The Dark Knight (2008)
Uttter dross
I don't know what film i saw - but i know i wasted 152 mins of my life.
There's virtually nothing positive about this film Perhaps it's the over hyped that's ruined an average film.
The film obviously suffered from the loss of Heath Ledger - though it's unclear at what point in the filming this happened (if at all). Maybe it's just been terribly scripted and badly edited.
There's no suspense - every idea in the film has been seen before. I think the whole cinema sat in disbelief in how bad this film is - at the end there was only relief that it had finished.
Caine is superbly cast as Alfred, Bale lacks from a poor script and a empty storyline, which is a shame, because Batman Begins was pretty good film
Maybe this film appeals the American audience - but on the opening night at my local cinema in N London - 99% of people walked out very disappointed
Casino Royale (2006)
New Bond - it's awful !
Oh my god - how bad is the new bond film
It's quite possibly one of the worst films I've ever seen - I truly wanted to leave the cinema.
I should of left during the opening credits - where were the naked female silhouettes ? The bond song ain't great either, despite having Chris Cornell singing it (ex Soundgarden and Audioslave)
OK I'll be fair - the first 80 mins are pretty good - then it's seems that the exec producer took over the script writing and decided to write another film and a lame (so very lame) love interest - obviously deciding that they had to make some type of chick flick appeal. The story just goes totally off track - it's as 30mins of the film was meant to have been left on the cutting room floor, but somehow it stayed in. And the love interest, was so much better done in "On Her Majesty's Secret Service"
Craig is good (best bond for a long time) but the supporting cast is really poor. Eva Green is dreadful how did she get cast ? I've never got Judy Dench as M - wasn't a good time to replace her with someone that really could fill the shoes of Bernard Lee (the original M)
Continuity was pretty bad and some really slack filming eg it's pouring with rain but it's bright sunshine (happens twice in the film) The jungle scene is shot on the backlot at pinewood - complete with Silver birch trees!
Just how difficult can it be to make a good bond film !!
C'était un rendez-vous (1976)
It's not as quick as you think
When you initially watch the DVD it's looks very quick.
I'm actually a racing driver, so i know what 150mph looks like and when he's on the Champs Elysee he's certainly close to that speed - 5 gear and max revs.
But the maths only add up to an average speed of just 44mph over the 6.5mile course. Which still isn't bad but not as quick as you initially think !
It's still something people talk about and I regularly pop the DVD into the player to show friends. It's still the same open jawed reaction !
The recently re released, re mastered DVD is far better quality than the poor private video's that had been knocking around for ages.
