Apocalypto (2006)
Absolutely Amazing!!!
I was very hesitant about watching Apocolypto. I hate movies that are packed with violence and gore and I always felt that subtitles took so much away from a movie itself. Mel Gibson has completely changed my feelings about that. In both Apocolyopto and the Passion, you barely even realize that you are reading the words, and they seem to bring so much more to the movie. The violence, while being possibly the most graphic and disturbing I've ever seen could not shake my fondness for this movie. I am in awe of it, and in awe of the genius of Mel Gibson. You feel like you are right there in the jungle watching everything happen, and that you are there with Jaguar Paw, struggling with him. It is truly an amazing movie, with absolutely amazing performances, and with an amazing mind behind the camera! I highly recommend it... even for the faint hearted souls like me. Just be prepared to squirm and scream with disgust at many a scene!!!!
Inside the Actors Studio (1994)
best interviews ever
I discovered this show only months ago, and was so mad that it had been on so long without my knowledge. I am not interested in becoming an actor or director, but I am a movie lover to the core and am always interested in what actors have to say. These interviews are wonderful because they are not the average "hollywood" interview. It's not about who the actor is sleeping with, and how hard they've been partying. The interview explores the reasons behind the career choices, and experiences of filming. It is much more real, and deep, and interesting then any others. You really feel like you are part of the audience, and you get to see a different side to some very incredible actors and learn something new. I love it!
