You People (2023)
Cringe
I watched this because I've missed seeing Eddie Murphy in movies but this movie is so awful. The dialogue is cringe, the situations they put them in are awkward and there's no feel good moments or laugh out loud parts to break up the awkwardness. The only thing worse than the writing and Eddie Murphys coldness is Jonah Hills bleached hair that looks like he rolled out of bed and said screw it good enough.
Julia plays the awkward mom to Jonah Hill who is trying to fit in and play it cool but she always says the wrong things and there's not one person in this movie that is trying to make an effort to put the two lovebirds feelings first. Everyone's selfish, judgemental and every line has to do with race, holocaust, slavery or something deemeening.
Chucky: Death on Denial (2022)
Glenn
I loved Lachlan Watson as Glenn / Glenda. To be honest I didn't realize they were the same actor until the end of the episode. They did fabulous, lived up to my excitement for bringing them back.
However I will say, I didn't care for the Chucky talk show, which is why I knocked it down a star rating. It was just weird especially when they brought on the wrestler chick just because she said she wanted to be killed by Chucky on a Podcast.
I loved Jennifer Tilly throughout the entire episode. She did fabulous. I wish they would keep her dressed in black like she wore in Bride but that's my only fan wish for that.
I loved seeing her with her old Bound costar and sister. The writing seemed a little weak but I think they were just rushed for the second season which is never good for the quality. Unfortunately this will probably be the last season but I enjoyed this episode.
Halloween Ends (2022)
Way better than Kills
Laurie Strode has moved into a cute new house with her granddaughter and instead of having traps everywhere, it's filled with love and dedication to her daughter that died in the previous, awful film. We are introduced to a new main character of a kid named Corey who is dealing with the towns own cruelty.
It fixed all the mistakes Kill had. I liked the new characters and the storyline. They found a way to make sure he was dead. That's what was so stupid about the last film. This brought homage back to the original film and had new original death scenes. I thought it ended beautifully and respectfully to anyone who was a fan of the original.
Mr. Harrigan's Phone (2022)
Great Film, Don't Expect Horror
The movie is about a young boy who is hired to read books to an old man who's eyes aren't what they used to be. They end up teaching each other many unique things and form a great friendship before he passes of heart disease and the boy is left to deal with not only the grief of his friend, but that of his mother. Then he starts receiving messages from the dead man's phone.
I'm an avid lover of Stephen King and I loved Jaeden in It so I knew I'd love this film. My main point is don't expect this to be a horror film. It's not. But it's a great story filled with great acting, writing and an intriguing plot. But I think those that are expecting a horror movie are going go very disappointed. There are definitely creepy parts but there's no gore and very few jump scares.
It's a very unique story which is refreshing nowadays and Jaeden and Donald play their part well and have great chemistry.
Shining Vale (2022)
I love it
I'm also a huge horror movie so I appreciate the references and scenes, like the piano Exorcist scene, where they play total homage to a classic.
I think everyone's cast perfectly, I don't understand the negative reviews.
I also think Courtney Cox really shows off her acting skills here, especially when she's possessed.
Greg Kinnear and his best buddy are hilarious!
The daughter can be annoying but has a beautiful singing voice.
The son is awesome.
I love it.
Scream (2022)
Creative
First off, I loved all of the nostalgia to the first film, especially Randy's mantle at his sisters house. I loved that his niece became the new "Rules of a Horror Movie" commenter.
I also thought there were a lot of creative murder scenes, probably the best in the scream franchise, not including the first one.
The third and fourth Scream movies were just awful, so this one is definitely better than those; not as good as the first one, but no Scream sequel will ever be.
Now for the bad.
One of the new killers is a tiny teenage girl who looks like a kid putting on an adult costume at the end, however throughout the whole movie they have a 6'5 guy running around killing everyone. Especially in the death scene of Dewey. She's like the same height as him. Yes. I'm mad they killed of Dewey. Was the kill creative? Yes. Was this villain deserving by any means of that? Absolutely not.
They also never really explained why they killed certain people and how they were connected to the past.
She-Devil (1989)
Great fun.
A greatly under appreciated movie.
Roseanne was in her prim, Meryl was being her fabulous Meryl self.
I just don't understand why they're fighting over a mediocre looking and acting guy.
Don't take it seriously.
Halloween Kills (2021)
Absolutely horrible.
I'm a huge horror fan.
And this is just the worst sequel. Ever.
