Definitely not one of the great movies from Nicolaescu. This movie is supposed to be about Comisarul. Instead all we get is a cheap film about Russian roulette. Better watch the Georgian movie 13 Tzameti for unbelievable tension related to Russian roulette.Great actors but bad script. Loved the performance of Jean Constantin. Even if the action seems to take place in a western Europe city almost everybody is Romanian:) and the director is making that very clear introducing English speaking for those who are not Romanian. This movie seems like a long advert for singer Loredana Groza aka Lorry. Everything in the movie is in slow motion and for almost 20 minutes Loredana is on a cabaret stage singing....so boring. Loredana is this movie producer's wife. Does it make sense to you now? Nicolaescu please stop doing movies. You are just ruining your career after those great movies in the 70s and 80s.

good for Romanian moviegoers

Obviously this movie is made having a national target not international moviegoers. Nothing new under the sun: A lot of comedies are made for local market. Good for Romanian moviegoers. But as the other comment shows Romanians tend to dis-consider everything that is Romanian and for the only reason that is Romanian. Ozone, Akcent, Mihai Traistariu made a lot of money in European music market but in our country they are "crap". Monica Dean and so many other actors with a good manager receive roles in US movies but they are "whores", "bad" just because they are Romanian....and more obviously because they are sort of successful Romanians. This movie is a decent movie with local low level humor but wait to see it on TV cause it's not something to die for.

I've seen this movie at Transylvania International Film Festival. Mixed reaction from people attending this movie selected as the closing movie of this festival. At the Q&A with the director after the screening there were people accusing this movie of presenting a deformed Transylvania's reality. I kinda agree with the fact that this is almost nothing to do with Transylvania The director made a very bad choice naming this movie :Transylvania. People from abroad watching this movie might think that this part of Romania is just very poor dirty and mainly gypsy. The director tries to explained at the Q&A that he want it to present all the 3 ethnic communities living in Transylvania: Romanians, Hungarians and Gypsies. Hmmm.... All the Hungarians presented in the movie were in fact Hungarian Gypsies. I'm not being racist here but we Romanians tend to be very sensitive when foreign producers try to present Romania with the following "assests": Gypsies, poor, orphans, handicaps, thieves. Don't get me wrong it's a good movie with very good Romanian folk and gypsy music. It's a love story between two foreigners in Transylvania. Sometimes the movie is quite funny with a few Kusturica elements in it. Somehow the director is repeating the same story from his precedent movie Gadjo Dillo and I find that useless.

very bad script for so many good actors including Maia Morgenstein. Director should retire after this movie even a foreign director can do a better movie about the Romanian so called revolution. for a Romanian who lived those period the movie is so lame, so many things in the movie seem so unrealistic. The main characters are going by tram at the beginning of the movie surrounded by tanks but no one is making a comment on that. Romania wasn't Iraq at that time so everybody should be surprised. Btw the trains towards Timisoara were stopped in those days by the communist regime, that city was practically closed. My advice watch the movie as an experience but lower your expectations. definitely not a good movie.
