Bottom feeders of society
16 October 2021
If you ever feel like you want to hate people then watching this program is definitely the way to go! At least they can all be comfortable in knowing that there are very few people on this earth with less active and working brain cells. I can only hope that this show was created for the purpose of laughing at these people. At one point they actually advocate not eating in order to remain skinny. It is beyond horrendous.,

1 star is generous
19 April 2021
This is the worst film I've ever seen in my life. The special affects were abysmal, the acting was awful, I don't even think they did any Jiu Jitsu either.

Just awful
18 April 2020
Having read HP Lovecraft's work I think it's fair to say he would be turning in his grave with this bile. Having seen Lovecraft done well, this was just an abysmal waste. The two stars I have given it were for the cage rage. Never in my life has a film lasted so long.

Disappointed
1 February 2020
Have been watching this every week and was really hoping for a good mystery, but it's been a let down!

The acting was great and an interesting concept but fell totally flat in the last episode.

Fantastic documentary
10 November 2019
This is one of the best documentaries that Netflix has produced. It was completely unbiased, presented all sides fairly, brilliant cinematography and just incredibly well put together. You do have to laugh at those giving it 1 star because 'Israel did not exist in 1947', they have done that because it is now known as Israel, otherwise it would be confusing. Truly brilliant documentary, ignore the misguided 1 stars!

One of the best shows I've seen in years
17 October 2019
While I must admit that the first few episodes were a bit slow, once it got going this was honestly one of the best shows I've seen. It was incredibly funny, well written and cast extremely well. Every series was set somewhere different and brought something different in terms of characters and themes. Would definitely recommend it to anybody looking for a good laugh. Maybe not if you are a devout Christian though, probably would not be your cup of tea.

Never gets old
4 October 2019
I'm on my third round of watching this programme and it just never gets old. Emily Gilmore is hands down the best character. It's funny, emotional, smart, what more can you want from a tv series? Will most definitely be rewatching again in the future.

Almost completely accurate

Warning: Spoilers
I first heard of this ordeal by listening to a This American Life episode called anatomy of doubt. A few years later this series emerged. I watched the series not having connected the two until the end of the first series. I thought the acting was fantastic, a bit slow moving to start with but I feel like they really captured the agony that these women went through and their different reactions, particularly with Marie. I've read a lot of reviews that try to say this is political and feminist. To those I would suggest listening to the podcast, they interview Marie, her two foster mums, her friends and the detective who lead marie's Investigation, not to mention the two female detectives who brought the monster to justice. Listen to that and you will recognise just how close to the truth this series is.

Compelling

Warning: Spoilers
I read some of the reviews on IMDB before watching and I must say I'm surprised by those giving 1 star reviews because they believe this series to be 'political propaganda' because it features interviews with Trump. Nobody forced Trump to do those interviews at the time this crime was committed. There is a long history of coerced confessions, there are several documentaries about just that! Nothing changes the facts of this case, four very young boys were falsely accused of a terrible crime, their families went through absolute hell also. They deserve their story to be told, the same as anybody else. This documentary is incredibly well made with a host of brilliant actors and was extremely gripping. Anybody willing to give it 1 star has to take a look in a mirror.

Excellent film
18 May 2019
I have only watched this recently, my partner couldn't believe that I hadn't seen it. After watching it, I couldn't believe it either! This is such an excellent film, the comedy, while some of it has not aged well, is sublime! Towards the end it really threw me off too, but In a fantastic way. If you haven't seen this yet, put it at the top of your list immediately!

Terrible
10 May 2019
Could only stomach around 10 minutes of this, the sketches went on far too long and were simply not funny and just weird. Many are comparing it to SNL, which is frankly an insult to SNL. Each sketch is forced and over the top, I will not be attempting to watch any more of this.

True to the real life characters
10 May 2019
I do have to laugh at the reviews that say how terrible the acting is or how unlikeable the characters are. Watch the documentary about the true story and you will appreciate this series a lot more. All of the actors have done a great job! This man was a complete nut job in real life and Eric Bana does a fantastic portrayal of what we are told he was like by the people who knew him/ investigated him. It's pretty terrifying to know that people like him exist! Fantastic series!

Great performances
8 May 2019
Having watched the documentary, 'the jinx', I have to commend Ryan Goslings performance. He captures Robert Durst perfectly. Watched it originally in 2010 and then again recently after watching the jinx, appreciated the film a lot more the second time round.

Disturbing
22 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
While this film certainly had some flow issues, the topic is so important. Whether female, male, adult or child, or however you identify, nobody deserves to be assaulted. The attitude of the citizens of Maryville is just plain disturbing, not in the least, the attitude of that bone head sheriff. It's scary to me that he is himself a father of two young daughters. Unfortunately this attitude is still widespread and the bravery of these girls to come forward and continue to campaign for survivors is seriously impressive. This film highlights not only the affect of the event itself but also the long term effects and damage that has been caused, including the loss of life for poor Audrie and the pain and suffering that her family have gone through. All this could have been avoidable, these boys all think they are invincible, untouchable and don't need to be held accountable for their actions. Above all, the lesson to be learned from this is to educate and to support. Places like Maryville and it's very 'culpable' residents, should not be allowed to operate the way that they have before now. As a side note, I was very pleased to hear that the sheriff was not re-elected, he and his attitude are just plain dangerous.