They're all about bringing in old characters for the "nostalgic" feel, just to instantly kill them off. There is no character development, no emotional connections to any of the new and older characters, they're just there for a body count for Michael.
Laurie, Jamie Lee Curtis, is barely in the movie, and her daughter Karen, Judy Greer, takes on the role of being the heroine who hunts down Michael Myers.
The movie is frustrating in many senses, but the main one being everyone in the film is educated on Michael Myers and his history, and yet, no one seems to take the history lesson that stabbing and shooting him NEVER works.
So at the end when Karen thinks she has her big victory because the entire town shows up and surrounds him with knives and hockey sticks, it's more infuriating to the viewers watching and screaming at their televisions to just, "chop off his head" than it is to her when she just stabs him in the neck and calls it a day and then he ends up killing her and everyone around them.
If you want a good suspenseful serial killer, give him realistic obstacles that he can get through regardless instead of doing something idiotic like stabbing him once and expecting him to be dead.
Annette (2021)
Just judge it for yourself, by yourself.
I watched this movie alone because although my friends love musicals and actors, I knew their commentary would disrupt my own thoughts while watching it, just as reading the reviews on here did.
However, if you're going to take an opinion on here, be it that, your own.
I liked the second half MUCH better than the first half.
The first half is introducing the lovers, the terrible stand up comedian Driver and renowned opera singer Marion. The music was kind of hard to get into, reminded me of Sweeny Todd, a lot of conversation that they're singing instead.
When Annette, the wooden puppet aka Atheir love child, is born, it weirded me out. I compared it to Renesmee of the Twilight series, however I kept through it and honestly Annette grew on me, especially when she sings. There's something hauntingly beautiful about it.
I can't say there are any musical numbers in it that will stick with me or I'll be downloading, however I'm a huge Adam Driver fan and he's very raw and brilliant in it, as well as Marion.
Was I fan of his character? Absolutely not.
If you're going to watch this film for anything let it be for the ending song / scene between Adam and Annette.
With that being said, I think everyone should at least see this movie once though.
Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar (2021)
Threw me off at first; but I'm SO glad I continued.
It's so crazy and weird. But I haven't laughed that hard in a long, long time. I never liked 50 Shades, but I fell in love with Jamie in this movie. I also had NO idea the villain was also Kristen Wiig until the end of the movie when my friend had to tell me who played the villain. It's fabulous and a fun time.
The Meg (2018)
Entertaining, good characters.
Okay, so it's no Jaws. It's not a classic shark movie that's going to terrify you to ever get in the water again, with Steven Spielberg behind the camera.
However, it's entertaining, humorous, and is an original storyline.
The characters are likable, the CGI is decent, and who doesn't love a good love story?
I'm not a Jason S. Fan, but I actually liked him in this.
Ignore the negative Nancy's and actually see this for yourself.
The Wedding Date (2005)
Horrible
I love romantic comedies. I love My Best Friends Wedding, and I saw a few of the cast members were starting in this film, alongside with Amy Adams and Holland Taylor, both whom are fantastic actresses in my book.
This film however makes even the best actors and actresses into mediocre, cheesy ones. I'm not sure if the movie was rushed or if the actors didn't like the writing (which is awful) so they just didn't give it their all, but there was absolutely no chemistry between anyone together, or anyone even with a history of being together. When you add no chemistry with horrible cheesy writing, you end up with a disaster of a film. Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend this film to anyone, even if they were bored and stuck in quarantine.
The Prom (2020)
Andrew Rannell and James Corden are Perfect
I love Meryl and Nicole, always have, especially seeing them in Big Little Lies right before this.
I've also LOVED Ryan Murphy since Glee (RIP CORY AND NAYA)
And Andrew Rannell since Girls.
I love musicals and Broadway and this was right up my alley. I will say I get where people who aren't into Broadway shows will think there was too much music, I even thought that for a split second when James and Andrew were off the screen for a bit, but then Andrew came back with Love Thy Neighbor and I was back in.
The main girl, for being a newbie, was good, but almost too smiley. Like at times it was too much.
This is so brilliantly funny though. Just what we needed at the end of 2020.
The Devil All the Time (2020)
Bill Skarsgard
I've loved this actor since I first saw It (2017) and he has not disappointed since.
If you're going to watch this film for anything, watch it for the acting. I read the book and it's a great story, but my goodness the acting is phenomenal.
