The Vast of Night (2019)
Get past the first twenty minutes!
After the first loooong, boring, irritating scene things get a lot better. By the end of the film there is so much suspense and nervousness that you almost forget the total dross that you sat through at the start. Overall, an enjoyable film.
Suburbicon (2017)
Better than its rating
Well worth a watch. The only reason I can think of that it's got such poor reviews is people don't like the fact it's directed by Clooney? Sure, it's no masterpiece or going to be many people's favourite of the year, but it's worth watching. An enjoyable way to spend a few hours.
Life of Crime (2013)
Way more enjoyable than its average rating suggests!
I enjoyed this film a lot. It's not ground breaking or stylish or full of violence. It's nice and easy with funny characters and some laugh out loud moments. A we'll put together, charming film.
Snowpiercer (2013)
A disappointingly lame film
First off the premise of the whole film makes no sense - why are they all on a train? Trains need rails that are maintained, but supposedly no one can survive outside to maintain them? Surely some kind of bunker would be better.
The acting was properly bad. Characterisation was poor - I mean the main guy maybe said 5 lines in the film.
There is literally nothing to commend it. I'm not sure why the rating is so high on IMDb? I'm just glad I watched it for free on Netflix and didn't fork out any money for it.
Informer (2018)
A great watch
A really gripping and gritty series. It's thought provoking and believable. While the characters and their backgrounds are particularly interesting, the plot is also superb.
