like having insurance and a valid drivers license keeps everyone safe and secure. (somewhat) It get on my nerves a little bit when morons yell at the PPA officers who are just doing their jobs. I wonder if these dopes realize that if there were no parking rules, people would just double park and park in front of hydrants and emergency areas, park in handicapped spots, cars would clog already ridiculously overcrowded roadways. Think about that next time you yell at 1 of these officers!

I find the PPA officers on this show to be funny and interesting, the way each personality blends into the Philly scene. Particularly interesting is Garfield and Sherry, 2 Boot officers who have a great chemistry, and show what great teamwork they have feeding off each other.

Each and every PPA officer on this show almost is forced to learn psychology in order to deal with an angry and ignorant public. Some are really good at defusing a volatile situation and confrontation from a panicked ticket offender.

Give this show a look, its not too taxing on the brain, and has a good mix of humor sensitivity and a good picture of urban Philly life.

Rookies (I) (2008– )

Good and different reality series!
11 December 2008
I'm not much for reality shows , but this one is pretty good. It has a mixture of seriousness, comedy and heartache.

The story particularly where the young officer Norris was killed was shocking and unexpected. Interesting the way they train these officers, the drama of each call, and how they handle each situation. I also find it interesting the way each rookie is critiqued by the FTO on the way they handle each situation. You almost try and figure out what the rookie is doing wrong before the training officer points it out.

If you are looking for a different take and reality series and tired of watching the 5 minute scenarios of the stale Cops (Bad Boys,Bad Boys what you gonna do)give this series a look. You will enjoy it.

Look forward to hopefully a long running series from different precincts.

The Last Request (I) (2006)
2/10
terrible!!!
1 November 2008
Warning: Spoilers
I watched about 45 minutes and gave up on it. I am a huge Danny Aiello fan, but he lost it unfortunately with age. He tries too hard to be funny and it doesn't work here. It was interesting seeing an aging Barbara Feldon (in her 70's but still pretty hot)for a couple of scenes, but that's about it.

Starts out with a sexually and nerdy repressed church choir boy, and his stud brother who's dying father's last request is that one of them gets married. So the Stud brother gets married and while on his honeymoon, (I think?) he croaks while getting laid. You see his wife's screams of ecstasy is enough to break glass, so glass shards falling on him from a mirrored ceiling does him in. (Believe it or not, funny, not) So, that leaves the nerdy son, and now I think the father's last request is that he gets laid 1st,and then gets married.(never explained that) Weird premise that gets boring fast.

He goes about trying to meet woman by way of strippers and escorts. One scene is where a stripper gives him a lap dance and the stripper actually goes into convulsions because she has some type of allergic reaction to his cologne.(This is the type of humor we are dealing with here) Then he tries to consult with an escort. The escort appears to be a washed up porn star who imitates a female Godmother to satirize the Godfather's famous Don Corleone. Yup, very dumb and again painfully not funny.

Oh yea, there is nothing funny about seeing an elderly woman fall down a flight of stairs! So as she lays at the foot of the stairs, her family just ignores her, and goes about their business cracking bad jokes with out anyone helping her. I found this to be very disturbing even though they were trying for some type of slapstick humor (I think they were going for a Naked Gun type humor here, and it's not even remotely close)

There seemed to be many scenes with old time Italian actors just thrown in there because they are Italian and really do nothing to help this sad movie. When Joe Piscopo came on as the nerdy boy's mentor, I just bagged it, I had enough.(Maybe its me, but has Joe Piscopo ever made a good movie or even been the slightest bit funny since his old SNL days?) I gave this stinker a 2.0!

Astro Boy (1963–1965)
Theme song
27 February 2006
I thought the 60's theme song from this cartoon series was one of the best and coolest of any cartoon series ever. Very underrated. Sounded like a school chorus choir, from what I remember. Anyone know of where you can find it/download it? "there u go Astro boy, on your mission today, rocket high to the sky, etc" Also are there any remastered DVD's out on this series. I checked Ebay and Amazon and could not find anything? There was a complete VHS set put out years ago but I thought the quality was terrible even for VHS Also, who was the name of the cool villain , who always regenerated body parts?Any help out there? Seansky
