Talk to Me (2022)
A Horrifying Hand
I had been passing this movie by because I thought it looked rather hokey in the trailer. I'm glad that I decided to watch it. I only wished that I had gone to see it in the theater. I love a well made horror film and was completely surprised how good this film is. It is a fantastic story and completely horrifying and suspenseful. I hope that a sequel and prequel are made!!! The make up was fantastic as well as the special effects. The acting was very good as well as the dialogue and music in the film. The editing was superb. I was completely horrified after watching the film and loved the ending!!!"
No One Will Save You (2023)
FANTASTIC SURPRISE
This movie is truly a gem of a film. It is an all in one sci fi thriller with frights and suspense throughout. Rather than only giving quick glimpses of the alien intruders, the aliens are fully featured throughout the film. The film is An Invasion of the Bodysnatchers meets A Quiet Place meets Mars Attacks with a dash of humor in the film. I loved how the movie kept mutating its theme from scene to scene. It was a refreshing film to see and I plan to watch it again. I would have loved to see it in the theater and it would be a delight in 3D format. I give this film 10 stars for all of the aforementioned reasons. BRAVO!!!
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023)
Fantastic!!!
This is one of the best Indy films in the series. I saw it in IMAX. I loved the aging Jones and never once thought that they were trying to make an old man look like he had the girth and brawl for his role.
I loved the journey that the movie took me on with the action packed sequences. The humor was true to the rest of the films. There were some nice surprises throughout the film and the special effects were very well done.
The movie exceeded my expectations given so many negative reviews. I feel that those who gave the negative reviews need to check to see if they have a pulse and/or watched the same movie that I saw?
Bravo!!! I look forward to seeing the movie again.
Bros (2022)
A touching story of love
Bros is a well written story about the challenges of loneliness and relationships. I enjoyed that gay history was a focus of this movie. It is so important for all gays to understand how far glbtq+ rights have transformed through time. I cried many times watching this movie as I reminisced the past meaningful relationships in my life. At first, I wasn't sure I wanted to watch the movie because of the main characters bitterness, but as I watched I found his cynicism to be much like my own. I enjoyed how the writers portrayed the multi faceted arenas of relationships that we sll face in the course of our relationships. This movie touched me in a special way.
Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio (2022)
BRAVO
Del Toro's adaptation of Pinocchio is beautifully made. Flawless. Suspenseful. Action. Adventure. And completely squeezed my heart out of every emotion held within.
The animation is beyond fantastical. Every detail is phenomenally fulfilled in this film.
The film, in my opinion, is not for small children.
Keep a box of kleenex nearby if you are prone to shedding tears. And, perhaps, call a close friend after you watch the film. It is a stark reminder of our mortality.
Aside from the original animated film adaptation of the story, this is the best that I've seen. Bravo!!!!! Bravo!!! BRAVO!!!
Pearl (2022)
Cruelty to Animals
The opening scene shows an insinuated pitchfork killing of a goose and then shows the girl obsessed with being a star carrying it on a pitchfork and feeds it to an alligator. Really? The director has to rely on cruelty to animals and the cliche of a girl being obsessed with being a star to make a movie?
After seeing this scene, I could not watch this movie. It did not matter to me what this movie was about....although it is clearly obvious that the obsessed girl with kill and do anything it takes to be a star. Really? As if American girls aren't totally brainwashed enough with being obsessed with being a star.
Three Thousand Years of Longing (2022)
I WISHED this movie was better.....
I was very excited to see this film. The story was very interesting, but for me, the contemporary story of Alithea and the Djinn was rather dull. Most of the contemporary story was of Alithea and Djinn in bathrobes sitting in a hotel room. If the contemporary story would have been as interesting and compelling as the past stories of the Djinn, I would have liked it more. And perhaps if there had been more dialogue between the characters in the past stories of the Djinn it would have been better? The stories from the past felt rushed. And the film itself felt rushed and a bit disjointed. And why was it that it was always women that found the bottle and were granted three wishes? The special effects were good. The acting was good. Cinematography was great. Costuming etc, all good. Again, had the contemporary story been more interesting, especially, for me, it would have been a much better.
Lost Ollie (2022)
Thoughtful, Sweet, Sometimes Disturbing Serues
A very well made series. Beautifully animated. Excellent writing and story. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this series. It is sometimes hard to watch and left me in tears at the end.
Pieces of Her (2022)
First Episode is a 10....slowly Drizzles out to a 2
The first episode was fantastic. The second episode was very good. Then it became a soap opera. I'm watching episode 7 and probably won't even finish watching it......I don't even care what happens.
God's Favorite Idiot (2022)
There's a Difference Between Slapstick and Stupid
And this show is just beyond stupid as stupid can get. It is not funny at all. I really wanted to love this show. The premise was interesting. One episode in......and it was over for me. Stupid and Stupider.
Prey (2022)
Not a Fan
I am not a fan of this franchise however the trailer looked like this movie might be good.
Right away I was instantly turned off by the modern English spoken by the Indians in 1700s. And all of the costumes looked brand new. Everyone was squeaky clean. Then the special effects....oh my could they be more bargain basement looking? And, the acting.....not good. No one on Earth can run as fast as a deer either....that made me laugh. For me, it was so bad in the first fifteen minutes ( and I really wanted to like the movie) I could not watch any more of it.
MEAD (2022)
Too Bad So Sad
The trailer looked like this movie could be a cult classic. The special effects are quite nice.......but the acting and the story are TERRIBLE!!! I wanted so much to love this movie and it was NOT so bad that it was good......it was just a bad movie.