Something Borrowed (2011)
It's not horrible, but could be better.
The first time I saw this film when it first came out, I loved it. It made me laugh, I loved the romance, despite the negative reviews, I thought it was a good film.
However throughout the years, the more I've watched it, the more I dislike the characters.
If Dex and Darcy had been dating and engaged for a couple of years, that would be one thing and more understandable. But they've been together for SIX years and Rachel hasn't only found anyone else to date, ever, but Dex and Darcy have spent many years together and now they're about to get married and buy a house. And Rachel and Dex have finally been honest about their feelings for each other all these years and they finally get to make love and all that Jazz.
I looked over the cheating part when I first watched it, thinking they deserved to be with each other and how Darcy wasn't that great if a person. But rewatching it, they're all not that great of people. The only logical, decent person is Ethan. And he's completely right when he tells Rachel that Dex is being a douche, just leading her on, and she's acting like a pathetic, no self-esteem girl.
The ending is fitting, but I think Dex needs to be single for a bit. He jumps from a six year engagement straight into a relationship with Rachel. I think if there was a sequel, he would act scared and dip out before their wedding as well.
But if you're looking for a corny chick flick with John Krasinki, give it a go. Just know, he's the only decent fella in the movie.
Bill & Ted Face the Music (2020)
Excellent
I'm not going to lie, I started watching from the moment they announced this movie, and Keanu and Alex on the couch discussing it. Then I saw the trailers, and thought it was going to be a corny cash-grab.
It's really great. It's no Oscar-worthy movie, but it plays homage and nostalgic scenes to the original. I wasn't a huge fan of the second, but the third does the first justice.
Like I said, no ones going to win an Oscar for best writing, but it's a really, entertaining, laugh out loud film, that is what we all need right now. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Little Women (2019)
Not a Classic
I absolutely love Florence Pugh. She's one of my favorite new and upcoming actresses, and I also love Laura Dern, Meryl Streep and Emma Watson, so I was excited to watch this.
I've seen Timothee in a few things; and haven't made up my mind if I like him or not, but I do like him in this movie. Timothee and Florence really carried this film.
I can't say I'm a Saoirse fan. I hated her character in Atonement, she changed my mind in LadyBird, so this was the deciding factor for me. I again don't care for her. It's not that I love the original, honestly I've never seen it, but I believe everyone else who loves it when they say Winona is the best Jo March.
Saoirse just doesn't have this lovable, nature, she just comes off as narcissist and thinking she's better than everyone else, which is how she made Jo seem; but I feel like there's a lot more heart to Jo that I've seen in the dialogue.
Last, but not least, the sequences are off. So, so off. They should've just had the younger versions for half the movie and then the adult versions for the other half. They all looked literally the same way in the time jump so I just had to think about what was happening in the scene to understand if it was younger or older. That really killed it for me, and for my mother, who is a longtime fan of this film.
I'm giving it five stars for the actors I previously mentioned and the costume design.
Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga (2020)
Great music, just not Will
The singer that sings for Rachel McAdams character is so unbelievably talented, and the final song honestly deserves to win the Oscar for best original song (move over Shallow) however I feel like Will Ferrells singing and part almost ruined the songs. I've never been a huge Will fan, and from the previews I thought he may surprise me, but it's just Will being Will. And the singer that does duets with him just blows me away every time she sings, and then he sings and it just really dampers it.
With that being said, besides the weird romance between the "maybe siblings" it was a great plot and very entertaining.
I also really really loved Olafur Darri Olafsson in this. I watch him as Bing on the show NOS4A2U and I'm very impressed with his range of acting.
Soul Surfer (2011)
Great Movie
When I worked for an online magazine devoted to strong and inspiration women, she was my first interview, and she's one of the kindest people I've ever spoken to. I'm glad this movie did her and her story justice, I think the main actress did an amazing job and Helen Hunt and Dennis Quaid are always brilliant.
My only critique is the acting done by side characters, specifically Carrie Underwood and Bethanys best friend. Their acting almost ruined the heart warming scenes.
Other than that, it's a great film.
Joker (2019)
Good, but not great.
The beginning is SO slow. I normally love movies that start off with some non-action parts because I like getting to know the characters, however this movie was almost too slow in the beginning.
I also dislike how dumb they make Arthur to be. Heath Ledgers joker was a master schemer, clever and not stupid by any means. Arthur in Joker is just an insecure slow guy who can't even spell. His killings are just like a guy that snaps and gets away with it for a bit. There's nothing clever or original.
