Move Me No Mountain (2023)
A very compelling narrative. Life can throw curves at us all.
A very compelling narrative. Life can throw curves at us all. The film explores both homelessness and personal trauma. It showcases the daily mundane struggles of living on the streets, as well as the internal drama of overcoming. The lead actress does a very sensitive performance. She helps carry the film by a long stretch. The movie explores many spiritual topics as well as the practical topics of homelessness. The film looks great for an indie. They put a lot of work into the camera direction and color. I would say they could have done more work with the dialogue, and the pacing, but overall, very nice work for an indie directorial debut.
Butterfly (2022)
This is a very dramatic urban story.
This is a very dramatic urban story. There are many facets to the writing of the story and the characters. I like that they identified issues of homelessness and the struggles that people in unusual circumstances face. Sometimes you have to claw at the water of life to keep your head up. The use of color and camera in the film is also refreshing. It lends a feel and tone to the drama. The locations also develop the film as a thematic focal point. The locations help create a sense of movement as we progress throughout the story. This movie looks at some largely unseen aspects of society. An interesting piece of movie making!
Vendetta Road (2023)
A solidly suspenseful thriller
A solidly suspenseful thriller. It had me guessing the whole runtime. Dakota's character draws us through this twisting and turning movie. The supporting actors also help shore up the tone. Very nice representation of the complexity that humanity hides within. Having to guess each characters internal motive helps keep every scene an interesting reveal. It may be a slow start, but the story will hold suspense while it hits you with action scenes. The use of camera movement was well handled, the locations fit the tone of the story, and the music helps hold the tension and action firmly in place.
The Stalker: Part II (2023)
Short but sweet thriller
Short but sweet thriller. This movie may not fill your whole night of movie watching, but it will leave a short and sweet impact.
Not many films can be under an hour and really deliver an impact. This film is a statement to the fact that you don't need to be 3 hour epic or 20 minute episode.
A very dramatic thriller. Full of suspense, but not overdone. The cast was quite good. The lighting also played a big part in the mood and vibe of the film. There were comedic moments that help break up the mood without detracting from the movie as a whole. I didn't watch the first one, but I will need to now!
Cohabitation (2020)
Very unique version of a thriller.
This movie explores a scenario not often looked at. Dealing with real peoples real world problems of having to get roommates, and the characters finding themselves between a rock and a hard place. There is a great dynamic between the characters. A movie that is dealing with human experience and trauma; it separates itself from your average thriller.
This movie has a lot of twists and turns and the ending is really unexpected. Definitely low budget, but the PTSD angle isn't something I've seen included in your typical crazy, killer roommate movie. So it explores a brand new way to look at that sub genre.