Secret Headquarters (2022)
A Brainless Stereotypical Superhero Film For Kids
This movie is for kids.....However, it is completely full of stereotypes. And the main character "Charlie" is completely demasculinized....his voice is even very much like that of a girl. The girls, of course, are the smart ones who figure everything out and are very much alpha male.
The story, which could have been really well written, instead portrays a superior "alien" technological secret headquarters that is accessed by clicking hanging metal balls together and then only needs a pass code to enter on a punchpad......allowing anyone who figures that out to enter the "secret headquarters? Really? How did it possibly remain secret for 10 years?
Owen Wilson, who I really like......plays Owen Wilson......can he act like a "character". I guess not. The Owen Wilson charm is worn completely thin on this film.
If you are looking for another Superhero movie to watch (like there aren't enough of them) with lots of CGI that is brainless and full of the same ol same ol stereotypical characters and scenarios and can entertain your kids....maybe this would be for them.....
Gönül (2022)
Sweet Movie
I love this quirky, sweet movie. The setting is cool..... the small village in the mountains. The way they live in their tents/cars.
The story is very original. Good acting and filmmaking.
The Sandman (2022)
FIRST FOUR EPISODES STELLAR...downhill from there
I loved the first four episodes of THE SANDMAN.....if there had been only those four episodes I would have rated this series 10 stars. Instead, starting with Episode 5, the series lost its steam for me and went downhill quickly to where I am watching/not watching episode 8 and will probably not even watch.....or I will fast forward through the rest of the series. I do love the CGI and special effects and the inclusivity of LGBT characters.
Ratatouille (2007)
Lovely Movie
Lovely movie. I've seen this movie at least four times. The animation and story is superb. A fun, colorful journey that is very heartwarming and endearing. This movie is one of my all time animated favorites.
Uncoupled (2022)
Refreshing
It is extremely nice to watch this gay series on Netflix. There is a major lack of decent gay film and TV series to watch.
I am on the verge of tears at times. Laugh out loud.....just wishing the series had far more episodes. Even though, it's a bit on the pretentious New York eye scene with lots of glamor, hot guys, dinner parties/bars/ Art openings.....I love the series. Well done.
The Sea Beast (2022)
Animation is Excellent-otherwise.....
Otherwise, this movie is just ok. The story is very predictable. And, is kind of odd. It is hard for me to write anything about the movie because it didn't ignite much feeling for me. I did give it a second chance after trying to watch it once. Just an ok movie with excellent animation.
Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank (2022)
Charming
This movie was alot better than I thought it would be. The trailer did not do it justice. I laughed alot during this movie and throughly enjoyed the story. It was charming and heartwarming. I loved it. I hope there will be sequels to it.....and a prequel.....
The Black Phone (2021)
The IT-PENNYWISE Phone with Balloons.
This story is overly wrought with testosterone. Lots of boys fighting. The abusive father. The sadistic "Grabber". It's PENNYWISE...with black balloons.....the story is jokable at times as well as the acting. I cannot understand why there are "rave" reviews of Ethan Hawkes acting. His part was not a very big part and the acting was just average. There are too many horror cliches in the movie. The psychic dreams. The spirits reaching out from the past who "talk" over a phone. The zany guy doing his own investigation on the case who turns out to be the "grabbers" brother. If you don't see this movie, you are not missing anything spectacular. The cinematography was good.
Nope (2022)
I say "YEPPITY YEP" to Nope!!!
This film begins as a slow burn. A horrifying slow burn. The story is multilayered and sophisticated. I loved this film. As I watched the film, my rating would go up and down a little. Now that I am home and can't stop thinking about the film....it is full spectrum ALL THUMBS UP for me. Sure, sometimes, I wished that it was perhaps a little more gritty, but I think the reasoning for not making it overly dark and gritty is the tie in of Nature vs. Humans Pop Culture in which a trained animal went ballistic on set.
I loved the history of the horse training family.
This movie is so well made. I totally loved it. It scared me and horrified me and the special effects blew my mind!!!
I am so glad that the trailer for this movie didn't show all of the best scenes from the film!!! Why marvel at wasting your time watching The redundant Bore of THOR, when you can be bedazzled with a truly horrifying store about man vs nature involving ALIENS!!!!
BRAVO!!! BRAVO!!! BRAVO!!! BRAVO JORDAN PEELE!!! MY favorite of all Jordan's films.
Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris (2022)
PURE MAGIC
This movie melted my heart and then made a dessert out it!!! Totally flawless with a beautiful story chockfull of hope for all despite the loss of loved ones and cruel treatment by others.
The lighting, cinematography, acting, sets, set decoration, costumes, etcetera etcetera.... FLAWLESS!!!
I hope MRS HARRIS GOES TO NEW YORK is made into a film!!!
De uskyldige (2021)
Creepy
I am not much of a horror fan. This movie is different than most of the horror movies out there and far better than most that I have seen. The movie was very well done....the acting, cinematography, special effects. Well done.
It was so good and I would love to see a part two and three or more. It is so eerie.... I love how alot was left unexplained which makes me want to see more of this story!!!! Bravo!!!
Where the Crawdads Sing (2022)
Loved this Movie
I read the novel 4 years ago and loved it. Did I wish this movie was more suspenseful and more "gritty". Yes, tho, still the movie was well made and well acted and I ended up crying a couple times in the movie. The mood is very somber and serious. It is not a silly romantic com. It is a serious romance exhibiting serious issues of abuse and heartbreak and murder and the wrath of nature.
Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
Obi-Meh Kenobi
I was excited to watch this series until I started watching it. 30 minutes into the first episode, I realized this series is made for 5 year old children. The acting, and costumes were cheesy. The same sets utilized in the disappointing Boba Fett series were in this series. It was terrible.