The one and only original scene that I wish the whole movie was like more was the midget / scissor scene. I liked the dark humor and the originality in this scene. You didn't know what he was going to do next. The rest of the movie you already know what's going to happen.
He also laughs way, way too much. By the time the movie was halfway over I was praying he wouldn't go into a laughing fit anymore. The movie started to end well, and then they show an unnecessary extra scene with a closeup shot of Arthur laughing again.
I love Joaquin Phoenix but I didn't like how dim they made him. I mean killings happen all the time in Gotham and there was nothing so inspirational about his first killings that would've made the whole city praise and worship him. He was just a dumb, damaged guy that got lucky.
This movie was just an all around feel-bad film.
It (2017)
Best movie ever
I'm literally obsessed with this film. Always loved Stephen King and Bill Skarsgard is the perfect Pennywise.
Dumbo (2019)
Truly Loved It
I love Tim Burton and I love Disney.
Loved the love action Cinderella, hated the Beauty and the Beast one, so I was on the fence with this one.
Honestly, ignore the bad reviews and see it for yourself. I really, really loved it.
The ending makes it worth the money alone.
And Colin Farrell as a clown. Yum.

Glass (2019)
James is Brilliant
James Macavoy deserves an Oscar nod for this film. I loved his character from split ( especially that we got to see more of Kevin ) and the girl Kasey we're bonding in this. It was my favorite part of the film, and honestly, if they would've just done the whole sequel with those two, it would be perfect.
However I wasn't into the comic book part ( just not my thing ) but for those who love comic books, you'll love this movie.
Hated the ending, with a serious furious passion, but I'm giving it ten stars for James.
Logan Lucky (2017)
Really Good
I'm a huge fan of Adam Driver, I even watched all of Lincoln just to watch him in his two minute part, so I was looking forward to seeing this, although I wasn't expecting too much. It looked funny, but heist movies aren't really my thing.
However the writing and the acting were really, really good. I kind of wish Channing Tatum and Adam Driver were brothers in every movie now.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018)
If you love the original, don't see this.
The only reason I'm even giving this any stars is because the cgi has improved greatly since the first Jurassic World. However we apparently had to give up nostalgic feels, great acting, and most importantly, great writing for decent looking dinosaurs.
There is nothing familiar about this film. Even the actors that are from the first film are completely different characters. Chris Pratt's charming character Owen Grady is no longer charming. They try so hard to make him a bad ass, that he's not even that anymore. He's just an action hero, and not in the loveable unique sense that we all (normally) love him for. While Bryce Dallas Howard plays Claire, who in the first film was all about business and order, and somehow in this film is a messy overly-caring woman who has lost all of her character traits from the first. The only actor that saves this movie is Justice Smith, who although is completely out of place and not well-written, is actually thoroughly enjoyed when on the screen.
Now let's get to the villain. I'm a huge fan of the film Life Of Pi, so I was excited when I saw Rafe Spall casted for this film, especially since his co-star was in the first film. However now I can't tell if I just hated his character so much that it made me almost dislike the actor, or if I should just shame the writers. I've always disliked Toby Jones, so don't even get me started on the villains anymore. Leave the villain part to the dinosaurs, not the humans. It's like Walking Dead, it's gone from awesome characters going against cool zombies, to all about war.
Lets skip this dudes and get straight to the dinosaurs. As someone put in their review, Spielberg was able to have an intense suspsensful scene with just a water cup moving and just the sound of a footstep. This film tries way, way too hard for suspense in all the cliche, wrong ways (like a little girl in her bed and an unnecessaryily creepy dinosaur creeping in her room to eat her). And can I just say that I'm like every other cliche American when it comes to absolutely loving Blue, but that doesn't mean you make Blue into a cute cuddly baby creature, she's still supposed to be a velociraptor, not baby Dory.
They kill off dinosaurs like they're nothing (the scene where they're leaving the island ruined the whole film for me, those who have seen it know what part I'm talking about) and honestly they wouldn't have just left a theme park with dinosaurs completely deserted for three years, only to bring them across the ocean and place them in someone's garage.
The people who wrote this movie didn't place themselves in the situations or do any research. Just leave all writing to Michael Critchon from now on and don't try to recreate it anymore. There were no memorable lines, no memorable scenes, it was just all, bad.