Disgusting
21 April 2019
This is the worst thing I have ever seen. A six year old child is abducted and murdered, and we are faced with loads of self involved adults. Absolutely sickening, the people involved in this production should be deeply ashamed of themselves. It's been a long time since I've witnessed something so completely offensive. Jonbenet deserves more.

A little bit yawnsome
20 April 2019
This film was a bit of a waste of great talent, I found myself yawning at points, which is unusual because I generally love murder mysteries. It dragged on for a bit too long and had many pointless encounters. Perhaps it would have been better suited as a mini series!

A very insightful programme
20 April 2019
I don't think any intelligent person can begin watching one of these true crime investigation series expecting to get all the answers gift wrapped at the end. The truth is, these families have waited over 30 years to have anybody take a serious look at what happened to these women. Things were missed or overlooked in the original investigations. The show doesn't promise to blow your mind with calculated Hollywood style plots, the investigator merely follows leads that the authorities do not have the budgets for to look into now. I personally think it's well worth the watch, but if you are looking for a Sherlock Holmes ending, it's maybe not your cup of tea.

Wasted film
10 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I was really enjoying this film right up to the end. They had a brilliant tense atmosphere going by only giving small glimpses of Pyewacket, which I believe is one of the key ingredients of a great horror. Then the film just ends, she kills her own mother, then that's the end. Could have been exceptional.

Failed to meet up to potential
6 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The storyline for this film is certainly interesting, but it just did not live up to its potential. I think the issue from the offset is that none of the main characters are likeable or relatable. I also felt as though there were a few moments where there was a supposed 'big reveal' or an 'ahhhh' moment, but it was just completely lost on me. After watching this film I cannot honestly say if Danny killed the woman, if he's good or bad, or even if the psychologist is good or bad. He doesn't seem to like the idea of helping people, yet that is what his profession is all about. Very confused after watching this film, there are some good bits in it, hence the 4 rating, but I think a bit of extra effort could have made this a far better watch.

Not bad at all
6 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I havered a bit on whether to watch this Film or not based on the reviews, but I'm glad I gave it a chance because it's a good film. It's not excellent, but it serves the purpose of being eerie. Dylan Sprouse's acting is superb, he really pulled off the nut job character extremely well. The main character, Mr Butler could have used a bit more edge to him and the actress playing the wife is downright awful at times, but all in all, I was pleased to have watched it. The ending was really good too, it looked like it wouldn't be a great ending, but they pulled it back with the psychopath returning to Mr Butler's house and killing his wife.

If you are looking for something award worthy then this probably isn't for you, but a satisfying watch, it is.

Bit of a waste
5 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
It's such a shame that this film didn't quite live up to its potential. It could have been so much better than it was. Don't get me wrong, its certainly watchable, but it fell a bit flat. The timeline is a bit all over the place, the male detective is horrible and it makes no sense why she would be allowed to contact her father 8 years after being abducted. The end product was a waste of good acting abilities.

Surprisingly great tv
4 January 2019
The first time I watched this, I turned off within 10 minutes. Reason for this being that it seemed really over the top and the main character was detestable. I decided to revisit and give it another go. Little did I know, over the top was a crucial part of the show, and Brian Finch gradually grows on you. His character develops from being a show off to a really truly caring individual. Some of the episodes are really outrageous, but it is really worth watching and a genuinely funny show. It's just a shame they aren't making another series, but it does end well.

Disappointed
22 December 2018
Having loved the conjuring and conjuring 2, I expected this film to be another great story with plenty of scares and twists. It delivered on absolutely none of this, I didn't jump once. It was cliched, boring a lot of the time and the only link to the previous stories was at the very end. Do not waste your time on this! If they intend to bring out more films in this franchise, they will really need to be unique again to interest people after this colossal bore.

Annoying characters who don't look after their kids
20 July 2018
I'm not entirely sure if this is the fault of the actors or the director, but everything is just completely over the top!

Interesting enough story line, but hard to get past the constant arm waving weirdness of the main character.

Giving the silenced a voice
29 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I have been a massive fan of these kinds of series ever since listening to This American Life's spin off podcast 'Serial'. This is the epitome of investigative journalism, giving a voice to the silenced sufferers of injustice.

In this case, the abuse victims of members within the Catholic Church in Baltimore.

Often these documentaries provide a narrative, and you shouldn't expect to receive a definitive answer to all the questions, but I feel the point is more to get the story out there to the general public. The stories of those who had their painful memories ignored, destroyed even, by the justice system, not even to mention the church.

What happens in the next few years will be the true revelation of the type of power these documentaries hold.

As always it was excellently made and credit goes out to the two women who have pursued this tirelessly for years.

Watch it and make up your own mind, but the facts and the testimonies from the survivors speak for themselves!
