Love in the Time of Corona (2020)
Loved it! So relevant for today
I loved this drama series. It is so relevant to the issues of today. People of all races, ages, gender, ect can relate to it. Love is so universal. It was very refreshing.
Sweet Magnolias (2020)
Love this!
Yes, this show is maybe too wholesome for some. It's like a Lifetime movie but in a series. Why isn't this on Lifetime, you say? Well, there are great actors and actresses of all ages on this show. Why can't Netflix have a show that is family appropriate? Although sappy, it's very realistic and normal people that grew up in a small town like me can totally relate! There are some real life themes and problems that everyone has felt at sometime in their lives.
One interesting thing is that it is a great illustration of how we can all judge others for their actions and yes, when wrong, they should suffer the consequences, but is their sin any wrong than all of ours? People make mistakes but haven't we all? No, I would not befriend the mistress nor the cheating husband, but they are still people and have feelings also.
It's a very good show with a lot of stories that can be told. I have not yet finished the season, but I already hope there are more.
Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madam C.J. Walker (2020)
Great Mini-series
Don't let the negative reviews sway you. There are just as many positive ones, so please watch it for yourself. From the negative reviews, they just talk about the creative liberties done in the film such as the boxing scenes and the modern music. I thought the boxing scenes idea was brilliant! It really gave a good depiction of exactly how she was feeling. As a darker black woman and entrepreneur, she was in the battle of her life. Also, they were talking about the Jack Johnson fight, so that also goes along with the film.
I thought the story was entertaining as well as educational. I did not know all of that information about Madame C.J. Walker. Even the story behind her name. I had no clue. So what it wasn't 100% historically accurate. What movie ever is? Read the book.
The movie presented so many different themes: Colorism, racism, sexism, low self esteem, maritL issues, loyalty, and friendship. I loved the character, Randsom. I almost clapped when I read in the end that he ran the company after her death.
Sadly, the themes present in the movie that is set almost 100 years ago are the same things that are going in in present day. So, for the people taking about they don't like the modern music in the film...well it is still talking about modern themes/problems in the present day, so why not?
Bottom line is that this was great to me. I enjoyed everything about it other than it wasn't long enough. For her to be a millionaire. I wanted see her enjoy her money more. 😃
Sindeului manchan (2012)
Great Korean Soap Opera!
I don't know why there are bad reviews! I loved it! My mother is Korean and it made me feel so much closer to her as I watched this. I loved the storyline as there were so many different directions it could have gone. I loved learning more about Korean cuisine. It wasn't just the typical Korean movie trying to be like an American movie. I wish Amazon Prime will bring it back!
