Upstairs, Downstairs (1971)
Still great....
I loved the 70's version first time round. I was much younger then and thought it was faultless. Now Much older I am watching it again and sad to say Sara (Pauline Collins) is irritating as hell. How many times is this girl going to get pregnant. Her cheeky ways are not endearing but annoying. I can't wait for her character to go. I love Pauline Collins in other work she's done. A lot of the goings on between the staff and the upstairs characters are not believable and quite fantastical. But this is drama so not to be taken as historical. Other episodes in the series are still good and most characters are acted well. Having said all that I plan to watch all the series.
Marriage (2022)
Fantastic
I don't understand the bad reviews I read on here and elsewhere. Sean Bean and Nicola Walker are phenomenal in this realistic drama. The supporting cast were an absolute gem. This is real life to most people that have been married for a number of years. The pain of losing their son Nicholas some years ago may have caused the awkwardness around each other. As for Ian, being made redundant and not being able to find work adds to the misery of his daily life. Jealousy towards his wife and her boss turns it's ugly head too. There are humorous bits (for me if not for dear Ian) One in particular when he was looking for revitalising shampoo in the supermarket. Lots of great scenes elsewhere by the other cast members with their own stories to make this a fabulous piece of work.
Hollington Drive (2021)
Unwatchable..
...for me because the actors speak/mumble under their breaths, the kids too. All the mumbling and loud music was impossible to carry on watching. No subtitles either.
Bridgerton (2020)
Not for me...
I was looking forward to this. Shame I can't watch Beyond the first half an hour. It's a load of over the top acting (May be intentional) even the voiceover was hurting my ears and put my teeth on edge.
The Last Days of Chez Nous (1992)
Overacting
Half the time middle aged people acting like teenagers
Not one likeable character
Hollywood (2020)
Was going great .
It was a great story until the last couple of episodes. This was set in the 50's and truly a fantasy for the writers. They threw everything at it for the snowflake generation. So gushy and predictable
